Just wondering, do these tubes have a shelf life? Most vacuum tubes do, but this might be different. I'm worried that if I buy this, it could get damaged or just die in 3 or 4 years. Thoughts?
Great review. I’ve seen some good reviews about it. I have the AK2000T which is single tube and very noisy with bluetooth and if you knock it. The cayin M5 ultra is better in terms of noise. The tube modes however are not that obvious on these two devices. The woo tube mini is very good. In terms of sound, the best of the three. But it doesn’t have an in built battery. Hence I’m seriously considering getting the muse m5
I prefer the small and compact size of M5 Ultra. With Bluetooth connectivity it is going to be a great companion for the gym. One thing I wanna ask, does it get hot? I mean obviously in the Gym I will be putting this in my pocket. so I don't want it to get hot or too warm.
Torn between : Muse M5, BTR17 (which seems to be just KA17 with BT) and iFi Zen DAC v3. M5 sounds like the best pick for a bit extra just because the tubes would actually offer different flavor when you feel like "switch it up" (and portability over Zen). Granted Zen has XBass but EQ exists anyways. What would be your pick? I know Zen to Portables is a bit of an apple to oranges but just in general, same price range, same functionality.
Btr17 has the best functionality and portability but the M5 ultra has 2 distinct modes and looks freaking awesome. However, I can't remember if I mentioned it but the display is real hard to see if you're outside on a bright day.
@@PrimeAudioReviews In terms of sound, i guess all 3 sound fairly similar in regular mode (or as Muse calls it transistor mode)? Also, thank you. I'll wait to hear your full thoughts on the BTR17 when you drop the review. Sounds interesting.
Im a returnee to this hobby, so a lot of things are new. I know this is a portable device first, but how does it function as a desktop device? Which USB C port do I connect to my PC? Is it capable of bypassing the battery or have a charging limit if using it as a desktop device? Thanks.
You can use any USB port on your PC. The documentation doesn't mention anything about a charging limit (AFAIK) but if you're worried about it, you can just run it off the battery and give it some charge occasionally.
Same with me. The military grade stuff makes suspicious of the whole thing... Because as a matter of fact, military grade usually means build by the lowest bidder with plenty of grifting on the side... It is only seen as a positive for people not in the military or no knowledge of it.
I forgot to mention this will be available on the 23rd Oct. I'll be abroad from tomorrow so decided to post it early!

@titmusspaultpaul5 they should last anywhere between 3000-5000 hours of playtime.
Always excited to learn more from this channel 🎉
Does it have any digital output besides 3.5mm and 4.4mm balanced? Looks like a nice device to hook up with a stereo setup.
Just order one. Can't wait
Nice!

Does this unit charge limit itself when used as a desktop unit like the Chord mojo 2?
It's not in the documentation but I assume it does.

Nope, it gets mildly warm, never hot in my experience.

This or the Hiby R4?
Hiby r4 is a DAP. This is just a DAC/amp.
Would this be better sound quality than a A&K SE300
How do you know that tubes even do something if they doesn't do typical tube things?
You can switch between tubes and transistor modes on the fly and the difference is obvious.

Is the headphone strong bass warm and free of brightness is it worth buying? 7hz legato iem
This is perfect for the 7Hz Legato.
No figure on the power and output impedance?
Not listed in the specs.
@@PrimeAudioReviews hmmm. I wonder why.
Whats the power output of this? Is it more powerful than hiby r4?
I haven't seen it listed anywhere but it's enough for most things.
@@PrimeAudioReviewsyou didn't answer the question properly. R4?
I don't have the r4.
@@PrimeAudioReviews You give very thoughtful replies 😂
If they could stick a screen and SD card on it i'd buy it in a heart beat
That would be pretty awesome.
They did. It's called the Cayin N3 Ultra...
I'm like very new, and not familiar at all with tubes and DACs, but military -grade tubes? What in the world!
But okay, I get it.
