Julie, I'm sure Luke's parents have loved you since they first met you but goodness they must be so proud of all that you have achieved in the last couple of years!! The restoration projects are outstanding. Hello from SC, USA.
I am thrilled to learn that there are still craftsman that can restore the beautiful eagles. Thank you to those that were able to support this project. Enjoy watching from the USA.🦅🦅🇺🇸
I agree that the wall color looks like a celery green as it is in the center of the stalk. My mother’s living room was a lighter shade of this color and was very easy to live with. It looked good in every season of the year. Great choice!❤
All I can say is wow!! The work you and your team have put in transformed the library! All its lovely detail is now highlighted. The beautiful luncheon you threw for the volunteers was so touching to see. All a labor of love for this fine home and all its inhabitants past and present.
👏👏👏 You and Luke are such a joy to watch. Thank you both for sharing your incredible journey with us! Love, love, love the library! Absolutely gorgeous!
Good luck with trying to modernise it. You’d have English heritage all over you. Thank goodness. The older a property gets the more you appreciate them.
I think the colors would be better if the greenish gold were a more warmer yellow gold and the white was more creamy not so stark white. I love the deep red, it's perfect. However, nice job overall. You're working so hard and making great improvements. I love watching your channel. We love you both. Keep up the spectacular work.
Loved Raymond’s cameo appearance. He’s a gem. Luke: that haircut really suits you. Julie: excellent PM skills. Glad to see all the progress. I’m wondering after the eagles and library, what will you all tackle next-tapestries? Orangery? I can’t wait to find out!
Peeps can we all do 'quote of the vid from now on? Raymond: 'you did it for America,' and 'it's brought it up a bit 'asn't it.' Lovely British understatement 😁😁✌✌
Wow exactly as I thought it would look, the library is gorgeous, everything about it and will do your exhibition justice. Lots of hard work that has paid off. So glad the eagles are getting nearer to ‘landing’ back at Mapperton and what a masterpiece of art they have restored and repaired, can’t wait to see them back where they belong.
Ochre is a very deep brownish-gold color. That's much lighter and more lemony-ish - without being a true light-lemon - than ochre. Hard to tell on YT and with extant lighting, but it does look much happier than before. Yellow - third chakra - color of the sun, the emotions, happiness. A very positive color. I think you'll be very happy with that room.
What would Luke’s family do without you, our dear Julie? Your energy is SO contagious! You have to know that you’ve inspired so many of us to spiff up our own homes. Big hug from your Chicago girl!❤
So positive to see these historic pieces of Mapperton coming back together as they were in better days. You are all working hard to restore, and determine what to display in days to come. I would love to lend my skills with embroideries and tapestry repairs, period cooking of feasts as they were. I have numerous other skills, including still rooms and medicine gardens. I take great joy in watching where I am unable to help the restoration. My Arts and Crafts house is needing serious tasks tackled with preservation skills, mostly by me, and a famous library cleaning and restoration with preservation added to the process. Muck original woodwork to renew and refinish, and artefacts to be restored to their places in natural ways. The gardens begin this Spring.🖤🇨🇦
I love the final choice of the yellow as it gives the walls definition & defines the space more, also it does brighten it up more, brings in the sunshine. Very nice, however on the downside the room does look smaller than it did but much cosier & when you have the fire going it will be a delightful room to sit in on a chilly day with a hot chocolate, a good book & a loving companion . Seeing that blacking really took me back to my childhood in the 1950s as we had a wood stove & my mother used to blacken it on a regular basis. Just like she used to use the blue agent in the washing to bring out the white in the clothes. Big cakes of sunlight soap & we washed up with sunlight soap in the metal shaker. The iceman used to call to leave ice on our cooler. The milkman left milk in our billycan hanging on the front fence & the dunny man called weekly before dawn. Those were the days of my childhood just after the war finished in western Sydney, NSW, Australia & to top it all off our new Queen came to visit & we all stood on the two platforms of the railway station & waved to her on the back of the steam train. These days that suburb is now part of the Greater Sydney metropolitan area & I live twice as far from Sydney than I did back then but with the modern trains it doesn't take me any longer to get to Sydney as we only stop 3 times, whereas they have to stop upto a dozen times.
The timelapse sections are really great! The upcoming event will be made even more special because of all the hard work you have put into preparing for the exhibition. I'm just floored as to all that has been done by way of research, discoveries, refurbishments etc... Julie, you are amazing! Your husband is also amazing! overseeing the eagle project, the luncheon for the volunteers. Wow!
I did prefer the colors you picked Julie, and yes I know very few share my opinion. It looks fresh and the floors are gorgeous. See everyone, we can find nice words even when it isn’t our personal preference.
