It's not unheard of for the person who is being abused to get angry at someone who hurts or tries to hurt their abuser. I've seen a guy beating the hell out of his girlfriend and another guy came up and punched the abusive asshole. The girlfriend, who was covered in bruises and blood because, let me repeat, her boyfriend had just been on his way to beating her unconscious, then gets up and starts screaming at the second guy and attacked him, telling him not to hurt her boyfriend. She threw a kid's bike at him and everything. I'm not saying anything like that happened here, just explaining how that situation might arise. Being abused regularly over a period of time changes who you are and how you think. Many see the abuse as their own fault, as in "if i had/hadn't said or done this, they wouldn't have beat me". Some actually see it as part of showing "love", or what their abuser has twisted them into believing love is, sort of like "they're correcting me when I'm wrong so they're just trying to help make me a better person by beating me". Others convince themselves that their abuser doesn't mean it and just truly cannot help themselves. There's many other justifications for it but they've been convinced that they're worth nothing and no one else would even have them. But they've also been convinced that they can't do anything on their own so they need their abuser for basic existence. People like to blame the victims for just not leaving but don't realize that many just don't possess the same logic or reason they once had. They've been twisted to believe what their abuser wants them to believe and their perspective isn't anywhere near the same as someone who is outside of the relationship. In the situation above, they might also see it as them having to protect their abuser because if they don't, it's something they'll get in trouble for later and get beaten again. In the scenario I witnessed, the guy just let the woman come at him and kept backing away until the police arrived. He seemed aware of at least some of the abused mentality and didn't take it personally or hold it against the woman. But others don't see it that way.

Please don't ask why because I'm just spinning my wheels now. Plus the guy was about to confess sooner, but investigator interrupted him to offer him an "out". I was like, dumbass, he was about to start telling you some shit. Never interrupt an idiot when he's about to make a mistake. Hold on there fella, let me give you 10 more minutes to think about it while I waste time with this long explanation about a self defense alibi.
Just a little advice: when they read you your rights and ask if you want a lawyer you better ask for that lawyer and don't say anything else - doesn't matter whether you're guilty, innocent or just a witness.
It's actually not always good advice. Because they'll throw you in a cell for 20 hours as soon as you ask for a lawyer. It's a bad system full of corruption and coercion. You can't always just go by the book "i want a laywer" if it's some small thing they are questioning you about.
I like your videos better because you have commentary but you don't interrupt the video every 10 seconds like the others. I hope you keep making content.
It’s crazy that I started to believe what the defendant had to say. I genuinely felt bad for the guy. It’s a good thing the guy shot lived and got to testify, or else the couple could’ve gotten away with murder.

