She did actually take her advice and start reading. However, the more she read she began to realize that in that time it was next to impossible for a woman to rule and survive in that time and so she began supporting Peter again.
she realized that the world it s changing, and it could be the end of aristocracy, that s why she chose peter s side. she was afraid of losing her status and money
@@stefaniaareyoutube115 yes! she went to france and saw how empowering the people to learn (enlightenment era) and grow as a society inevitably leads to the downfall of aristocracy, so she came back to russia to usher in the enlightenment and in turn, bring about catherines demise. i looooove The Great. i love Elle Fanning man
What? At her time Empire of Russia, consisting of all eastern Europe was ruled by a woman. Same as the Habsburg Empire, consisting of most of central Europe, also ruled by a woman. That's more than half of the European continent, ruled by sovereign female monarchs.

@@neverstopschweiking the problem was that the monarchy was falling because of education, for example the relotionary ideas of france, not that a woman was rulling an empire

CAN WE PLEASE HAVE THIS SHOW BACK?!!!!
I really need to get my mind out of the gutter. That is not where I thought "I need to be punished" was going
My head was rolling about in that gutter with you Bob!
I wish she had stayed in France 😡 I wanted to like her because I think the actress is gorgeous and plays the charecter so convincingly. But the things her charecter did made my blood boil and disgusted me in so many ways. Sadly in my opinion her charecter had a weird and unsatisfying ending.
What is the show called?
@@problemchild3062 its called "The Great"
what was her ending?
Life often has a weird and unsatisfying end.
I love those purple earrings
Well played, it was because that makes anyone honor bound realize and return to their dues
I wish conversations went like this now lmao communication would be so much easier😂
Conversarion never went like this. 😂
she could at least have chosen a less desirable and join France by her own means, taking into account credibility would be a smart move when approaching someone who has enough of a will to overthrow a tsar
I really need to see this series
What’s the name of it? I’d love to see it too
what's the name of this show?
The Great.
IDK this show/movie but every time I see one of these clips I feel like I'm looking at a world where people either have the inability or just can't be bothered to lie. All the things they think and feel are perfectly normal. It's just that they state everything so openly and bluntly that's abnormal.
One of the dynamics the show returns to for jokes over and over is that the blonde character is played as an extremely sheltered idealist who is horrible at lying, and her husband is so used to being an undisputed monarch who owes no one an explanation for anything that he's never known the need.
@nicholascarter9158 lol...seems I guessed right.
Um I live my life this way 😂 and state things bluntly all the time, people laugh but I'm serious
I’m so here for that
Episode?
Catherine the Great would simply take out her angers upon the Polish people.
Seems to be a common theme thru out European history..
Who didn't do that in Europe?
@@davidwilson6681Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte? Freeing Poland and giving it a constitution.
That's why the Goddess created Poland. She's got a twisted sense of humor. 👍🙂
@ebbu.planespotting1903 The Duchy of Warsaw was a puppet state used to limit Prussia, Austria and Russia's territory, he didn't give a rats ass about the Poles. He was also Corsican not French so the historic alliance isn't applicable here.
Wait did they two actually sleep together?!
I think it was the first episode? Peter has a threesome with the two.
It was a threesome with Peter
No
Yes. Peter was getting oral from George and Catherine was trying to entice him since they had just got married. He told her to join them.
Yes,it's one of the first things to happen in the series after Catherine's arrival in Russia.
What movie is this?
The Great. A tv show on prime. It is about Catherine the Great of Russia, but it bends history and is more of a comedy than a historical drama.
"Die Hard" an 90's action movie franchise.
These Russians have the oddest accents.
Bunch of Russians and Germans, all with modern British accents, really gets under my skin.
Why are you watching it then. Go watch movies with proper German and Russian accents then. No one is keeping you here lol
Lmao, go and watch German or Russian TV Shows
That could have gone so many ways. lol
Going to need a ailments for that burn
*ointments
@flash2tz same thing
@hordelord4759 uh...quite the opposite 💀
@hordelord4759 not even close to the same thing. Maybe Google the words.
@@hordelord4759wow, you are confidently dumb!😅
Does this series present Catherine as a good monarch? Competent?
No. The entire premise is to see the other side of 'the Great'. Through the art of comedy, the show depicts Catherine not as only 'the Great Ruler' but also as an elitist,,shrewd, obnoxious, priviliged woman who wont stop at anything to get to the top. The interesting thing about the show is that it shows you that there is no difference between Catherine and her male counterparts. She was a ruler and politician.
@GullibleTarget I'm glad they didn't portray her well. She was a disaster for the Russians.
What show is this
The Great. Riveting and hilarious imo.
What is this show?
The great on hulu
Sex and the City the prequel
One is Katherine the Great, who's the other women?
What movie is this? I keep seeing clips from it
Not a movie, is a series about Katherine the Great.. empress of Russia. She took the throne from Peter the third.. she did good things for Russia unfortunately the next tsar removed all the good things she did.
The Tv series, The Great. Its not totally historically accurate, and acknowledges that, but people speak highly of it for being entertaining and lightheaded while keeping pace vaguely with what actually happened :)
@@mspaint93 that is correct that is not accurate, I've study Russian history and the show does things that didn't even happened..
The show is satirical comedy. Its not meant to accurate, you dummy😅@@Jozamendo
These Russians are just frat bros lol
Wait...THEY had sex?

France during this time wasn't the place for reading books. England perhaps. 😂
They look like sisters, right? If it wasnt for the hair, I feel like I would confuse them.
Other than having a fair ‘English Rose’ complexion and blueish eyes they don’t look very similar to me
@@vamvam7690 their noses are similar, and facial structure in general. With the same hair color they could be convincing twins.
@@DeadButPretty-dbp I think they have a vaguely similar look but not to the point where I would ever say they look like twins or could be confused for one another 🤷♀️
Exact same tiny button nose, similar shaped eyes, pointy chin and small forehead. Other than their coloring and lips they look exactly the same.
Not all white women look the same.
I'm sick of this shite
Oh good they prog slopped her into a bi curious because of course they did
I had never heard "prog slopped", I'll have to remember it.
Peter made cathy have sex with her lol
I mean, the shows portrayal of the degeneracy taking place in the aristocracy is actually very good, in my opinion! I cant stand having sex shoved down my throat in media, but it mostly fits in the show. I am much more bothered with how they put non-europeans in the show. Fair enough the show is very loosely based on real events but it kills all immersion to see black people play supposedly russian nobles. eugh.
