Iso Ultimate 1v1s is actually pretty hard to do properly, and people often wonder if it's actually beneficial for Iso or not. So in this video, I'm going to try to break that down and try to help us figure out just how to play iso 1v1s and also how to win against iso if you ever get ulted!

This is interesting because in the most recent (t2) pro play that Iso was picked, the Iso stayed entirely still in every single ult, essentially turning the ult into the Range.
Aim training at the range just for iso ults actually seems effective for tourneys. It’s pure reaction time if you stay still.
Schrödinger's Iso, as a Valorant experiment, states that if you seal an Iso and an enemy player in an Iso ult with one eventually being killed, you won't know if the enemy player is pushing left or right until the walls come down. So, until the walls come down and the enemy player is observed, the enemy player is simultaneously peeking left, and right side.

2:25 blew my mind! the iso can only peek you from the center at the start, and i would add that it's almost certain that they can only peek you from the opposite barrier (e.g if you swing left, they can only really see you if they peek from the right barrier, since they would have to expose themselves to both angles if they peeked from the left barrier)
ISO ult is fun imo. Not only puts you in a 1v1 but no matter if you are one shot or not, you will have a fair 1v1 unless you are having a eco round

i dont see anyone talking about first using double tap and getting a shield and then ulting after. entering your iso ult with a shield on you gives you a tremendous advantage while also boosting your confidence and diminishing the one that the enemy might have. They get scared because you have a shield and panic, making wrong decisions. You dont panic because you are confident with the shield. And after covering everything else said in this video, if your mechanical skill is fine, you have a really great chance of winning the ult duel. Im no radiant of course, but even in low immortal lobbies this has worked in my favor, so i can assume that with ranks below that this only gets better
because its probably the most obvious way of using his ult. I mean why using ulti without that if its not to give space or to give time ???
I think theres a fourth option for the iso, walking backwards enough to leave a tiny gap in his walls and the enemies wall so you see which side theyre crossing, then adjust depending on the situation
This is actually my general option, I pick a side and reduce my swing angle by moving backwards, I don't exactly peek but rather anticipate a flick if my opponent isn't where I expect them. I believe reducing the swing angle and preparing a flick only works at my level of play. But I feel it's a good option! I tie it with my Bulldog setups.
iso's ult is more than a 1v1, I've won so many games with iso just by using the ult to prevent the spike from def and even asking other teammate to camp on enemy's point in possible cases
Even if you die- it still takes one player out of the game. This could be their top fragger with spike. even if you lose- you can wipe their team and get rid of their most essential player
If you use the ult on attack, worst case scenario you trade. Cause the winner will get a knife in the back.

@@RoninFT9yeah agreed. How strong is isos out compared to the other duelists ults in the game ( doesn’t make sense to compare them to non duelist ultimates ). Raze gets a rocket, Jett gets knives, yoru ult has a shit ton of potential in a variety of scenarios. Neons ult is gross… isos ult seems like it could use a very minor buff of some sort.
You remove a defender from site, making it easier for your team to scale up, and even if you die, your team that has taken site can simply trade, by camping body. Same goes fo when somebody taps spike, you can ult, and your teammate camps body. You can ALSO enter the ult with double tap if you got a kill beforehand which is pretty decent. All in all, and okay ult.

Loved seeing this. I’ve been labbing out only ISO moving away from Kayo and I love how we both have the same thought process of seeing what works and what doesn’t.
Starting with holding one side then you get Ferrari peeked, then you move to one side (I always go right 😂) and I found my most success there shift walking so it was nice to see we do the same shit.
I also find sometimes if the enemy is peeking me on right side I’ll hide then swing again as the wall falls, which tends to make them whiff as they expect me to be behind wall. Great video!