I'm Irish, so you'll know of the difficulties we have had in the past with England.LOL . But I do love history and came across your channel a while back. I THINK I am now totally addicted to your videos, everything you do is with such passion and enthusiasm and its infectious.. watching your visit and explore other estates is also so informative and fun . You have such a talent for engaging with people, and when you're brought to tears over something it's hard not to be upset for you.. both you and your lovely husband are such hard workers and I wish you every success because you both deserve it so much. Truly inspiring .. You definitely have an old soul..
I’ve missed so much! The room’s color matches my living room. Excellent color choice!😊 The eagles are going up! I thought they were gone forever! What a wonderful day!❤
Julie l applaud you and everyone else involved in decorating the library, it looks beautiful, love the warm tones in the paint, great choice of colours throughout, well done, tfs x Julie
I am ever so grateful for the terrific new choice of colours. I completely disagreed with Julie'sfirst choice but could not find the words, nor the courage to say so. Now I am thrilled with the decisions and the results are terrific. The warm yellow-ochre is perfect. I love it. What a beautiful and inviting enhanced library you now have for another century at least. Congratulations.
Julie and Luke it all seems to be coming together beautifully. Your dedication to preserving this wonderful place is amazing. Can't wait for the return of the Eagles.
I absolutely love this color scheme!!! So lovely! Great job!!!! I love to paint, also Julie!!!! I agree with you that it is very therapeutic!!!! You can see your beautiful accomplishment when finished! It's so satisfying!!! Great job on fireplace also!!! I'm so happy to hear that your eagles are coming home soon!!!! They look splendid! 🎉❤ So much to do, always! The music selection has been lovely! All of you definitely inspire me!!!!
The library is stunning and the work you have done on The American Heiress is amazing. I believe Alberta would be delighted at the showing of some of her beautiful gowns, letters, portraits and photographs. ❤
It would be nice to visit all the places in her life as well. I have been to places on my ancestors life journeys since coming to the US centuries ago. I would love to film them all so my grandchildren will see them as well. Maybe I still might. You inspire me to get on with it 📽📄📺😁
We visited for the first time on Tuesday and had a wonderful day. I’ve watched quite a few videos and hadn’t seen the coach house restaurant and shop in any of them. It is a lovely space and I thought it should feature more and here it is! The library looks AMAZING. Advice to viewers: if you’ve not been to Mapperton, go! It’s even better in real life than the videos.
Is it possible to have the pillars disassembled (carefully) , clean it all up and have it re-laid? Then you could put better structural support, re-wire, put all the toppings back on and they are better than ever. It might take a separate fundraiser, but it would last for several more centuries. Just thinkin'
I just love your place it's quaint and historic and you have your work cut out for you and lots of restoration and I love the birds how do your inlaws take to you since you're an American who's married to an English person and I bet you had to get used to living in England and missing American food. I'm American from NC and I've always wanted to see England never been outta the states (except for Canada 🇨🇦 where I've been)
Love this channel, subscription? So full of life and of things to come. Have missed some posts. How are the ponies and 🐑 and beavers doing? Your colors look fabulous! ❤ You and your husband do outstanding work at the manor. Thank you for sharing your life with us. P.S. Going outside now to watch the total eclipse. ❤❤
Was fascinated by the adhering to the plinth with, was it molten lead? The room and the eagles are looking amazing, but I have always wondered what was gong to happen with those dangling gates, a future restoration is a great idea.
Oh how I love that color and perfect timing for me because I wanted to paint a room and I wanted a color close to the color of butter and you gave me the color for the vision I've wanted for my room very lovely thank you.
The library looks lovely! Julie, when someone says, "150 ml off the floor" does a part of you panic as to what that means, or have you now lived in England long enough that you don't give it a second thought?
I looked up the place of Alberta’ childhood home on MAPS & it looks a nice location. This Exhibition looks to be Grand, I know your hard work and all the planning will teach people about her.
All the updates look fantastic! I also wonder if the house itself could be pressure washed, would be lovely to see the stonework original colors and how it might have looked when it was first built. ❤❤
Thank heavens, they are still craftsman that can do this kind of work!
Who wouldn't want to see the entire project?!! I do! ❤
I’m so happy to hear that someone else sees painting a room as therapeutic and enjoyable. I get teased about my love for painting.
Julie, I'm sure Luke's parents have loved you since they first met you but goodness they must be so proud of all that you have achieved in the last couple of years!! The restoration projects are outstanding. Hello from SC, USA.
Another fellow South Carolinian. Good to see you. I'm from Charleston.
@@Kathy-up9si , I'm a native of Myrtle Beach! Hello!
Gotta love a viscount that carries his end of the sofa.

