For such a decent looking build, it sucks to see you had bad tracks. From what I’ve seen on the channel, it seems kind of rare for COBI to have that kind of a problem.
It’s a consistent issue I see ppl having with this set in particular must be how the build is designed
@@Yoru.Paradise the design did contribute to the issue I think, but the track quality is mainly the problem. But at least you can order the track separately and change it.
I have the original and comparing the old set to this is truly disappointing to me

Amazing, Cobi's model design is so good they are even able to replicate the original vehicle's unreliability and mechanical faults. And poor engine access. Better spring for the special edition, you're going to need that mechanic.
Cobi should honestly be ashamed. This kind of QC issue is unacceptable for a premium brand. They should apologize, revert the tracks back to the old mold, or otherwise fix the issue, and send out new tracks to anybody who needs them.
i had this issue a bunch of times with cobi tracks but generaly wearing them from for example left ot right and not right ot left fixed it
I think it may just be very rare thing I have one with the new mold for tracks it is fine I think his just had a casting problem but still it is bad (also not trying to be rude your point stands and I argre)
It's always a bad day when Cobi starts cheaping out on their models.

COBI hat das mit dem "möglichst nah am Original" hier etwas zu ernst genommen. Egal, als Displaymodell immer noch gut genug für mich. Was gibt es besseres, um auf diesem Kanal ins neue Jahr zu starten, als ein COBI 1:28 Review? 😁

I really hope Cobi isn't going to start going downhill the way Lego has with their quality control. The 1:28 Jagdpanther was my first bad Cobi experience after having built many wonderful sets, with a very fragile design that caused parts to repeatedly fall off while building. This new Ferdinand looks problematic, too. Cobi had for years been totally trustworthy, with excellent brick quality and set design, but now I'm getting worried :( Prices have gone up in the US, too.

@@Beezleboob That Jagdpanther was depressing: my first bad Cobi experience was with one of my favorite WWII AFVs. I had been looking forward to that set.
I've built a lot of the German and Soviet armor sets, as well as some of the ships and a sub. All good to outstanding. I'd likewise recommend just about any of the current 1:28 Tigers, the Panzer I through IV sets, and the Karl without reservation. The King Tiger is nicely done, but I'm not a fan of the brick-built camo, which looks pretty wonky. The 1:35 German utility vehicles are also really good sets.@@Beezleboob
I never bother with figures for any product line: Cobi, Lego, etc. I think they all look silly, so I put them in a bin :) But the vehicles and guns should be more or less to scale with each other. (I know it will never be precise because of the limits of bricks. For proper scale models, I just build plastic model kits.) Anyway, the 1:35 Schwimmwagen and Kübelwagen are quite nice.@@Beezleboob

People be complaining that some 1:35 scale models feel too fragile and so Cobi listened by giving 1:28 the same treatment.
Let's hope you only got a terrible batch of tracks and this doesn't persist on future models... They did say production issues was why they delayed the standard edition Ferdinands, but conveniently the Limited Editions are ready to ship.

Vielen Dank für dies zeitnahen Video, auch für den Vergleich der Ketten! Ich habe das Problem der sich lösenden Ketten durch ein zusätzliches Kettenglied pro Seite gelöst. Jetzt laufen sie butterweich! Die gesamte Kette sitzt dadurch nur etwas zu locker, das ist aber nur beim Hochheben des Panzers ein Thema! Die Steinequalität ist insgesamt schlechter ( Gußgrate, Klemmkraft, Passform )! Bauschritt 85 hast du ja elegant übergangen!😊. Ein frohes und friedliches 2024.
Übrigens, bei der einfachen Version werden auch keine Ketten / Schläuche mitgeliefert. Dadurch wirkt der Panzer "nackt"!

