Very rarely do I care for singing with Ave Maria as I find most singers hitting ear shattering high pitches that stand out and in my own personal opinion ruin the serene beauty of this piece. Not so though with Shikata Akiko, her voice blends in and compliments this piece so well without trying to put emphasis on the lyrical addition to this classical piece. This is one of the few versions with singing that I'll not only listen to, but greatly enjoy. She's such a wonderful singer.
We played 'Ave Maria' at my Mum's funeral in 2010 ( Sleep gently Mum ) and now my heartaches and I tear-up every time I hear it. A song fit to praise the Holy Mother indeed. Mere words can never do justice to the feelings it brings, but I think every Mothers child can understand that feeling. Just wish I had heard Akiko Shikata's version first though. It is truly sublime, beautiful and painful. I simply bow my head in respect.
I didn't expect to hear that song from her... It's a beautiful song, but mostly associated with funerals... This reminds me of my grandmother, who banned certain flowers in her house because they were typically planted at or put onto graves... It's a bit like white flowers in Japan, or perhaps their red spider lilies, just different flowers for my grandmother...
akiko shikata plsss have a new album more like the album from harmonia or RAKA plssss have more album plssssss i only have 323 songs of you and that is still not enough
It's a pity that her public performances are so rare. Her voice is very faint − moreso than in the album version −, almost whispery, but this is kind of fitting here. Like someone said, she totally blends in the melody. I also find that violonist kind of awesome for some reason.
+Lyendith it's said that Akiko shikata is really shy and that's it's why she don't like doing "public aparence", and for the violonist it's " taro hakase" a pretty well know violonist ( some people said " virtuoso") and one of the best violonist in japan!
@224909666 She had two Japan-exclusive concerts: Harmonia and Pantalea. Sadly, only pictures were taken and no videos because of Japan's strictness in copyright stuff.
blara2401 Oh yeah it's right maybe i make the error because of the one " universe of japanimation serie" im the most good with ( maybe "fondle of" is the best way to say it? I'm not from any country where we speak English... but anyway i was speaking of " tenchi muyo ( universe so dual and isekai are in too) so tenshi/tenchi i must have mayde my error because of that... or maybe because i'm not really good at japanese lol). Anyway thank for the correction.
First i was Who is she?? then i wanna listen to her song then i wanna memorize her song then i wanna watch her perform then I WANNA SEE HER LIVE, NOW!!!!!!!!!!

Just from looking at the violinists facial expression and you can tell how much emotion he's putting into playing. Way too amazing!
