From 1982 Negativland was one of my favorite bands ever.
Simply brilliant.
This video is perfect.
Exactly on point.
This lays out so clearly the pathologies underlying gun obsession.
yaz! they don't just play with sound samples, they mine the zeitgeist!
He who does not fear his own weapon is unfit to wield it
Thanks for posting the video I made for Negativland!
It’s a really great video must’ve been fun for them to do the music for it and the audio. Really an amazing video you really put it together quite nicely I wonder if they had input into your work on this video?
Love Negativland and this one is great.
Mu first Negativland song...instant addiction.
The bamb-b-bambam is from High Noon (1952)
I thought it was from Once Upon a Time in the West?
first song I heard...hooked!!!
Meee too. This isnt exactly their most popular but it was on a single. Later I love it all Escape From Noise was hard for me to sit and just listen already hate me some Looney Toons and it just was oh soooo Noisy which is freakin awesome.
I already loved Severed Heads, Foetus, Ween and Skinny Puppy but damit ...Negativland is the razors edge sometimes. This is a peaceful song actually.
A personal fav is def. the song Michael Jackson.
Anyhooo... Guns
Negativland's "Escape From Noise" full album, is a tour de force.
This video is amazing. The Song too.
Thanks!
Also check out: Negativland -- "Sycamore."
"Hey Pa!" was from Daniel Boone. Just heard it on METV.
+Benjamin Hennessy Once Upon a Time in the West is the source, albeit, the tv show might be the original source.
Top tier fucking music rarely created. Ultra rare fucking shit.
Watching it, takes away from how brilliant the audio is.
REACH FOR 'EM, YA ''YELLA-BELLIED SIDE-WINDER"!!!!
Cattle, Pasture, Tabacco and Oil. Fields, rest, arms and tables. This shit, is reading between the lines. GUNS GUNS GUNS...
It gets worse a lot worst. Evil.
@superspocko I think I agree - weird, but yeah..I can tell it's either a different version then the single or I need new headphones! I was sure that, toward the song's end, there was a fantastic part where the symphonic strings begin to blend with the rhythm - that was one of my favorite things about this song! I think it's a very cool video , but I really have to admit the song seems to suffer for the style.. but I could be wrong..
i guess that's how Sycamore opened
Anyone know where the :
"We'll just sit back and wait." Quote came from?
I think a lot of the quotes were from 60's westerns. I don't know where to find the samples, but there's a chance it's from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), Once Upon a Time in the West (1968), or For a Few Dollars More (1965). Unfortunately they had so many samples from so many sources, I'm not even sure if they kept track - they were often using cassette tapes, often copied and shared between audiophiles.
cool stuff
Really well done and memorable..Very excellent . I do not like violence and guns. This is really brilliant.
Truly genius
I agree I am very impressed with this
There's also a 30-minute version that Negativland member Don Joyce presented in '89:

The end of it is missing :(
Is there a video for the 'Now' track?
Not yet.
hand made splice tape.
Genial!!
I'm pretty sure this is then, what about now?
Oh well.
"The gun and the bible" is also not bad.
I've never seen a man shot.
it's a sickness 😪
guns.
guns.
guns.
The more private citizens own guns to protect themselves the less need there will be for the police state.
Yeah dude people getting shot will definitely mean we don't need police!
@Gaiacarra I wasnt aware "internerd" was a word, sorry.
You must be very simple if that's all you get out of this.
Is this funded by the NRA or what?
Seems the opposite to me.
@@MkeKen67. Let's put it this way. I can't imagine the NRA objecting to it.
Children playing with guns as if they were toys accompanied by adults.
@blastingcaps Heh. I might be out of shape, but at least I can spell. Better to be fat than stupid, because at least I can diet!
I did say why: Bad music set to a bunch of commercials. Learn to read dum dum. I'd rather see the commercials by themselves, The music ruins it.