I cannot confirm it right now, but I'm almost sure, that track piece here is 57919, same as in IS-2
I bought said tank few months ago as my first (in ~20 years) cobi ground vehicle, to see how it is in person. And I had exactly the same problems, tracks were easily hooking up on parts, falling off, it was pretty much immobile. I decided to spend a few minutes trying to fix it. I made sure everything was as in the instructions, I pressed all the parts together as much as possible, I moved idlers and sprockets a little bit away from the chassis to "channel" the tracks more. And it worked, since then I had zero problems with moving this tank. Just now I took it for a spin after some time of sitting on a shelf, still works perfectly, no matter how fast I roll it. Since buying that tank, I got two more - M1A2 and T-72; and when building them, I took special care to set up wheels, skirts etc. as good as I could. I saw opinions about bad tracks in T-72 too - but did not encounter them myself. Not once have they fallen off or hooked up somewhere
This is of course only my personal experience with very limited sample size, I cannot speak for everyone. My problems with tracks were not caused by tracks themselves, but rather a bit "fragile" wheel setup, that needed more care. How is it with Ferdinand, I dont know. Maybe but design, maybe bad batch of pieces, or maybe I just got more lucky with mine being better than average. But I think that more opinions are needed here

While it looks pretty good (except for the weird brick camoflage, i wonder when they will finally stop doing that) the quality of the set is def not up to Cobi standarts, i hope that‘s just a single set problem and not Cobi decreasing the quality to save money.
However what i wonder is why we already have 2 Panzerjäger Tiger (P) sets and not a single *actual* Tiger (P) set yet
The brick camo is one of Cobi's few bad ideas. It's always looked terrible. Blocks just aren't suited to replicating camo patterns the way you can with airbrushed model kits. On the bright side, a lot of the single-color sets looks amazing on the shelf.

All my sets with camo use the brick-built camo. I wish some of mine had it printed so there could be proper curves!@@Angelthewolf
@@SO-ym3zsBrick camo with printed camo patterns actually work well. The Polish M1A2 build is an example.
There is the same track problem in Jadtiger set :(
Got elefant yesterday and here is how to fix tracks:
1. Move rear axle one stud further. No extra parts needed.
2. Snip tension/drive axles about 2 mm with pliers. Tension wheels are not alingned withsupport wheels, so they will hook up. One cant do anything with support wheels, but axles are fair game.
3. Add one track chain to each track. I had 1 extra track included, and some spare ones from remaining builds, but there shouldnt be any issues. You will have one extra track either way, and maybe use one from the decoration on the tank.
Elefant will look much more like its supposed to with tracks resting on middle wheels, but not lose enough to fall off.

Now I see why my IS-2's tracks keep snapping for no obvious reason, that's terrible. Hope they listen and revert back to the old tracks.
The tracks are just realistic, in order to reflect the reality of German vehicles on the Eastern Front.

I wonder if this will be coming to Canada, got the IS 2 and JAGDPANTHER for Christmas but this also look really cool and I’ve never seen it before
(My tracks where like that on the IS2, every time I drive the would get caught and unhook but the model is still really cool)
I have a King Tiger model, same tracks. Not a single problem with those tracks.

Try putting some clear tape to eliminate the ridges where the tracks catch, might help a bit

Da kann die Qualität schon drunter leiden. Denn das ist nicht Cobi typisch... Eigentlich 😊 P. S. Uhhh, das Problem mit den Ketten ist mir neu... Don't worry COBI is just being historically accurate. The real ferdinand had tons of mechanical troubles.

Those tracks spoil what would otherwise be a fantastic model. Ive no love for the Ferdinand as such (sooo many German tanks lately, how about a 1:28 Cromwell or Churchill?!) but I'm really pleased we finally get a turret with space for a crew in addition to a fully assembled gun including the breech.
Sadly the track quality issue is a worrying development. Lego costs more and up to now I'd have said Cobi was far better value because they put out better models for less. I would rather Cobi put prices up a bit and retained their quality, rather than try to hold prices and put out inferior parts.
@BrickMeet Whats the part number on new trackpiece? Manual is not available online yet but if there was a change, the part number should be different. Can You check? I believe that tracks of this colour should be in panther tank. You could compare.

Hey im sorry i havent been watching your videos as much as i used to. I have 9th grade finals and im in Utah. Im catching back up though and i can buy from a different company to buy COBI in the USA for cheaper shipping.

