I actually was able to make this hair last 9 weeks!! Its weird but the hair looks more natural as it gets older. It is alot of maintenance but worth it and it will last if you keep on top of it. I get more compliments on it now than I did when it was first installed!
Cam Henderson At night i separated it into two pony tails. In the morning i sprayed it with water and used Kids Organic Shea Butter hair Lotion. Also I detangled with my fingers and trimmed any rough edges daily. I did not miss one day of doing this routine. 9 weeks is as long as I can stretch it though. I also bought an extra package of hair and a crochet hook. If I saw any pieces that were looking really bad I removed them and put in a new piece. This also really helped to extend the life of it. This hair is high maintenance if you want to keep it in for any length of time
This is really very helpful. I don't know that I've ever have watched a night time routine for crochet braids. This is really informative and the 4-6 weeks is a great time line too.
a lot of this synthetic hair be looking too fake and shiny but this looks really good. it looks like virgin hair, at least on camera. But when they really start selling virgin hair without the tracks for crochet braiding, that'll change the game

You absolutely rocked this hair. This will be my very first braid style in about 20+ years and I am so nervous. I have seen other videos with this hair looking all dry and frizzy it make me second guess the choice. But after seeing this video and how well maintained you kept the hair and seeing its potential, I think I will go ahead and give it a try.

I am wearing this same hair pattern (short) but made the mistake of putting product on the hair...and now I know the hair doesn't require and it can last a total of 4 weeks with proper maintenance. I am going to redo this style this coming week and I will check in with you after the 4 week on its performance. I really want this to work because I do not want to waste money purchasing human hair when it is possible to utilizes the many beautiful synthetic hair patterns on the market today. Girl omgosh! Thank you!!! I just got deep twist crochet done and I have been desperately trying to take care of my hair good, but especially at night. Now i wear a scarf every night but i knew it had to be more other ways in keeping the hair pretty. God told me twist my hair at night just like u did girl, but i didnt listen. I treated the hair like curly weave hair i had done before, and the maintenance at night i did was i sectioned just like u did but i braided the hair. So i did that with the crochet but i have to admit the truth here, God did tell me try twisting first but i said no im gonna braid Lord. What an idiot! God was right as always, what was I thinking not listening to Him! Man! Now i run across ur night time routine and there u are twisting, girl...i felt so stupid, all i could do was say, "sorry Lord you were right. I should of listened to u." i didn't like how the braiding method looked when i took down my hair in the morning, so i will be twisting at night from now and following all ur advice. I wear this hair up to 8 weeks w little or no maintenance. I use moose. I also use the best detangler out there every now and then, esp hair at the back…Hawaiian silk! Head band and large bonnet. That’s it. And of course lay em edges w ebin . Looks great 6-8 weeks in. 1 of my fave hair!
I normally always do the Bohemian braid by Freetress but this hair is so stunningly beautiful on you I have to try it ! Im doing crochet braids tomorrow and have decided to run to my beauty supply store tomorrow and change the curl pattern! Thanks so much for a new idea. Hope it comes out well :)

Love your channel and all the fun packed information, tips and best practices you provide. Your video on nighttime care is spot on. I do have one question. When I use Freetress of Model Model wave hair (loose deep, water wave, bohemian, etc.), I always face the problem of the loop knots not holding. Even when I've tried to tie knot, the tie doesn't always hold. I'm sure you've addressed this issue on one of your vids (as you are so thorough), but could you let me know what works best for you when securing loop knots for hair types of the aforementioned. Much appreciated and much love for what you do and all the sharing!
nmaleespeaks patterson When you first install your hair it is a bit difficult to get the hair to 'knot' because it's very silky, especially when you're installing a loose deep type of curl pattern. If you try knotting the hair after a week, as you've given the synthetic fibers time to acclimate and 'create tension' (minor frizz) you can then create a knot. I'm still trying to master the knotting method for the looser patterns, but I gave you the best advice I can! =] I hope this helps.

I did watch your video on how to do crochet braids with Freetress Deep Twist, which is what I used. Is mousse necessary for the upkeep for deep twist hair? My stylist used alcohol free mousse. She applied on the hair before installing it, & applied more on the hair after she finished my hair. My hair came out beautifully, but to me, I think mousse kind of dulls the hair. What are your thoughts?

The hairstyle can last anywhere from two weeks to 6.0/6.5 weeks. I have a maintenance routine for curly/wavy crochet braids in my crochet braid playlist and I think you would appreciate itttt if you'd like to extend the longevity of your style! =]

I loveeed using the Model Model Twin Deep! I LOVE how the French Deep looks! I believe these videos would help you a great deal and I say go for the French Deep and definitely use THIS nighttime routine for extended wear =] I hope this helpssss.
I used 6 & half... the hair is not prelooped it's loose and it tends to tangle while separating to install.....6 bags is actually more than enough, just depends on the volume you'd like. I also did as the lady in this video but I added styling mouse by Lotta body to help detailed and add definition of curl.

