    Actually having a true "no added sugar" diet is hard when you're always eating out. Many dishes that aren't sweet have small amounts of sugar added. Might just be just a small percentage of the portion but it is still added sugar :'-)

    I have eczema too, and we should definitely reduce added sugar in our diet. Sugar contributes to inflammation and make it worse.

    I haven't had sugar as part of my diet now for about 17 weeks and I feel so good, not as tired after work, I added more water to my diet from 2 to 3 Litres per day and I've lost almost 40kg in weight, which really helps when you work in a hospital and have to move around quickly all the time. Little things can make big changes 😊

    Pretty sure some of the food eaten had some sort of added sugar in it.
    Which shows how hard it is to have a low sugar diet or for the people suffering from diabetes.
    The only way to avoid any form of added sugar meals/drinks is naturally occurring ones like fruits and non-processed food and most of that is boring assed healthy food.
    God help me if I ever have to cut down on sugar(Natural or processed).
    Also me... Typing this while sipping on my Koi Cacao Barry Large Less Ice 25% Sugar with Aiyu Jelly at 3am. Help la.
    Sugar addiction is real and the sugar industry got us on a leash.

    There are so many sugar free food and drinks out there, you just have to look for it. E.g Coke Zero, abunch of sugar free cookies and so much more, even liho has stevia option!

      @@John_Bull_ sugar has clear links to diabetes and obesity. Sugar substitutes have no clear links. Even aspartame (which is NOT in coke zero in sg) has no clear link to cancer unless consumed in excessive amounts i.e more than 10 cans of coke LIGHT a day. Amount of stevia in Liho is negligible in terms of how much u can consume in a day to exceed the limit. Besides, stevia isnt cheap, u think liho will give u alot? Its more than 200 times sweeter than sugar hence only a small amount is required. dont spread wrong info that sugar is healthier

    Natural sugar and added sugar is the same. This video was very interesting and eye opening cause i didnt know how unhealthy an average singaporean's diet was. We shoudl replace our cravings with healthier alternatives like sweets for fruit and check the ingredients of the food we buy at the super market .

    • @LittleStrawbirdy
      @LittleStrawbirdy ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It is definitely not the same. Natural sugar like fruits comes with fiber, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. 20g from fruits vs 20g from soda is definitely not the same.

    Some savory cooked foods also have added sugar, right? Like some sambal. Don't those count as cheating? Sugar cane drink is also cheating since Sugar is made from sugar cane, right? Same for honey

    There is high sugar content in fruit so Suryan did not really experience a no sugar diet. And sugar cane drink...come on - its basically sugar water lah. And honey is all sugar too. But yes, it's a very good exercise to try to do some sugar detox. I can cut out a lot of things but dessert is so hard to give up. Especially in Singapore with all the yummy kueh. Much easier to eat healthy diet back in US coz so expensive to eat out so just cook simple food at home and since lazy to cook tend to eat less. A typical day for me: oatmeal for breakfast, lunch is avocado toast or eggs and toast plus salad. Dinner is one dish meat and veg plus rice or pasta and salad. No chicken rice, chay kway teow, wanton mee, and all the delish Singaporean dishes to tempt me. And friends wonder how I stay thin when I visit - well - that is how LOL.