After thinking about it for a bit, the length of the convictions make sense, but they always shock me initially after watching JCS’s, because the detectives are always so casual and nonchalant. “Who cares about drugs,” “who cares about where the gun is now.” They make everything seem so minor until I actually start thinking about the true ramifications of the matter.
Yeah if you watch the “don’t talk to the police” there was some discussion of this. The opinion of the detective is irrelevant for a criminal charge because the state brings charges. The cop did mention that he is able to arrange more lenient sentences for those that are more cooperative (ie if you’re helpful and reasonable you might do 6 years instead of 10). But the “alternative question” or proposing a more lenient motive is only an attempt to extract confession, because from the law’s perspective most of the time the exact nuance doesn’t matter.
@@dgillian183 I assume he never listened to the final results of the trial where it puts it as cold blooded. Most of the video it sounds like an accident.
Imagine being so dumb that when you ask a cop in an interrogation room to turn off the recorder for a minute that you actually believe that you're no longer being recorded. 😂
Yeah this entire interrogation I'm thinking, has this guy not seen any sort of cop show, forensics show, or interrogation ever? Because he seemed pretty friggin ignorant of everything. Yeah I'm totally going to convince them I only shot her once, accidentally. They'll never find those 3 bullet holes in her skull.
As the cop was reading him his rights, saying they can't use coercion ... I'm thinking, slapping a picture of his kiddos down right in front of him before you even say anything is pretty damn coercive lol. That guy looked immediately defeated as he put his head down, and the cop was thinking, "got em!".
I don’t get why all of these people sit there talking to the guys who’s job it is to build cases against them. No lawyer. Just confessing everything. I mean, I’m glad when guilty people get caught. It just amazes me how many guilty people never ask for a lawyer. Even if your innocent, never talk to the cops if they are eyeballing you…
Never talk to the police at all. Everything you say can and will be used against you. Nothing you say will help you, best to invoke your 5th amendment and talk to a lawyer
Yeah, it always baffles me. I think alot of them think that asking for a lawyer or refusing to talk makes them look more guilty, but it's much worse when you end up incriminating yourself. Everyone, guilty or innocent, should ALWAYS ask for a lawyer first.
people not into true crime dont realize the importance of them getting you to talk on average, I think most people in this situation think the only thing that can come out of talking is talking their way out of the charges, they think whatever is going to happen is already going to happen and talking can in no way make it worse but maybejust maybemake it better. Also a lot of people probably talk simply to delay the inevitable of being put in a cell even for a few minutes.
I agree, I think a lot of these people are narcissists or psychopaths that have huge egos and think they can just talk their way and manipulate their way out of the situation.
I once had a conversation with a person who was a compulsive liar (he wasn't diagnosed so take me using the term with some caution). He said that he lied to people because in his mind it 'proved' that he was superior to them. It didn't have to be big lies, important deceptions, or even anything that the target would know or care about. So if he told his wife that he had a ham sandwich for lunch, when really he had turkey...that made him 'better' than her. His entire self-value was apparently based on this. And by the way, he was a terrible liar. He had this weird tell where he would lie, and then intently watch your face for a reaction, to see if you were buying it.
I'd like to see what career he ended up in. Wondering if it had any involvement with lying to people - lawyer, detective, insurance company etc. Seriously though, it would be interesting to see.

This is the one and only time I've ever seen an interrogator whip out a picture of the person's kids, and right as he started reading the dude his rights even! Whipped that picture out and slapped it on the table. He meant business lmao, this is great!
At 34:14 he tripped him up with, "do you remember which one YOU shot first?" Before that the guy was saying the gun "went off". So the detective had to get him to admit that part
I don't think other departments realize just how valuable letting someone have a smoke before spilling the beans can be. Much like sticking a cigarette in the mouth of a condemned man before standing in front of a firing squad, it makes everything else easier when confronting the truth. They show compromise and humanity which goes a long way when it comes to having respect between people regardless or what happened previously. If all agencies did this, they'd probably see their interrogation times shortened drastically.

No he didn't... she was a bystander in an execution, she said it herself in her confession that she was there. They both were meth heads that deserve to be in prison for what they've done. Bryan also lied on multiple accounts with his confession in this video and if you listen to the end, when in court he changed his story, meaning he probably never told the truth about what really happened. For all we know they both could have been behind this murder and it all could of happened because they were taking meth and staying up multiple nights in a row... sadly sue to my uncle taking ice I know when he stayed up with his girlfriend for three or more nights in a row they became violent and unhinged, which is probably what happened to these two before deciding to execute their neighbors.
They were on drugs bad and literally the guy thought ppl were following him for like weeks at a time so these 2 were probably unhinged for a while. For all we know it might not even been the full truth that he told and just got angry at them for arguing. Well I ummm I don't have the recording on disk yet ... oh right, it's on the tape recorder in my pocket, that I can't pull out and play for you because reasons!

Truly feel bad for this dude. Early on his concern was girlfriend. The struggle created the neighbor dude to shoot/kill GF

If I've learned anything from watching this kind of stuff, even though you haven't done anything, your only words should be: "I want a lawyer."

A reflex
I'd like to see what career he ended up in. Wondering if it had any involvement with lying to people - lawyer, detective, insurance company etc. Seriously though, it would be interesting to see.

She still got 30 years though
His original story makes no sense. Why would he even need to go over there to help her if she came to his door? She was away from her alleged abuser.
And I just don’t get how he’d be helping her by shooting her three times in the head
At the beginning he said that the bloke pulled her back into their apartment and thats why Jodie said he had to go and help her
The whole thing is very confusing. I’m wondering if it was drug related somehow or if maybe Bryan confronted them both about their loud fighting, and ended up in a scuffle with both of them killing them in a meth rage.
His bizarro story works if you think of the MO as drug connections gone wrong.