Dominique Turner thank youuuuuuuuuuuu so muchhhh darling. I'm a bit confused by your question. The two strand twists are intended to help preserve/enhance the curl definition/pattern. It's the same idea as when you have a twist out... and at night... you re-twist the hair in small sections. You still have a twist out, but you've simply preserved your curl pattern. =] I hope this helpsss.

But you have to detangle your hair, gently, apply a conditioner your scalp and the synthetic hair to preserve it. I have a video showing the routine in my crochet braid playlist! =]
Hi! First of all, I'd like to commend your fabulous hand work when it comes to your hair videos on TH-cam (I've truly learned so much). However, I wanted to ask about your specific technique for crotchet hair braiding; if someone didn't have enough hair to braid for the cornrows at the base underneath the extension, could you add pieces to it to make a fuller braid so that the hair may stay closer? I know this is a technique used primarily for weave sewing but I was wondering if this is a possibility for hair crotchet as well. Please let me know!

Flava4u2c yessssssss, this hair can get wet. I swam in my crochet braids, but after you swim, I encourage you to co-wash. Use a moisturizing conditioner for your scalp (due to chlorine/salt) to help you finger detangle the hair. Please, use the same two strand twist method shown in this video and do that after you detangle but BEFORE you go into the shower and rinse the hair. When swimming... put your hair in a low ponytail. Don't tug on it. Always finger detangle and separate the hair, that will be your savior.

I wear this hair up to 8 weeks w little or no maintenance. I use moose. I also use the best detangler out there every now and then, esp hair at the back…Hawaiian silk! Head band and large bonnet. That’s it. And of course lay em edges w ebin . Looks great 6-8 weeks in. 1 of my fave hair!

Love your channel and all the fun packed information, tips and best practices you provide. Your video on nighttime care is spot on. I do have one question. When I use Freetress of Model Model wave hair (loose deep, water wave, bohemian, etc.), I always face the problem of the loop knots not holding. Even when I've tried to tie knot, the tie doesn't always hold. I'm sure you've addressed this issue on one of your vids (as you are so thorough), but could you let me know what works best for you when securing loop knots for hair types of the aforementioned. Much appreciated and much love for what you do and all the sharing!
nmaleespeaks patterson When you first install your hair it is a bit difficult to get the hair to 'knot' because it's very silky, especially when you're installing a loose deep type of curl pattern. If you try knotting the hair after a week, as you've given the synthetic fibers time to acclimate and 'create tension' (minor frizz) you can then create a knot. I'm still trying to master the knotting method for the looser patterns, but I gave you the best advice I can! =] I hope this helps.

Your video is very helpful & had made my life easier. Lol. This is my 2nd run with crochet braids & I love them. I do have a question. I did watch your video on how to do crochet braids with Freetress Deep Twist, which is what I used. Is mousse necessary for the upkeep for deep twist hair? My stylist used alcohol free mousse. She applied on the hair before installing it, & applied more on the hair after she finished my hair. My hair came out beautifully, but to me, I think mousse kind of dulls the hair. What are your thoughts?

The hairstyle can last anywhere from two weeks to 6.0/6.5 weeks. I have a maintenance routine for curly/wavy crochet braids in my crochet braid playlist and I think you would appreciate itttt if you'd like to extend the longevity of your style! =]

I used 6 & half... the hair is not prelooped it's loose and it tends to tangle while separating to install.....6 bags is actually more than enough, just depends on the volume you'd like. I also did as the lady in this video but I added styling mouse by Lotta body to help detailed and add definition of curl.

Dominique Turner thank youuuuuuuuuuuu so muchhhh darling. I'm a bit confused by your question. The two strand twists are intended to help preserve/enhance the curl definition/pattern. It's the same idea as when you have a twist out... and at night... you re-twist the hair in small sections. You still have a twist out, but you've simply preserved your curl pattern. =] I hope this helpsss.

But you have to detangle your hair, gently, apply a conditioner your scalp and the synthetic hair to preserve it. I have a video showing the routine in my crochet braid playlist! =]

First of all, I'd like to commend your fabulous hand work when it comes to your hair videos on TH-cam (I've truly learned so much). However, I wanted to ask about your specific technique for crotchet hair braiding; if someone didn't have enough hair to braid for the cornrows at the base underneath the extension, could you add pieces to it to make a fuller braid so that the hair may stay closer? I know this is a technique used primarily for weave sewing but I was wondering if this is a possibility for hair crotchet as well. Please let me know!

I recently used Cuban twist hair and it is awful! It is nappy and gets knotted together. I don't recommend it to anyone!

Flava4u2c yessssssss, this hair can get wet. I swam in my crochet braids, but after you swim, I encourage you to co-wash. Use a moisturizing conditioner for your scalp (due to chlorine/salt) to help you finger detangle the hair. Please, use the same two strand twist method shown in this video and do that after you detangle but BEFORE you go into the shower and rinse the hair. When swimming... put your hair in a low ponytail. Don't tug on it. Always finger detangle and separate the hair, that will be your savior.
