Great english football from a great football era, I'd pay to go back to then and watch live
brian moore was brilliant.....
Players after the game having a beer while being interviewed, incredible😮
As it should be!
Not a single black player! Those were the days.
Great away kit from United 👍
I remember the trip down to Southampton and getting pitchforked in to the ground it was that tight. We wanted revenge for the loss in 1976. Saints were a good side with players like Ball, Channon, and Osgood. The replay was very tense but Jimmy Greenhoff scored in the opening minutes to take the pressure off. Saints got a penalty in the 2nd half (can't remember who scored it) and it swung end to end before Greenhoff got his second and the winner.
Great footage of the players after the game by the way.
Produced by London Weekend Television. Not Southern Television.
funfact...
one can assume Brian said Liverpool in 'all dark strip' meaning that many would still watch on black and white tv's even tho its shown originally in colour....
yes kids, even in 1977 people still watched in black and white
We had a black and white tv in the early 1980s still.
1976/77 not 1977/78. But I'm loving thes uploads
What a atmosphere from both sets incredible, Southampton fans in particular
That pitch at the Dell. Like a ploughed field :-) What an amazing atmosphere though. Remember watching this on tv. Was 7 yrs old.
I was 10 and wore amazing flares😀
@SparkyStevens55
Didn't you get burnt?
Alfie I played at the Dell in '81 , funny enough it was like velvet .
Oh that saints kit sublime, love the scarves
This is great. A great cup tie. Great fans. Great TV coverage, and a beer. Fantastic!
lfc play st. ettienne....one of the best european games ever at Liverpool
Yeah they had no idea what was coming.
Alan Ball I mean was he ever nothing but class
Channon was a great player. What a touch he had.
Probably would have been another 25 minutes added time nowadays due to VAR.....
...And a total of 4 minutes of action. Minus replays and manager shots on Match of the Day.
Love these old shows 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Takes me back to when times were grim
Here in the south I think we had Southsport soccer who devoted a whole hour to this game.
Only one substitute!
The old dell legendary ground
When football was proper
That boro team was a very underrated team .
Martin Buchan's collar visible from Sputnik
Met David Peach when he visited my school in the New forest.
Noticed the linesman marking the right back as opposed to the left back today
Oldham were playing the referee.
No sports washing then.
Just pure footbal!
Wonderful 🐒🐻🤗👍
Dad,who are Oldham?
Two great teams!
"sound" less
Brian Moore's commentary is really atrocious
Yeah. People used to think he was good at it. Of that era I don't think there was anyone to beat David Coleman.
