After seeing this video and live performance, I can just say one thing, there is no one like Rafi saheb. Such as divine voice. I am saying this even though Mukesh ji is my favorite singer and I love his songs. Great to see him and Rafi saheb performing live. Its great to see so many legends of Indian cinema in one video. It was a prank played by Raj ji to amuse the people. I have seen the full film ( 16 MM projector) years ago. The final shot shows Raj ji bringing Manna da out from backstage .

Very happy to listen the songs. Though the singers Rafi and Mukesh are now not among us yet their songs live forever. What else even about Rajkapoor and Jai Kishan.
I think this is one of the best stage performance in the history of Indian Cinema. Most of the Actors passed away. unbelievable memories.

Kishore da was missing, but not Manna da . It was Manna da who sang " Aye bhai Zara dekh ke chalo from behind the curtain. Raj kapoor ji was playing prank. I have seen the entire show in 16 mm projector decades ago at my friend's house. His father was in the Navy. As the song concludes, Raj ji asks Manna da to come out from behind the curtain. That's it. As far as Kishore da not being there, the reason was Kishore da became popular with Aradhana songs in 1970 & this event took place months before Aradhana songs became a rage. Jaikishan ji composed " zindagi ek safar " towards the end of 1970, and the song became extremely popular. But the very next year, Jaikishan ji passed away due to cirrhosis of the liver at the young age of 42. Shankar ji continued in the name of Shankar Jaikishan and scored music for a couple of films. His composition, " Geet gata hun main " in the film " Laal pathar " in 1973, took Kishore da to greater heights. Just for your info pl.

I listened to the music of Jaikishan in the Rang Upavan auditorium in Surat. He was playing harmonium and singing also. It was a privilege to see this great musician just 10 feet away from me. I was the most senior Police Officer present in the audience , sitting in the front row. I regret that I did not step on the platform and shake hands with him. I shall always repent this .

No, sorry , Raj kapoor ji was not singing in his own voice. He was just playing prank. I have seen the complete event in 16 mm projector at my friend's house decades ago. My friend's father was in the Navy.
