Yes! So many of have asked about this....and it's happening! I've just opened up the pre-order: bella-maes.com/product/grace-kelly-18th-century-pdf-pattern/ It will be released by the end of June (but hopefully earlier!), and if you pre-order, the PDF will show up in your email as soon as I release it!
Bella Maes Designs ah I’m so excited for this and I was pleased to find out that our measurements are very similar so I wouldn’t need to make many changes to it 😆 Can’t wait for the release!
I would love to see more mash ups! There are so many interesting eras that you could do a little spin on, and it’s a totally unique idea! This dress turned out absolutely stunning and the silhouette is so flattering. Also your meticulous sewing and bubbly energy is (especially during these uncertain times) a joy to watch.
@@BellaMaesDesigns💜 You, dear, are absolutely amazing.🎉 You should be very proud of your 3 Day accomplishment.🏅 I am extremely 🌟impressed🌟 with your speed, skills, design, prep work, planning, and execution. All completed with your handsewing as well as that incredible vintage machine. Bravo❣ 👏👏👏👏👏 🎀This dress is a beautiful mix of both my most favorite fashion eras. You perfectly captured the feminine flair from these time periods. 💟It truly turned out lovely. 🎬You even did Grace Kelly proud modeling it. Gorgeous❣ 📹Your overall video production quality is pretty cool too. (🤗Enjoy your hosting abilities -- very informative, candid & sweet!) Is it a family affair? Does someone help you? Or, are you also the maverick behind it all!? 💛👸💛 Looking forward to your future fashion mash-ups, esp. any involving a princess👑. Cheers!
Compliments for two things: The idea of combining the two styles. Loved the design and the fabric. And I admire you for your willpower to see this through. It was not an easy project that you gave yourself. You could have chosen something easy like a circle skirt. I love the final result. You look so cute in that dress.
As someone who is completely obsessed with both colonial and 50’s era styles, this dress makes me happier than words can express. I’m just starting out sewing, but when I get better (and have more confidence altering patterns), I’m DEFINITELY going to make this.
A challenge is just that: a challenge. You were challenged to make a dress in a day, but you made it in two! Like you said, you now have a beautiful, high quality dress forever! Personally, I’d rather see you make clothes than do make up! (But historical hairstyles are always welcome!) I would love to see you make an outfit that is “wearable” out and about, but has its roots in some era in history: the Edwardian or Regency or the 50’s, etc. History bounding? ☺️
Yes, exactly! Thanks for your opinion; I've had several people ask me to do it. I'm thinking I'll do it, but I won't replace my weekly sewing video (so there will be a double video week coming up!) I'm definitely planning on doing more of these in the future! ❤️
@@margotonnotogrambeee You coined a delicious new trend❣ From DisneyBounding to HistoryBounding. Perfect! It really does bring history & fashion together in a very innovative way💝. ✂️Seems to give creators a way of honoring the past w/o getting bogged down by following precise period processes or making exact replicas. 💙Love that! 👍Seems like a far more wearable trend too. 🏆Of course, the ability to recreate the look & feel of authentic clothing from "days gone by" with original methods is marvelous, but can also be a truly daunting concept to your average bear🐻. The cap sleeves definitely look more elegant. Elegant is a word I associate with both 18th century clothing AND Grace Kelly. I've done 1/8 inch cartridge pleating by hand, but fork pleats sound much better.
Love this dress! I love the structured bodice and the care and attention that went into making it. If you were so inclined i would 100% buy the pattern for this were you to sell it!
Thank you so much! So with so many people asking for the pattern...I decided to make one! You can pre-order it NOW: bella-maes.com/product/grace-kelly-18th-century-pdf-pattern/ I'm planning on having it released by the end of June (but hopefully it turns out to be a bit earlier than that!)
This dress is so, so beautiful. I always love watching makers put on their creations at the end of these videos and see their joy shine and this was a perfect example of that. You looked so proud of yourself and it is so well deserved. I can’t imagine making such an involved dress in one day or even trying to- it takes me a whole day to cut out pre-made patterns! The process and this dress are phenomenal!
Perhaps a circle veil? Or sewing on some pre-embroidered trim? A pair of shoes? A "girdle"/belt thingie? A favor for a loved one (pouch, handkerchief/ napkin, pommendar)?
I really like the look of the top stitching. It gives that additional summer, casual or day dress vibe. I love how you mashed two vintage eras into a beautiful modern dress. I feel like I could wear that out today. Well done.
