Nice review. The Xduoo xd05t has also just come out which offers the tube, solid state, Bluetooth and more powerful. It's quite a bit more expensive than the M5 but would still make for an interesting comparison.
One's sweet and warm is another's muddy and veiled. But in this era of transparent dacs and amps that sound the same, anything that can sound different is welcome.
Where did you get the Northern Electric amp from? Looking into getting something like that but I have heard some stories about the Little Bear and quality control issues in the past.
Tubes portable..ha4 they never over come it..I mean the prob.. That's y it's not practical for portablity except those nano tubes which in DAP lately but still Naa..I'd like tubes rollin' n that's makes portable just unavailable..meh..Peace!

Is the M5 a good pairing with IEMs that already have a lush midrange like the Pilgrim, Mega5est, Oracle Mk3 and others?
