Just to be clear, as someone who doesn’t care about LOTR and takes the show at face value, i’ve been having fun watching it. 100% better than The Acolyte trash that disney put out. I tend to gravitate more towards sci-fi fantasy personally, but i think the LOTR show has been pretty cool for someone who knows nothing about the deep lore.
@HEXLOOM The quality of the cinematography aside; [Budget and cinema skill is partially there, I do admit, some scenes are beautifully crafted, and others are quite terrible] (not even going to mention the laughably choreographed fight scenes in some particular moments) The timeline, narrative content, and overbearing feeling of inauthentic character building of the show leads me to believe the creators are implementing know-nothing retcons and taking creative liberties that reflect their own imagination, and don't even closely adhere to source material. They never got the rights to the Silmarillion, so they cannot tell an honest and true story on the 2nd Age of Arda. I could write page after page of reasons why I don't even consider 'Rings of Power' a Tolkien-BASED work, let alone a telling of Second Age history, as the writers intend. If I am constantly reminded of how inauthentic, comically astray, and bastardized the modern adaptations are to the LEGENDARY work of art that is Tolkien's Legendarium, (Subsequently, his son's as well) How am I supposed to enjoy even a single episode? The narrative choices and storyline features they artificially created for this show are slaps to the face of Tolkien, and his legacy. I am sure he is quite literally spinning in his grave, over it. Not to say that Tolkien wouldn't have also been feeling the same way about the LotR trilogy, which is abhorrently different from source material, in many ways which simply break the plot. Remember, narrative choices in the LotR trilogy were taken as to not confuse watchers, and leave wide open plot holes. Find me a single Tolkien fan who doesn't enjoy the extended edition trilogy movies for what they are. Now compare that to Rings of Power, in the same aspect. How many die hard Tolkien fans absolutely abhor RoP? A lot. Rings of Power won't be like the original trilogy. People won't be talking about it 20 years into the future, with fond memories, saying "look how well it held up, even for it's time!". It just wont happen. I have read every work by Tolkien and his son, from the core Legendarium, to the vast amount of letters he wrote fans that are public. So forgive me for feeling 'a sort of way' about something I enjoy very much being warped into a story I cannot even recognize.
Im not a LoTR fan and cant really remember anything about the story from the movies but i found the show to be badly casted, badly written and poorly executed. I slogged through like half of the first season before i realised i dont have enough time left on this earth to watch dribble.
To someone needs to know this. Cause why not. Remember that kid that walked 26 some odd miles instead of going to hoco. I basically did that yesterday no water and walked 22 miles pretty much for no apparent reason other than I didn’t want to be at home
An excellent video even if my ears are still ringing from thanos day. But you did say each time it’s activated. The price goes up. You know what needs to be done

Dogshit show that bastardizes the original work.
is there anything at all about it that you like?
