The Messengers album was the reason I got into "proper" metal. I love this band so much! And all their albums have a somewhat different vibe and sound while still clearly being ABR. I'd love for this to be next journey after Silent Planet.
@@michi_bella yeah, matt greiner is such an amazing drummer, but when i first listened to invisible enemy, he blew my mind, thats why i recommend him to check that song out
God dude ABR was the freaking best. I would come home after school, plug in my guitar, put on headphones, and just play through the entire ablum day after day. I had another buddy who also played guitar and sometimes we would get together and just play a ton of ABr songs. The way that the rhythm and lead parts weave together is just so fucking satisfying to play. I had chills listening to this just now from all the nostalgia.
There are so many other songs I would've chosen for you to listen to first. This is a great song, but I'd say it's more of a deep cut. I hope you react to some of their newer stuff, or some of the older bangers, would love to hear your thoughts on some other songs :)
You have to listen to songs from Phantom Anthem or Gaurdians, they are my favorite albums from them. They have only gotten better from this song and album.
ABR, and particularly this song, was my real introduction to metalcore back in 2007-2008. Like you, I wasn't quite ready for the heaviness of it back then so I didn't vibe with it as much, but I knew I loved the instrumentals, and the guys in ABR are certainly masters of the technical craft. I'd recommend checking out some of their later works: Ghosts, Martyr, and Vanguard from their Found in Far Away Places album would be fun ones to see here.
I discovered them when Killswitch was in their heyday back in the mid 2000’s. I had a good friend that was making killswitches MySpace/website and he earned ABR’s business as well! We were able to see them in a teeny tiny venue in Atlanta and meet the guys.
Did that a lot of times here in Germany and Switzerland. No comparison to huge venues. Was standing on the stage (because it was no barrier and about 20cm high at that time and SMALL). Hilariously intense live shows back in the day 😊
Their song “defender” is such a fusion of their older & newer styles. You should check out “eternally apart” by Phinehas for some newer high quality metalcore 👌
"Meddler" was the first song I heard from ABR. Was watching music videos on Music Choice on Demand before school started. At the time I was listening to heavier music, but something about this band stood out. Immediately the musicianship was on another level compared to other Metalcore bands at the time. As I Lay Dying and Killswitch were on top at that point, but ABR quickly became my favorite. Matt Greiner is one of the greatest drummers in the modern era!
My oldest son Justice introduced me to this band when he was 15! They quickly grew on me and now their one of my all time faves! Justice is now 30. 🩸🗝😎
People saying check out their new stuff. Sure, but actually check out their previous album Messengers. Insanely good. Composure won best guitar riff of that year if I remember correctly?
August Burns Red has always been a poor man's Killswitch Engage/All That Remains-type band to me. They are solid at what they do, but others do it better.
You should definitely check out some of their more experimental stuff from 2013-2017. Would personally recommend Majoring in the Minors.
I credit this song to be THE song that propelled me into getting into metal music many years ago
Legendary band in metalcore imo
Steve + ABR?! Yes, please. One of my favorite bands that got me into metalcore!

One of my favorite bands ever!! Love everything they've done.
ABR has grown exponentially since this. Check out newer stuff. King of Sorrow, Bloodletter, or Backfire
I think constellations is still their best work but maybe thats just the nostalgia speaking
@@polarnightaudioagreed! Their new stuff is mediocre and all sounds the same.
Hi steve, you should react to Invisible Enemy from August Burns Red, that song is a masterpiece, and the drums on that song are incredible
Basically on EVERY SONG. But that was more straight forward and pushing 🥊

100%. I'm not even an ABR fan, but that one slaps.
@@Deletirium absolutely!

Best band in the world ! 😊
Well in my world
Their old stuff is gold but id recomend check out some more recent stuff to maybe stuff from phantom anthem. Their lead guitar and drums r so good

If you want to get into this band, check out "invisible enemy." It's one of their best songs.
not offended by the crab core comment but it compelled me to mention Bilmuri. New to the channel so im not sure if you've checked em out.
I second.

Actually this one is 15 years old!

Glad to see some ABR. Still waiting for you to check out the new Counterparts!
It’s an old school sound that they can be partially credited for
FINALLY!!!!!🎉 Have been fan from the beginng 🙏🏼
When this came out
game changer
❤

They’ve never been that band I could get into back then or now. They’re solid for me.
Please check out the new Elwood Stray song. It‘s really good.
Ghost is their best song imho. So emotionally driven by social injustice. Lyrics hit like a truck!
Welcome
A lot of good ones to choose from this band.
Interesting!
This is peak era ABR for me. Never could get into anything after this album.
