  • It is time to "burn" the soybeans to make them bush out. Eric gives a visual update of the corn in the field that he plowed the ground in the spring.

    Plowing ground is expensive now, but I still believe it pays off when done about every three years. Another enjoyable and informative video. Thanks.

    We have been no-tilling for 10+ years and I'm thinking about trying tillage again especially on the acres we harvest spring forage crops. Our neighbor still plows and he always has a consistent stand.

      It’s definitely showing signs of a yield bump coming!!

    When pulled out of the ground, not a single soil aggregate was attached to the root. But, he’s right, seed production is an annuals main job.

    What’s your use rate on Cobra and at what stage do you burn them?

    We did a test like that somewhat last fall we were able to pump manure to a field that hasn't ever had any. And we were able to only get half covered and there is a definite line in the corn too. 6-8in taller and darker green. Will be interested to see the yield differences when the choppers get to it. Ur crops look good hope ur yr finishes up great!!

    If your beans were drought stressed would you still spray the cobra to stress them more?

      Absolutely.

      The no til farmers not knocking there way of farming are fertilizing for years and years and those nutrients are staying at ground level to 4” deep the roots are not getting all the nutrients and fertilizer that they are putting down ! Down at the roots of those plants ! That’s my opinion. Again I’m not knocking no till farming. But if your spending money on fertilizer it needs to get down deep!

      That’s exactly right. It has its place just not on my farm. I will take yield any day.

    Is reflex and cobra not doing the same thing to the beans? Would blazer do the same as Cobra?

    • @TheCropCritic
      @TheCropCritic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes Blazer was in the mix with cobra. I would have used a higher rate if only using Blazer.

    Are you going harvest your sunflowers or what are you planning on doing with them

    • @TheCropCritic

      No we have photographers use them and then we have a huge dove hunt.

    You could accomplish the same thing without Cobra. Discbine your beans at the desired height.

    Nothing wrong with moldboard plowing. If i was a farmer i would plow every 4 years. Let the sun shine on the other side. There are a lot of farmers here that no till. I call no till half ass farming.
