13:36 woolie I totally understand not seeing iCarly because it was an American based show on nickelodeon but what's funny is that it was weirdly ahead of its time in concept, its a show from 2008 about 3 kids in Seattle that are basically content creators before that term was common .
Though I will give Woolie this: I've seen a bit of iCarly, mainly because it was on and I was bored, and even then I didn't really understand it. Though that might be from not even trying to understand.
Gamer poop and a lot of machinima channel shows was content I grew up on, including two best friends. Y’all literally put me onto fighting games and jojo my two obsessions
Woolie throwing in Dr. Stone to the "thing from my childhood I assume everyone knows" list fills me with a sharp and deep pain, not only because its maybe 5 years old and still getting actively adapted, but also because it means he's already written it off as "not for him"
@@_Jay_Maker_ Not really. Dr. Stone is one of the few examples of starting off on a bad foot and getting way better as it goes. It starts with a good hook but focuses on a romance with two characters in a tired will-they-won't-they situation. If this kept on it would have been cancelled within a few months. Realizing that it was a big mistake it basically throws those characters out in exchange for a much better cast, one that plays to the series strengths - doing science.
Digimon is legitimately a better series though, it just doesn't have the baby indoctrination comfort brand marketing appeal of Pokemon. And I'm saying this as a baby that was psychologically conditioned to view pokemon as a comfort brand and didn't adopt digimon until WAY later.

Yeah it's basically the opposite of what has caused the recent "reaction discourse" so to speak. The problem isn't simply _that_ you're showing someone else's stuff in your video, but when you're essentially just stealing what someone else made and get the views only for yourself. Semi-relevant but it's kind of how I feel about music/videogame piracy - I'm infinitely less concerned with someone hearing a song I made for free, than I am with someone else wrongly claiming credit for it. Downloading a game isn't "stealing it", but someone writing you out of the credits and/or selling your game with no royalties would be. Both of which are of course things publishers and record companies do...
Woolie watching that Titanfall animation...dear god, have I never felt a more relatable feeling than that. It's the ultimate bittersweet truth that Titanfall 2 is sustained by the fans alone and a single janitor at Respawn now.
Cats meow to each other when humans aren't around at all. They can communicate other ways through body language or smell but some still are vocal. Many feral cats will trill or meow when approaching other feral/strays.
Yeah, I find it to be an annoying over simplification. Ask just about anyone with more than one cat (me), and they'll recall any of the several times per week they meow at one another, especially when they have zoomies, and ESPECIALLY when you are trying to sleep.
The Puss in Boots edit was so good! Memes have reached a point where the editing is sometimes so amazing that it looks way better than some of the stuff you see in movies today.

1:08:50 As someone who doesn't make any content for an audience, I would think that people who keep watching despite getting frustrated by a let's player lack of skill or knowledge either A) find the let's player entertaining enough to stomach the frustration, B) like the game so much that they're just glad to see someone playing it (even if they suck), or C) both.

26:35 - CORRECTION! If you were to sprinkle a liquid that was less dense than water onto the surface of water, you CAN THEORETICALLY dry the Water from the Liquid, but you would have to find a Liquid other than water to do that with. Thank you, have a good day.
26:34 Is the surface of the ocean not *wet with oil* when there's an oil spill? Water *can* be wet specifically because it's not the only liquid in existence.
Water is wet, as wetness is an inherent trait of water. Water can make other things wet, it can wet things, and to the touch it is wet. Water is wet, saying it is not is needlessly cutting down on the uses of the word wet.
29:45 Why is church cringe so much more powerful than any other kind of cringe? Like, the second-hand embarrassment is strong enough to make me feel unironically sick to the stomach.
I love these variety watch compilations, but not as much as I love when the video is done or paused so that Woolie can explain the video or the reference to Reggie, or restate the funny opinion in the video as Reggie stares wide-eyed at him.
In Greek we say "κλείσε τα φώτα" which does directly translate to "close the lights" which is why you hear a lot of Greek speaking people make that sort of mistake. 29:00
Wait, wtf? That reporter half court shot happened at the high school I graduated from. I recognized the mascot and bleachers immediately. When did this happen?
My thought on the subject - In everyday usage, water can be wet but it cannot become wet. In the same way a soaked towel is wet but could not become wet once already wet. Technically, the two-tone scale of 'wet' and 'dry' is far too limited for how real water humidity and absorption works on a scientific level. Is why air humidity is represented by a percentage of how much water the air can absorb.
You take a cube of water that has mass, density, volume, and weight, you remove the top layer of water, you would still get another layer of water that will transfer the value of wet to anything it touches. If you freeze water and dip it into the square of water, you would be able make the iced water wet. The semantics thing is so weird because water is real, its not a piece of fiction.
The whole "close the lights" thing isn't that uncommon, and oddly enough it's present in every major language group. A fair amount of my extended family, particularly the older ones, all use the expression. I personally don't mind it, but it's one of the things that always poked at the back of my head when I was younger so I asked my grandfather why. He couldn't explain it and told me to ask my great-granduncle, who was at that time over 90 years old. His explanation was that when electricity was "new" (1900-1920s new zealand), they would be taught about wiring and power systems using roads and water pipes as analogues. So people would think of it as closing off / shutting off the power to the electrical thing, hence "close the lights" or "shut off the lights". The worst part of it all is that nobody in my family says "close the torch", they all say "turn off the torch". Guess torches don't count as lights.
Man, the different isekais. I've seen a bunch of the trash on that list and it's so true. It feels like the modern version just skips the whole introduction and just goes with "one day I woke up in this new world" without ever mentioning the "real" world again.