This is really funny because as soon as I was ulted for the first time, I immediately realised how strong it is to pick a side and clear in the same direction. I win almost every time I'm Iso ulted, and I lose far more when I'm the one ulting
Raze ult: rocket launcher that instantly kills anyone in its aoe
KJ ult: huge area that detains people, forcing them to run away
Iso ult: Kills you
What would be interesting is to see some statistics on it. For example:
What are win percentages for both parties?
What side to both parties tend to swing? Maybe there is a correlation between dominant hand and swing side.
How many Iso ults against eco weapons are won?
etc etc...
Obviously I don't have the stats, but just anecdotally from watching pro play, it seems like iso loses more often. I don't see many eco ults as iso, only one I remeber the iso was on the eco and he lost but his team traded so I guess it was good?

I think the biggest benefit is still the ability to temporarily remove a player from the map and then to rush onto the uncontested space and camp body. Great rushing tool,great in postplant, great in x v 1 situations but not so so great otherwise.

You can get very quick info on where the iso went by doing a jump peek, remember that you can go through walls so you don’t have to move to the end of the wall, I move to the flaps with my knife out And jump peek through the wall then I hold whatever wall iso went to
Unrelated unpopular opinion, but I think the Iso ult should reward the victor with all their health and shields back.

Something I've been saying since his release and nobody listens to me, that if you get iso ulted and beat him, you should keep the damage you take within the ult, capping it if you're at 1 hp. It's bullshit that they don't keep even a little bit of the damage they take because if I hit them 120 in the ult compared to outside the ult in a normal gunfight, they would just regain it back instead of stay low hp. Your suggestion would just punish Iso even more for using his ult if he lost the 1v1.
When I get iso ulted I just hold 1 side and if they don’t swing then I know they are on the other side. Then when the walls drop I strafe right away and then I deadzone my shot. This has worked really well and I almost always win when I get iso ulted

a thing i do is that i always gamble that the iso goes to the right wall, most people are right-handed and generally gravitate towards going to the right. not sure if i'm making sense here but that's my logic

Nice video! Personally I tend to use ISO ult after getting damaged, buy time for plant or for a team mate to defuse/delay defuse, or pick up a cypher to deactivate his util, winning the 1v1 is just the cherry on top
I just treat being ulted by ISO as a gunfight against someone ranked lower than me. I almost always come out on top, so I always thought that if you have the mentality that you’ll win against the ISO ult and that it’s not that scary, you’ll be at the advantage.

Also, the iso ult can be useful even if you die cause of the long animation. There's a big glowing circle in the ground showing exactly where the victim's position is and so your teammates can get the kill for you cause of the long animation.

I picked up on the wide swinging almost straight away, it also works when it’s your ult
When Iso uses his ult, he will use a rifle, so if Iso knows that a Raze will hold this angle with a Judge or a Sova will hold that angle with an Operator, he can ult them for an advantage. Additionally, he can simply ult during an enemy save round to make sure they don't become a threat by picking up a fallen teammate's gun or by holding a corner some people don't peek.

for those who don't know: there is a bug whit the astra's star's and if your fast enof you can put them in the iso ult and use them as well

Before watching: Yes, you can yeet an opponent out of existence from a site when you execute; when used properly this can guarantee things like 4v2, 3v1, etc. scenarios for your team. Also having an Op as the ulting Iso turns the ult into an Aimlabs drill with medium-large targets.
My gameplan when i iso ult is to poppin swing them and just keep sprinting, it works 100% of the tine 60% of the time

-enemy will enter and out with current health if 88 it will be 88 when enter same when out of iso ultimate if 60 will out with 60 BUT iso will get full health when enter and out
-wall docent drop

-enter with double tap shield event if you didn't have one

my usual play on either side of the ult is to purposely make noise one way but go back the other.

