Enjoyed the video. I bought the same akaso v50 pro a while back when it was a little cheaper. Wind suppression turned on, and a piece of paint brush foam over the mic holes on the mount knocked out so much wind and back ground noise.
Caution on the ports, particularly HDMI! Don't know about GoPro but I don't think the Akasos ports hold up to use. (Not talking about connecting and disconnecting cables)...... The one I'm using at work (different model) is now acting up. Seems like something is burning out/failing intermittently. And this has happened far sooner than I had expected. When it gets "flakey" it shuts the whole camera down without warning. To recover I have to pull the battery and restart everything. Prior to this happening, it worked flawlessly.
I have about 25 diff budget action cameras why i just love action cameras, but none of them match up to the big boys on the block Gopro or da Osmo but a lot of them not too shabby. i love watching camera comparisons i find them very interesting.
I find the Akaso you can improve the sound in the settings on the camera and it works pretty good.I use my V50 Pro as a second camera on my motorcycle to get other angels good little camera
I'm just learning to use the Akaso V50 Pro. A recurring problem is the inability to stop recording by pressing the record button. I have to turn the camera off completely to do so. Have you encountered this? What video editing software do you use? Thanks.
Russ, I have not had the sound issue you are having. The sound I get is better than my Lumix FZ80. I use mine for FPV on my RC Rock crawler with the iPhone app mounted to my transmitter. Didn't want to purchase a $350 action cam for this purpose. Works great. A lot of camera for $100. I paid $120 for mine a few years ago. Nice comparison. I may have to pick up a nicer camera one of these days. GoPro 8 Black, GoPro 7 Black or DJI Osmo Action?
I have got a crosstour 4K action cam which is alright but it has no image stabilisation but it was onl £34 with acsesarys but i don’t have to worry if it goes in to machinery
They have the v50x which has a great EIS, they should join those two together to have a great footage with a great EIS. I wonder how their new Brave 7 that's suppose to come out soon, will be.

So, just last week I purchased the Hero 8 Black and I absolutely love it. I mam curious to hear your opinion on the Hero 8 Black, hopefully you will do that video soon.
I bought the DJI Osmo Action camera after using a wannabe action camera called ApeMan. The ApeMan camera wasn't bad and came with a case, plus a ton of accessories for different style mounts, more accessories than the Osmo in fact. The ApeMan was about $60, compared to $300 for the Osmo.
$99 vs $299 would anybody really expect it to compete? For such a difference I think it does pretty good. Russ don't change your style it's why we are here.
Great looking cat. Regarding Gopro being too saturated and akaso being flat and easier to grade just set gopro to flat setting and then both are flat and easier to grade? I notice in "footage" for both the ground has blur/artifacts and occasionally becomes clear /visible and has texture. I notice in Gopro 7 & 8 when moving through woods with trees with leaves or whenever there is lots of texture the video suffers and texture area appears blurry, then clear for a second, then blurry/artifact again. Maybe do video analysis of that issue and see what settings if any result in dirt on ground looking like dirt rather than having blur/artifacts?
There is no substitute for quality. You can buy a GoPro hero 5 black on Amazon for $130. if price matters that much to you. GoPro has no competition and is an American company.
Hey Russ, good, honest comparison. If viewers think YOU talk too much, send them over to Rick's channel! I think you do just fine. It's what gives your channel a friendly feel. Hi sir thanks for your video. I like the shot of the cat. I noticed kitty had a lead on a collar. That is a no no as cats neck bones are weaker than a dogs and thus should have a lead attached to a harness. Welove our fur babies and I do walk both of my cats. Cheers
No comparison. Budget camera looked fair at best. The purplish lens flare (even when the sun is behind you) in almost every shot really bothered me. Sorry Russ but this one did not dethrone the gopro.
I feel bad when I see videos like this. Giving false comparisons, like GoPro being over saturated when you can turn the color profile to flat. It's obvious this video is just made to try and get affiliate sales from Amazon from people that don't want to spend on a GP8, actually for $130. you can get an actual GoPro hero 5 black on Amazon. Even a GoPro 3 would be better than the camera you are showing here. To many youtubers sell themselves out for $, you can see the big shift in this video. especially when saying if people hit thumbs up for this video you will do a review on the 8 and trying to add obvious teasers like why you like the 7 better. I have both camera's there is nothing better on the 7 than the 8.

I won't deny that affiliate sales are the only way this channel survives, but I will refute the statement that my analysis is influenced by that. I want to give every product a chance, and there are many people that can't afford a GoPro. Also, the team that designed the Hero 8 should be fired. That fricken battery door comes off everytime I open it, and you need to have cocaine-long fingernails to get the damn as card out! Who the hell thought that was a good idea? Yes, Hypersmooth Boost is amazing, but when you add it all up, I think the 7 is a better camera. Also don't ever apologize for your opinions, but I do appreciate the civility.
@@51Drones Wow.. Very nice reply. I agree getting the card out is a pain compared to before. but as a camera I have no issues. I did at first with using a gopro mic adapter, but for $20. I was able to pick up a (Chinese... damnitt) door with a open slot for the adapter.
They both look like shit, the audio is night and day with the GoPro but as soon as you speed up the stabilisation can't refresh fast enough on either camera, I was expecting the GoPro to smash the akaso but it just wasn't the case here
Do not buy Akaso action cameras. They are rubbish. You can't use it for long. They break down easily. My friend and I bought Akaso action cam from Aliexpress. Mine broken down within a month and my friend's broke down in a few months as well.
Russ, Please don't be one of those guys that cross over to the black side of FPV. Maybe a different channel. I have stopped watching many of those that have abandoned the true done videos. It is really apples and oranges.
I will never abandon anything, but it never hurts to try new things, experience new things and add new viewers. Channels should progress to stay relevant. I would never switch from my roots. 😁

Great video as usual. Have tried turning the internal mic volume down on the akaso , I've done this with the akaso and it works pretty well .
