That's a great idea. I knew that they were astringent, but never knew about the anti-bacterial qualities. Thanks for the link, I enjoyed the video and the new knowledge!
Crushing the acorn and soaking it in a creek or leaching it also takes the Tannon (bitterness) out of it. Cool new way I didn't know about. Never heard of steaming them. Thanks. OMG Chestnuts? I love them! I got to try this. Wow stink stopper to boot! Great video I'm sharing this.
I did not know this about acorns. Really appreciate your videos on things like this. Hygiene is very important. A lot of folks do not care to watch videos about what plants such is good to eat and also has other uses. Thank you very much for sharing this knowledge.
You could market that as a New Gourmet Cover Scent. Smear it in your hat and your sweaty areas! The deer will come strait to ya! New knowledge to me, Thanks!
Hi Bill ! Great video ! I watched your walnut husk video and I was hooked on your intelligence of things that I'm greatly fond of . Your an asset to the world , old school and no nonsense . I have one complaint though , your sound is not good . You have a quiet bassy voice that tends to blend in with your background. Maybe a cheap little mic wired or Bluetooth. I think it will help alot. Your video is great good shots , steady , focused, lit well , it's all great but the sound needs work. Well please keep up the knowledge flow. I for one will say your contributing to the world in a great way . People will pass your knowledge to thier friends and children .
That was a great video, I learned a lot! I did not know you could use the water to bathe in! I will have to add this to my list of things I want to try. I'm looking into making pine needle tea, do you have a video on that yet? I really like the way you explain things, it's very easy to understand and follow along. Thanks, Billy! Have a wonderful New Year today :)
thank you very much ,you will like the acorn wash . so many things we have forgot to pass down though the years.. I've only tried pine needle tea a couple times , a survival drink with some vitamins but not so good taste..
Hi Bill, That is a great tip and something I think I'm going to try. Thanks for the info. Audio is a little muffled Bill and with my hearing discrepancy I had to listen hard. Not sure if you can fix that or record audio on a different device? But image quality was great. What camera did you use? All the best Sandy
Hey Bill, never ate acorns before but been wanting to try it. I got the peculator type coffee maker, will that work? Of course it'd be bathing in the stuff that drains to bottom. I guess I could rig the basket up somehow. Maybe one day you can make a video of how to make acorn coffee.
Hey Billy Joe... you reckon that'll work for most all kinds of acorns? I got a ton of 'em laying in the yard... I'm thinking a little sea salt and some freshly steamed acorns might be pretty tasty!!!! ---Chris
I wonder what you did differently with recording this vid (sound quality wise) as compared to the one where you were making flax seed oil. When played on my desk top computer, this vid sounds like the camera is inside a bucket or something instead of natural. Still an interesting vid... will see what my acorns look like in the front yard... hopefully not too many worm holes in them... curious what steamed acorns taste like... have tried chestnuts before... use a knife to make a slit in the shell on one side, stick it in the microwave for 1 minute... watch it spin in circles at a ridiculous pace (FUN FOR KIDS) while letting off steam during the cook, and are ready to eat once shelled... kinda like solid mashed potato flavor.
sorry for the sound , I'm not sure what i can do now.. seems ok on this end. give it a go a let me know your thoughts . there are not bad and the wash works great .. ..bill