I specifically often use it to take a stalling agent away for the pish lots of the time
The only real reasons I would use ult is 1 of 3 things
1: fighting people with active weapon ults or controled ults like raze jett chamber neon (to an extent deadlock), and Gekko Sova
2: to ult an area of site your teammates are not using util on to at least gurantee a trade
3: to take a fight or stall a retaker (would only take a fight for the reason of fighting if you have a cypher with ult about to use it)
I think if you're a good/quick aimer it's definitely a lot better, and if you're having a good game it's great. I don't really just throw it off the rip ever though. I'll use it for pulling jett when she dashes into site, or raze sometimes, which works great to help stuff the execute. I'll try to pull planters off site. I also think it's great for pulling people out of great positions, especially during retakes and executes. A lot of positions their teammates are playing will suck when they are pulled into ult, and now literally all of site, or U haul, or INSERT POSITION HERE is now free for my team to take and then isolate other players during the ult. Strangely enough, for how Iso seems like a pub stomper, and he IS/can be, I feel like his util and ult gets more use from a team perspective whether that's premier or VCT. If you have a smart Iso player who is able to use his util adaptively and quickly in the right situations, your TEAM can take massive advantage of the space he can great. AND if he is a good fragger at the same time, he can continue to get kills which fuels his shield for more kills, and especially fuels him getting more ult. Which becomes a cycle. Also sometimes I'll ult when I'm low hp to get a fair fight on someone in a round (full HP during arena fight), and also I'll use it during a clutch occasionally where I know where someone is likely to be, but I'm too far away for the enemy team to guarantee a kill hunting me down which hasn't bit me in the ass yet so (just gotta kill the guy in ult quickly).
But I think if you use ult like a noob and just try to kill people whenever you feel like it that's just a throw. Maybe you get the kill, maybe you don't. Team could still lose round and you didn't get full impact from ult.
iso's ult will pull enemies out from the battle, like if a raze was going to terrorize site using her ult iso can cancel that entirely
I’ve deadass lost a singular iso 1v1, and every time I just stand close to the middle of the wall and start strafing right as it drops.
im surprised that u didnt include going in to the ult with the shield up is also an option. go for a kill using double tap then find someone to use the ult with then boom, there u go u have an advantage that u want. u have to know how capable iso 3rd skill is, not only the ult.

Ever since I watched this I don't ever die to iso in ult LOL
Would be nice if you can still use all 3 abilities in ult, but it's now affecting what the 3 wall does. For example : you can C the left wall to move forward to push with. Q the enemy wall to vulnerable the enemy if they decide to move forward. E instead of a shield now holds the wall longer. The point is the Iso using the ultimate can add multiple factor of randomness that will negatively impact the enemy instead of being an Ult that adds advantage for the enemy.
I had couple of games where iso use his ulti to waste someone else time, especially letting ur team mate to defuse lol
1 thing to note is that some players that are ulted by ISO may feel MORE confident since its a very fair fight which is why i think ISO ult isnt that good
To fix ISO:
1) He never dies in his ult. But if lose he returns with a very low life; OR
2) His ult replenishes his life. But the enemy loses 20 points OR
3) His two walls never disapear.

What if when enemy iso gets a kill with double tap and your team can shoot the little disk so enemy iso doesn’t get the shield.
Here’s a probability tip: human brains aren’t very random, and will usually pick the side which favors their handed-ness, aka right-handed. You can actually see this in the video, where both players seem to go for their right nearly every time.
I once saw a player use a ISO ult when someone is difussing a spike, wasting time in the ult so the spike goes off is funny af

I haven't played valorant in a long time, frankly dont intend to as it's just not my game, and dont need to learn these kinds of things
however it's oddly interesting to see how a ability meant to give you advantage, actually puts you at a disadvantage as long as the other player plays normally cause of peekers advantage, only once you do some tech I didn't even know about despite hearing/knowing about tech pretty quickly, then you have an advantage

