Thank you for video! Despite my time in Switzerland was very limited I had to go to Schynige twice because of the thick fog first time.
Thanks for the tip to playback at 2x speed - it made the video more watchable. Why was the train so slow - was it just the incline and/or the fact that the line was cogwheel? I love the view of the clouds lying like a cotton wool carpet hallway up the mountain.
We did this journey on 18 August 1998 from Wilderwil to Schynige Platte, walked to and from Daube, and caught the train from Schynige Platte to Wilderwil.
The title of the video is a little misleading: "Train driver view": in this case, the train driver is at the back of the train. I agree, it would be less impressive if you had to shoot a video from the real train driver position :) A cog railway train has an uphill and a downhill side (in German, Bergseite und Talseite). The engine (locomotive) must always be on the downhill side for safety reasons. In these old trains there is no secondary steering post at the opposite side of the engine, so the driver has to be physically in the locomotive, in this case, at the back of the train. There is however an employee in front of the train who can communicate with the driver. Another interesting fact about this train route: the overhead powerlines are removed before the winter and reinstalled after the winter. A couple of years ago, they still had one steam engine (I don't know if it is still there) and they used that to remove and reinstall the overhead power line. Great video!! I have done this trip a zillion times. Together with the Rothorn Bahn in Brienz, this is one of the most scenic cog railway trips you can do in Switzerland. I'm looking forward to seeing the downhill journey.

You are welcome! Due to steep inclination, train speed is kept less (around 20 km/h).
Glad our work was worth your time 🙌🏻👍🏼
Wonderful!!