How wonderful the eagles look at the workshop.
Julie, love how committed you are to refreshing Mapperton Manor, always willing to do the work needed.
All so lovely. I wish the bookcase were painted white throughout, without the red interior completing with the new lighter, refreshed look.
The library with the lit fire will be a dream! We absolutely amazed by your dedication and really hard work! Hugs from the Netherlands!
Teamwork makes the dream work! Raymond and all the people who made this happen are gems.
👏👏👏 You and Luke are such a joy to watch. Thank you both for sharing your incredible journey with us! Love, love, love the library! Absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you so much!!
It is so wonderful that you appreciate the beauty of the past and are not trying to modernize it.
Good luck with trying to modernise it. You’d have English heritage all over you. Thank goodness. The older a property gets the more you appreciate them.

Julie you are such a lovely person and so very kind. Don’t change a thing about you 😊 I love your enthusiasm.
The eagles are majestic and the library is spectacular! Well done all!
Beautifully done! I believe Alberta approves!
Julie, you are a powerhouse. Love the colour. Luke seems to love all the activities around the house.
Peeps can we all do 'quote of the vid from now on?
Raymond: 'you did it for America,' and 'it's brought it up a bit 'asn't it.' Lovely British understatement 😁😁✌✌
The library looks stunning! I love those colors and the bookcases being red inside and white on the trim is such a nice touch.
Julie,I,m totally addicted to your videos. If I was still living in England you would be getting a visit from me. Well done Julie ❤
Wow, thank you!

The library turned out beautifully. I Love🥰 the color of the new chairs. They look comfortable.
Wonderful transformation of the library. That yellow and rich dark red really enhances the books and is very inviting!
Just beautiful Julie! Alberta would be so proud.

“Where they were to!” That was the most local expression ever, loving Dan’s accent from my part of the world
I love watching you restore your beautiful home.

The red interiors of the bookcases are just stunning. It looks like it’s been bound in Morocco leather. 😍

Oh Julie ! The library is just lovely .Well done ! The eagles are beautiful . Also , love the background music during this video ..
I love the library colour.
It will bring a welcome warmth to the room in winter, and coolness in the hotter months too.
There’s a terrible green cast on the walls but I can see the accurate color in small areas. The room looks great.
The timelapse sections are really great! The upcoming event will be made even more special because of all the hard work you have put into preparing for the exhibition. The library looks wonderful - as do the eagles!!! Fabulous job, Julie and Luke!!! I hope to “buy a coffee” to see the tour of the exhibit!!
I thought from the sample the paint was going to be more gold/yellow, but instead it has a lot of green. Very lovely choice!
I did prefer the colors you picked Julie, and yes I know very few share my opinion. It looks fresh and the floors are gorgeous. See everyone, we can find nice words even when it isn’t our personal preference.
I liked Julie's colors too but the yellow turned out to be lovely.
The yellow looks more like a celery color, very bright and cheery ❤

I’m not crazy about the library colors but it is nice and fresh. And I’m glad you’re moving the chairs.
The color is a great match to the tones of the stone of the fireplace! ❤

I love the “new” old shape of the roof.
Love love love the history you are sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I'm all for the restauration if the outside of the Manor❤
Beautiful! It looks so warm and inviting. You guys are doing a fantastic job.

I would clean all the moss and alge off the stones and have them petina with the new stone....
I had the same thought!
Remarkable job in the library and the eagles are very aristocratic. I love what you are doing.❤
Good ole American know how . Way to go Julie and family

Thank you! 😊
The Dell CEO’s home on Lake Road in Lake Forest had ties to the Sturgis family.
It’s beautiful, good work!
I am wondering where the rug pad is? They’re important; they save your rugs and floors!
It’s looking wonderful already. The rug pulled it all together.
LOVE the 🦅s and so happy with the library paint color! 💛
Love the library! The wall color looks like lemon meringue pie…..yummy!
Thank you for sharing👍🏻❤️

The gates would be a fabulous project for students - if there are any carpentry/woodworking classes in the area!
@@dsmith9796 Plus a bit of metal work, an apprentice project maybe?
The colors are warm and inviting. Wonderful work!
Stunning room. Raymond does a wonderful job. Those Eagles are epic, wow. Great organising and work you all do.
The library looks so elegant and inviting ❤❤❤❤❤So excited the eagles will coming home soon 😍😘
🎉🎉EAGLES RETURN🎉🎉
Eagerly awaiting!!!
Don't you love the way they've been strapped securely and looking at each other?
My favorite public library, here in the U.S., is the same colors as yours. Beautiful. I hope I get to see it someday.
Julie never second guess yourself I thought you’re paint colors were better
I just put it together, Mapperton is watched over by American Eagles🦅Julie American,🇺🇲 refurbishes Mapperton, protecting for future generations❤
Oh how I love that color and perfect timing for me because I wanted to paint a room and I wanted a color close to the color of butter and you gave me the color for the vision I've wanted for my room very lovely thank you.
You are so welcome!
Excited to see the library updates! I’m using this room as an expiration here at my home office.🎉❤
the library looks fabulous!!
Beautiful color for the walls. Great job thanks for sharing
The library looks lovely! Julie, when someone says, "150 ml off the floor" does a part of you panic as to what that means, or have you now lived in England long enough that you don't give it a second thought?
My partner and I will be in London next week from Charlotte NC. Wish there was a way to see Maperton but time is tight. Well done !
Love that coffee shop kitchen!
I love, love the color of the walls. ❤
I would have preferred the color you picked out for the walls, Julie.
I looked up the place of Alberta’ childhood home on MAPS & it looks a nice location. This Exhibition looks to be Grand, I know your hard work and all the planning will teach people about her.
The house is absolutely beautiful!!
Do you ever plan on cleaning the outside of the house? I have seen others do it and it looks so much better.
One musnt do that to hamstone. The lichen helps preserve it. If we clean or power wash, we will ruin the stone.
All the updates look fantastic! I also wonder if the house itself could be pressure washed, would be lovely to see the stonework original colors and how it might have looked when it was first built. ❤❤
