Without any doubt, Rafi Saab was a great human being and the greatest singer. But, the way Shankar ji praises Rafi Saab, it shows his (Shankar Ji 's) greatness too, which he was. Both of them are legend of HFM. ❤
Shanker ji (SJ) always used to respect the singers/lyricists and all others assoiciated with their films. It was unfortunate that some vested interests used to malign Shanker ji to push their agenda.

SJ worked with the highest number of singers. Besides their regular well established singers, they gave opportunities to several other talented singers.

Interesting how Shankar states that this song was recorded in 1947. Aag had been released in 1948 and Im assuming Barsaat started after that. Shankar probably meant 1948
I don't see any possibility of improving relations with Pakistan unless Pakistan respects minorities living in that country. Persecution and pillaging done by Pakistani Muslims on Hindus must be compensated adequately. Improved relations with Pakistan looks highly unlikely.
