- The plaintiff brings his mom to court. He says the defendant called the police to conduct a welfare check on him, and they broke the door and lock. He’s suing for the cost of repairs. The defendant argues her son’s grandmother was worried about him because no one heard from him for several months. She doesn’t think she’s responsible because the cops broke the door, and she is just a concerned mother.

Today the Judge ACTUALLY made me angry and since I am a big fan of her, to reach this boiling point means, that she was REALLY, REALLY wrong and out of line this time!
Not everyone has the same relationship with their family as JM has…and she should have respected that! To throw him out the court room was totally uncalled for!
I understand that the plaintiff lost his case, because the police were the ones who kicked in the door…so he can’t make the mother pay for it.
BUT…!!!
I 100% AGREE with the plaintiff, that he has the RIGHT to live his life THE WAY HE PLEASES…
…and if he chooses, that that means ‘without his mother’, the mother should NOT have the possibility to intervene in his life anyway, regardless of HER motives for doing so!! 😡
I also don’t buy her ‘I did nothing wrong, I just care for my baby boy, I am an innocent angel with ONLY good intentions’-attitude, because even a blind man can see right through her (bad, amateur level) performance!
Because THAT’S what that was: fake emotions and bad acting!
(It should be obvious to everyone that NOBODY makes such a decision (to end all contact with their mother) without a (for them) valid reason! I know this from experience!)

I’m the same way. My mom’s usually pretty good about replying to texts quickly. One time she didn’t-I’m talking hours where she hadn’t replied, which isn’t normal for her-and I literally got in my car and drove all the way across town to check on her and make sure she was okay. Turns out she’d left her phone on silent and laid it down somewhere and just wasn’t thinking about it because she was busy doing some other stuff haha. But I was totally ready to call up everybody I knew if I had to.
The real hell is when your child is a homeless addict that you never hear from.

No unless you're being paid to be on call you're not required to answer anything from your employer unless of course you want to and you like them. I worked in a law office for 35 plus years and answered all calls from my employer but he also paid me if I had to go in or he wanted me to do something. But it shouldn't be required
I know everybody want to be on the mother's side, but it's obvious he didn't want to deal with her anymore, and he intentionally tried to stay away from the family. They all knew he was intentionally keeping their distance from them, so of course he wasn't going to contact them or answer their calls (whether it be months, years, or for life). It might be petty, but it's his right to never speak with them again, if that is what he wanted. They should have left him be or contacted someone they knew he still had a relationship with, and ask them to reach out to him.

Me too! When my dad died I used to call her every morning to make sure she was okay. Drove her insane - in a good way! One day she didn’t answer I was panicking and drove to her house - she was fine, just outside 😂 Thank goodness my brother lives with her now so I can stop worrying.

The son is obviously in an alternative lifestyle with his “partner” & does not want the mom & dad to know too much about it so he’s skipped out on his family. It is what it is. But this "man" still had no case and no right to sue his mother. She didn't kick in the door herself and was not the cause of any wrongdoing. He can be angry with her all he wants, but the only people he'd have any right to sue is the police department that actually went to his residence.
The screws holding the door latch and hinges are only 1/2 inch long and only penetrate the door frame which is held in place by tine nails a child could kick your door in. Replace them with 3 inch screws that penetrate the 2x4's framing of the house they also make upgraded door latches that have more than 2 screws to hold them in place.
The defendant has a few screws loose as well
