You can tell even from the video (when viewed in 4k) that the print is very good. Also, beautiful picture!

Very informative review. Some time ago, I got a lot of complaints about buying the capable Epson R2880 because it is "so big." When I showed this video (and the price tag) the reaction was "it could have been worse." But if you are a professional photographer like Moose and you see the prints you end up being impressed by the technology.

When clicking auto resolution in Photoshop, it sets the dpi to 266. Apparently, this resolution fits Epson's screen (I believe this is the case). Do you know anything about printing at 266 with Epson printers. Do you print at 266 or 300?
By the way, great looking image. Good stuff.

Thanks for watching! I highly recommend heading to my website and downloading my 14pg free printing PDF. I've not used the Auto Resolution in PS so don't know what it's doing to answer that part of the question. I don't set it to 300 either. That 14pg document I wrote explains how and what I do better than I can here :-)

Are you relying on a 3rd party RIP for managing these jobs and calibration, or are you using the included software? Are you creating custom calibrations using a spectrometer, or just running ICC profiles that correspond with the print material?

    • @MoosePeterson
      @MoosePeterson  4 ปีที่แล้ว

nope, all Epson ... head to my website, Moose's Print Lab and download the free 40pg PDF that covers all I do printing :-)

If you need to print a mix of smaller sizes like a few 5x7s and some 8x10s is there an easy way to lay them out on big roll paper so you minimize waste?

    • @MoosePeterson

I do that kind of printing on the P900

Hey there Moose! I'm looking into buying this model for the law firm I work for the use of printing exhibits for trial. We currently have a 7800 Pro and it's getting a little old. How is the printing speed compared to the 7800 Pro? Our 7800 Pro is about 10 years old.
    Thanks!

I got the Epson 2900 "The Most Intelligent Printer Made" HOG WASH, it has the HDX INKS 11 Carts!!!!! 110 ml is the biggest Cart you can get which is good because at 700 ml I couldn't afford $2200 for ink. But Proof is in the Print. and my Aged but Babies and cleaned every use and intense on Sat.. This 7880 blows the HDR 4900 out of the water!!!!!!!!! the 4900 is so finicky about the thickness of the paper that it has no less than four different sheet fed ports, all of which are hard as hell to get accustomed to. Epson knew they had a dog on their hands when they released iy. Hence they would not be discontinuing the 4900 well thats ok cause I sold mine likely split. but her all companies let out a fart now and then, except Really Right Stuff and a few other corps that put the quality first before the stock holders. I have never let anything, that was not the very best Could do and that I would not hang on ,y wall. I do an eclectic array of exploring in light, , :The PUSH and PULL of light and dark. adding color to that makes color harmony some thing that trips a bunch of us up. Did you read: "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards? well I hope you did both editions because that one book and the ability that MS Edwards has to explain things in a way that I can under stand, which is pretty amazing. After all the dope I took in the 60's and 70's , Hell any thing is a miracle for me.
My point in this: Betty Edwards has put out a book entitled "COLOR" which works you hard doing color swatches surrounded by different types of colors and she talks you through about five color wheels that YOU MUST DO or else you are just throwing your money away. yeah I hear you cats saying Why would I just let it sit there? Tell it to someone who cares just like you I have books that I bought while in the pink cloud of seeing my traditional artisticguerrilla@gmail.com start to actually look like someone who actually knew what they were doing did it. I was riding that cloud , and today I can say that I surf that cloud or very similar cloud, today by exploring every thing that grabs my goat. The critics rag me for not settling on one style or medium and I could become an artist whom will be remembered. I don't answer them but they have been told on several occasions that I paint, Photograph, Fly, Fish and Hang with my cats and Goats FOR WHAT I, i said " I " get out of it, for what MY activities do for my Spirit. I am starting to preach so I'll get off the soapbox to let the next gut hop up. Epson, Id rather have a printer that was durable, and lasted me a decade as my venerable 7880 has. I buy my printers from my dealer which is a mistake not to as they become your friends and they are on your side.. Get acquainted with your dealer .Read the Three Books I've mentioned and you might find that I'm full of bull but at least you will know Color theory (Not like a MFA ) but you will have the basics in you so that you understand what is the most baffling portion of light. If the world would standardize the manner in which they refer to colors that would be a giant start and is a real sore spot with MS. Edwards.

Hello Moose Peterson, I'm interested in getting into the Sticker Business. Can this printer print on Vinyl sticker paper? If it can, can it completely contour cut individual stickers all the way through the paper backing? Any help you can help you can give on this would be greatly appreciated.

Would this be the kind of machine people are using, when they say they are printing "giclee" prints?

      I don't believe so

    • @cowboystuff2002

There are photographers that advertise giclee prints, and when I researched "giclee", it was described as an ink jet process, and I'm just wondering how they are doing it. How old is the giclee process and what did they used to use before inkjet printers.