Dunno why you not complained to cobi as they will replace the entire set of tracks. Cobi policy if it missing or not right we will send a replacement. also seems the tracks are too tight. Still it a vast improvement on old ferdie and elephant. I have old ferdie and it like a brick. Still got to build my L/E. Also be buying Elephant and Ferdie (project Tiger p, needs a Tiger 131 as well).
Firstly, there is a legal obligation to replace defective parts up to one year after purchase. That is not for service reasons. Secondly, forwarding sometimes takes 3 weeks. When one finally has the set at home after sometimes waiting months longer, and also having to wait weeks longer before it is correct, is not pleasant. If something like this happens very rarely, who am I to complain? However, Cobi has already had to send me 11 replacement parts in 2023. That's way too often! I have already brought one claim to the attention of customer service four times, but have not even received an answer yet. Haste makes waste.
@@kattepis6214 Wow that a lot of missing parts. Only ever had 2 Cobi sets missing parts and they usually just send a email for missing parts to say it shipped. Also i had a older kit missing a plate way past the one year mark and they sent me the same old part. Also Cobi doing there best. Could be a machine or human error why parts are missing. Also i find it the larger Cobi kits that missing bricks. 1/12 Cobi Tiger every one had parts missing on that beast.

Cheapened quality on an official Cobi model. You hate to see it. Hope this isn't the new standard as Cobi's usually pretty excellent for the quality, and functionality of their rolling treads. Other than that a very nice/detailed display model to kick off 2024. The side build for motorcycle is also very cool.
Hear me out. Cobi is making their sets historically accurate, now making the tracks break (What the Porsche tiger had issues with alongside the engineS). Just be happy until it doesn't catch on fire.

It gives me the impression that Cobi has certain blocks produced in China. That could also explain the delays. In addition, it is noteworthy that the manual states "printed in EU". Why not "made in"? However that's what it says on the box. The Made in the EU label would indicate the product is MAINLY MADE in the European Union. It does not impose an obligation that some parts indeed may come from outside the EU. I have noticed in the past year that block quality has become worse. They clamp heavily or not at all. Cobi should become more transparent in this regard, otherwise it should carry out stricter quality control.
There boxes have traditionally always said made in EU (Poland, specifically). The ones I have lying around say that still. I wonder if they started outsourcing or opened other factories?
@@SO-ym3zs yes the boxes do, but not the bookles, they are saying "printed in EU". Why is that? Again, The "Made in the EU" label would indicate the product is MAINLY MADE in the European Union. @@SO-ym3zs The "made in EU" provision was a Polish (!) proposal, which never passed. Some countries were firmly against it, a "United States of Europe" is still far away, so not impossible. For example, a French winemaker does not want to equate his wine with wine from Eastern Europe. Its use is therefore controversial. In the meantime, even the most renowned parts use parts outside Europe. There are no laws or regulations about this. For example, my company in the Netherlands is working on "Dutch bicycles" that are made entirely in various Asian countries, but are assembled in the Netherlands and sell their bicycles for a lot of money. I have almost everything from Cobi, but last year I noticed strange quality problems that cannot always be attributed to a defective machine, such as poorly fitting and/or clamping elements or color differences. Many smaller parts such as caterpillar tracks do not contain a logo, which may as well have been purchased from Quan Quan. Recently I was missing one such particle (never happened before) that I couldn't replace with older parts that were left over. If there really is 100% Polish production, the company should be deeply ashamed of its poor performance. After all, prices have risen considerably.
@@kattepis6214 Thanks for the detailed info. I really hope this is just a temporary problem that Cobi will sort through. They have been one of the highest-quality, most-reliable Lego alternatives up until now.
You know it's bad when the start of the video is the failures reel ... just ... yikes. This is also really unlike Cobi ... I'm hoping it's just a one-off, but to compare them to Quan Guan (who ... yeah, I know how bad they are) ... that's a bad sign. Maybe I'll hold off a bit on any Cobi pulls this year ......

Idk, but this model has only gun elevation, seems no gun depression. Maybe inaccuate, and gun is the most important thing of tanks

Its time to vote with our wallets and not buy Cobi anymore. Sick and tired of this practice. Lego is just the same. My new Lego set has 2 shades of white. One shade is normal, the other is transparent white wtf?
It is terrible for the parts, WHERE YOU HAVE TO PUT THE ROUND CLIPS INTO SQUARE HOLES. I HATE WHEN MY FINGERS FEEL EXTREME PAIN FROM SQUEEZING THE SHARP EDGES OF THE FREAKING CLIP TO INSERT IT INTO A F#CKING SQUARE GAP AND ACHIEVING NO SUCCESS
You need more practice for sets like this and you'll see it will get easier 😉
@@BrickMeet I dunno I was just stuck on that moment where you need to build the front hull. It just seems impossible to squeeze this clip through the block, and that is why I used some spare lego pieces (luckily I had some)
