Number Sense Routines for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade // how many ways to make a numbers

  • This number sense routine, Fill the Grid, is a great one to get students thinking flexibly about numbers and brainstorming how many different ways they can make a number. This number sense activity can be done whole group, in a small group, or independently as a math warm-up!     Thanks Susan! I'll be adding this to math talk routine.
    I think it would be good to add a step of sharing in partners before whole group *if time allows*...This would allow for an additional opportunity for sharing math strategies or thoughts.