I love your work. The dress is beautiful. You could be Miss Kelly's little sister. I learned to sew in the seventh grade and I am 60 yr. old now. My challenge is to fix someone else mistakes. I have only watched a few of your shows and I have learned quite a few tips. I also love love the scrap dress. The colors were magnificent and you looked like you were having so much fun. I live in Oregon and with the weather in the winters so iffy I sew a lot. So keep up the great work. Karen
I'm coming late to the party. Beautiful nod the Robe a la Francaise, wonderful fabric, I absolutely love the dress. The melding on 1950s structure and the 18th century approaches to dressmaking work so well together. Please do more; you are so creative. :)
LOVE IT! The cap sleeves really made it. My favorite 😋 The dress, the pattern, the fabric. Everything is perfect!I love your 1800 sewing machine. I have never seen one looking like that. And what a beautiful relaxing sound it makes. I don't see how anyone can give this a thumbs down. They must be envious. I know I am. I still haven't sewn an actual garment, I just made minor... Very minor adjustments. I hope learn to sew as good as you do. Thank you for this beautiful video. You are amazing 🤗
I'm glad you took longer than a day on this dress. It would have been a sloppy costume rather than the lovely couture piece that it is. Congratulations on persevering! History bounding is so inspiring. Thank you from my sewing room to yours!
What a lovely young lady.... thank you for sharing your gorgeous creative endeavors with us hungry, creative adventurers! Btw, pearl cream and raspberry pink are soooo your colors! Thanks!
Bella Mae this dress is absolutely beautiful! You should be very proud of yourself! I enjoy watching you create all these incredible dresses! Well done!!
Absolutely gorgeous ❣️ The fabric really makes it stunning. I love the idea of combining the fashion era's together. Styles today need some help, in my opinion. You are very encouraging to see. I have sewn almost everything, from craft items and quilts to heirloom baby dresses, but I haven't sewn any clothes for myself since I was young. This past year I've seen the historical costuming and decided it's time to address the fit issue in my shoulder area and create clothes for Me for a change. Then I found your posts.... OMG! Thanks for the extra push. 😉😄
1 day turned to 3... A lot of work went into this project and the results are stunning!! Loved the treadle machine! I have a treadle I bought at a yard sale, little oil and ran like a charm.
Absolutely exquisite, breath-taking, really. Even though you describe it as a "mash-up", this garment can be worn at any time, in any place, and in any period. Craftsmanship, design, flawless execution. Truly, truly impressive. Don't ever "get rid of" that dress. You can wear it through your entire life and turn heads always.
It is an absolutely beautiful dress! You did a fantastic job! Please please do mash ups in time projects again. You designed something that was a great mash up of both time periods!!
You're the first person I've seen on TH-cam who knows how to tie good bows. Also, it's a pretty pretty dress. And I think it would be wearable for any day you felt like wearing a dress. Sorry, I'm a bit like you were when you had to go to bed there at the end of the first dress day.
You are so talented. I hope to be as good as you someday. To think you drafted everything yourself is amazing too. I draft patterns myself too, but it takes me SO long I’ve been using commercial patterns more, but I always need to make adjustments so it kinda feels like it’s a waste of money when I can just draft my own. Your work is just so beautiful. I’ve been sewing for a year and I have improved a lot in a year, but definitely not as good as you.
That hair when you 1st brushed it out, RITA HAYWORTH! You had it! My mom wore her hair that way and did my hair that way when I was about 12....then we both got haircuts, short and puffy on top lol! Loved, loved this dress, Bravo!!!!
what a BEAUTIFUL couture piece you created! i'd bet that would sell for high dollar for a special occasion, like an afternoon wedding. i wish i had your skills.
It's a stunning dress, your design was a stroke of genius! Your mom is absolutely right! And a HUGE compliment for your videography, it's an absolute joy to watch your process.
Dont be bummed about not meeting the one day challenge. Honestly, most one day dresses dont end up looking verygood because steps are rushed/skipped or technique isnt as sharp. So much more satisfying and inspiring to see a well designed and nicely finished garment that is wearable than something held together by pins and fabric glue. And dang...the pleating on the back bodice and skirt is so freakin beautiful, very lovely design and execution. Cant wait for your tutorial on pleating.
Rachel Maksy has lots of great vintage hair and makeup grwm vids on her channel and Lauren posted a pin curl set on American Duchess a few weeks back too, if your looking for inspiration for future vintage/mash up videos. The dress turned out beautifully! Love the fabric choice and all the little details you added.

Day three was sleeves. You have to take your time with those. It’s pretty. Well worth the time to do right. Great work!!!
Oh yes, to the rabbit hole experience with historical stuff!!!! I seriously love the combo you came up with. Just gorgeous, and cheers to Bernadette Banner. Genuinely fabulous inspiration.
This is so stunning! It looks so classic! Lol I watched the pleating video first (mind-blowing) . I'm not sure if this would help on a chainstitch machine, but if a machine didn't have a backstitch, I've put the needle down and turned the project 180 to get a back stitch effect. Then you could still pull the loop through. Instead of the hand sewing? Or maybe sew a couple stitches past the fabric then lock it. But then you have some longer threads...
I’d like to point out that: You DID in fact do it in 24 hours. It was just spread across two days. 😁
I would have killed for that dress in 1963 when I was 18. Its timeless, really.
It turned out so nice! You should totally make a pattern that we can purchase.

I prefer sleeves. Cap sleeves are nice.
Thank goodness for magnetic pin cushions.
Oh well.
It's so pretty Bella -Mae, well done xx
