After James Shepherd sustained a spinal cord injury in 1973, the Shepherd family identified a need for a stand-alone rehabilitation facility in the Atlanta area. This grew into Shepherd Center, a hospital that specializes in spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, spine and chronic pain, and other neuromuscular disorders. Today, Shepherd Center stands out for its culture of hard work, humor and hope.
