I think the grips look great! Very sleek and functional. It would just be my luck that I would bump into you at an airport one day in the future, be offered a ride only to find out you left the passenger stick at home. (I’d take the ride anyway, with pleasure) Loving the build.
I’m nearing this point on my 14 build and found this helpful. Great job on the videos. We started doing them when we began building but quickly found out how much of a time suck they are. Really appreciate those of you willing to put the effort in!
I think there have been a few people who found out how laborious the videos can be. Sometimes I struggle, but frequently it’s a nice break from the build. It also makes the garage a little less lonely. (That and Chomp Chomp!) Glad you found this one helpful! Thanks for the kind comment!
That’s basically what I was going for. And what I got. The only part I don’t know that I can live with is the slight side to side (twisting) free play that I got. Luckily, if it really bugs me, I can just tap the hole and add a socket head screw. And I may do just that.
It’s not “normal” per se, but a fairly common option with builders. I thought it would be nice to not have to take hands off the stick. There is still a traditional flap switch on the panel-safety dictates that. But something about coming around on base and final and just being able to hit the switch on the stick really appealed to me. The great thing about Pioneer Control Grips is you can determine all of this based on your preference and they’ll build it to suit!
How do those 3d printed grips feel in the hand? I really like the look of the pioneer grips, but was quickly turned off by the price of their wood/cf options.
They feel solid, comfortable. They don’t feel cheap. If you look up under the skirt you can see some of the lattice from the printer, but it would otherwise be unnoticeable. I think they feel better than most other grips I’ve tested out to be honest.
I love the ingenuity. That is the beauty of experimental. Love the video.
Thank you much! The grips are fun to have in the plane!
Glad to see that you were finally able to get a grip on the situation! I’ll show myself out.
I'll bet you get the same reactions I do around the house with material like that. 😉

We’d have to shove a snapped broomstick in the hole and send it. No PTT, but you could pretend you’re a Cub pilot and don’t need one.

I like the grips. You will forget about the top of them when you are flying and smiling 😊
Nope. I’m going to let my rather ridiculous tick ruin every flight.
But seriously, they’re pretty freakin’ slick!
Thanks for the “bonus footage”. Cool idea with the hacksaw blade.
Thank you!
We'll see if I keep the quick release, or go with a more "nuts-and-bolts" approach. I'm on the fence.
Looks like a great stick setup. I think I'll do the same!
I’m pretty excited about them. I thought I was making a bit of a concession by going printed, but I don’t really feel that way after installing them.
Somehow I knew when I gave you that box of old broken electronics when you were 3 or4 you’d go on to do amazing things!!
Nice choice on the grips. I’ll be getting the same for my 7A but will only have the trim, flaps and ptt buttons..
I think you’ll like ‘em. I sure do!
Maybe 2 of those contact points opposite each other will stop that. If it doesn't then you have the holes to stick a thin bolt right through
That’s a good suggestion. It may take the slop right out of it. Thanks!
You can also copy the same setup as used with adjustable crutches

Ryan.... I did not know that have flap controls on the stick was a thing. Is that something new, or is it a normal position for that component?
