Kaitlyn R true. Today's films are often sarcastic or cynical in some way with anti-heroes and humor-driven plots. While this is not too bad movies like LOTR felt a lot more compelling and were more quest-like; with dramatic tension leading to a showdown and teaching the values of right vs wrong, morality vs amorality and so on. There was this epic dimension that wore off in today's cinema (I'm thinking of recent Marvel movies when I say that). LOTR is an adventure that I wish everyone could be part of because it has simple but essential morals (friendship, sacrifice, devotion, faithfulness, etc.) that are disappearing because it's too outdated for latest trends. But in that process people forget and become as cynical and uncaring as modern heroes. Of course those movies are good too but they seem to be the norm now which makes me nostalgic for 2000s fantasy/sci-fi movies in a way.
Edge Of Light I think you've hit the nail on the head. Those are exactly the type of stories that are missing in cinemas now. Those very mythical, hero's journey-type stories that strive to uphold human goodness.
Never ending story perfectly fit in this caption - on the ending when Atreyu stands before Wolf Gmork - he ask why fantasia is dying and Gmork answer him - "Because People lost their hope and forgot about their dreams " Grim truth.
And then when someone realizes the whole story of Eärendil and become mindblown... so many don't realize all the amazing things inserted into the films that give accolades to the Silmarillion, Beren And Luthien, Children Of Hurin etc.
Iv always wondered Where did Gimli put the hair? In a pocket? Could have fallen out during battle. What would he have done with said hair? Would it have become a ‘family hairloom’?
S . Storumus I personally always imagined he would find a tiny glass vile to put the hair in (or some other kind of small container). But, since there’s no evidence as to where he put it, you can believe whatever you’d like :)
I can't remember that well but I have a vague memory that there is something in the cannon about him framing the three strands in a protective display of some kin, kind of like what Monica said, but big enough to be viewed.
I dont know if you remember, but I had said a while back how much you sounded like her! I'm so so glad you decided to do this, it's masterfully executed. In fact the performance is almost as amazing as the fact you did not trip while wearing that hood in the beginning :D I watched this all the way to the end in 360p, because HD hadn't loaded itself yet and it was still fantastic :D I actually fly to Amsterdam on Friday, I shall be sure to have a waffle in your honour!

Not talking about the "Galadriel" in this video as she is very good and safe, but the cannon Galadriel is the opposite of soothing, as when you first meet her you don't know whether she's going to turn you into a puff of smoke or do you a big favour. With each new person she meets she has a drastic internal debate within herself as to whether she's going to annilate you for her own evil gain or simply because she thinks you're a "bad person", or look after you like you're the most important person in the world. No middle ground, it's one of the other. And that decision comes down to how strong her "will" is to resist "evil" at the particular point in time that you've met her. She's DANGEROUS to meet for the first time! lol I feel more safe with Gandalf and Aragorn, as well as Arwen. There's more middle-ground. Elrond's also more even-tempered, you don't get those extremes you get with Galadriel. He might not be your best friend, but at least there isn't the risk of turning you into a puff of smoke based on an internal battle of will between good and evil lol
I've been having frequent panic attack episodes lately and this, as well as a few other videos of yours, have helped me out a good deal. Your voice is just so alluring 😴👍
I've watched this visual masterpiece at least 50 times and still enjoy it. Some of the speaking is delivered in a tempo I feel is faster than LOTR Elves use, but it may just be personal preference.