But also relatable... I am always te victim of Iso's ult...
The main purpose of a selfish iso ult is to have a refresh for one more gunfight: your hp is refilled upon ulting, and if you have double tap up and active, you keep that into the gunfight
stacking these advantages can help you steal a gun from the other team from an incredible range, and given the context of an iso ult, you can easily tear an op out of the hands of the enemy team doing this, this is where iso shines
though in reality, the biggest advantage an iso ult can have is if you throw it in unknown territory, if you toss it and get NOBODY, you have just cleared an incredible amount of space, without any risk, the risk only comes when a person is found lurking, in which you could then refer to this video then to help
this contrasts to a typical ult, such as;
breaches ult whom gives a good advantage upon use, but requires you to physically get in there and fight.
or maybe skyes ult, which is not instantaneous and somewhat approximate (though albeit better than an iso ult in the given situation, respectfully)
cyphers ult is goated for this scenario. with the only "problem" being you need a corpse. im not speaking on it
phoenixes ult is pretty good for this scenario, unless you immediately get shot upon ulting, which risks your life directly (but in your best case scenario, is better than all the options above)
brim clears a circle area, which as weak as this sounds can be free kills given the scenario, people dont realize this but you want to lop-side that ult so they are forced to run at you with their knife, so you can clean up, and is a promised clear of any part of map
I forget if there are any more relevant area-clearing ults to compare, but in general iso is a duelist with an incredible space clearing ult, on attacker side its amazing for rotating to a fresh site, and for defending its incredible for cutting lurks out

Have you tried going back because I think there is some legroom for going back from where he spawn, it may also shorten the space for them to peek and hit iso, well it's just hypothesis from the low elo player who stopped playing.
Most of the times I’ve died isn’t actually from the Iso killing me. It’s from me killing the Iso and coming back to someone shooting me since I got caught with the ult in the open.
The fact that this is even a debate shows how riot absolutely messed up his ult. An ultimate that maybe gives you an advantage is a terrible ult

I came back to the game last week after a year, i’m only plat rn but got picked in iso ult ~15 times and never died a single time even when I discovered the ult for the first time. Might be the worst ult in the game tbh.
I remember thinking of 2 possible buffs
2 walls 2 isos 1 fake
Iso gets to choose which wall he'll hide in and the rest will have a clone that would blind the same as yoru if you shoot the wrong one
The other possible buff is iso wouldnt die if he loses the duel but instead it would take half of his hp instead (as if he was tactically retreating)
Use it when you are low health or to stop a enemy fromdefusing when theres on left

It actually gives you both full hp and 50 shields for the duel. After the duel, the winner is reset to the amount of hp and shields they had before the ult.

I can imagine an Iso considering all the outcomes everytime he ults, meanwhile the enemy is just going "Time to blindly fire"
I just treat ISO ults like I'm at the range. I straight up just hold D right at the start, swinging wide as far as I can, counter strafe and one-tap. So many times I'll see the Iso stuck in the centre debating which side to be on and I can tap them right there, or they'll be so bewildered by me straight up swinging so wide that they whiff all their shots once the shields come down so I can again tap them right there. I feel like I rarely lose being ISO ulted, the problem comes when your team doesn't cover you and you get shot by someone flanking or otherwise. Which is where the ISO ult mostly is strongest, it can very easily secure you a trade-off. And if you're 1v2 against an ISO and their teammate? Well, if they have ULT, the rounds over. Unless that team mate really whiffs their shots or doesn't make use of the time to close distance as you come out of the ult, which is rare.
When using iso ult you need to be aware of what the enemy is doing, its best to use for stalling for if the enemy is planting or if they have a sniper, and using it start of round is really bad, dont think of the iso ult as only to 1v1 an enemy, proper way to use of iso ult is if you're low on hp and in 2v1 situations, its to give yourselft a higher chance of winning, especially with his focus.

They should make the enemy inside Iso ult vulnerable, so there's advantage for Iso in gun fight
Iso really needs an ultimate buff
Try using it Post Plant, in 2v1s to secure the kill 100% with your teammate (tell him to find his spawn), and to initiate executes by removing defenders in scary angles.
His ult is broken, just dont see it as a 1v1. See it as an ability where you will die regardless and still get value out of it. Wins are a bonus.
they should give the iso who activates the ult have like 250hp while enemy has 150

Shoulda started with this. The ult isn't meant to give iso an advantage. It's literally to stall for time. The winner gets knifed in the back, so worse case scenario you trade, and your team has a 1v4 to take site. Some sentinels solo hold sites so you can almost get a site for free.
