I was on the Breakaway in November I like it a lot. The Spaghetti and Cheeseburger was excellent. Cagney, Le Bistro and Ocean Blue was outstanding. The main dining room for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner was Excellent. I always loved the Local. I’m willing to pay $5 or $10 dollars extra for Shanghai. I’m not willing to pay $40 or $50 dollar extra. The service at all the restaurants was outstanding.
Thanks for the video, guys. My wife and I and another couple will be on the Breakaway in one month at the end of January (2025). We’ll be fairly familiar with its layout as we were on her sister-ship, the Getaway, in 2023. A question I have is during your explanation of La Cucina, you mentioned that you only used one Specialty Dining for the meal. I didn’t know you could do that. How do you only use 1 Specialty Dining for 2 people..?? Thanks, guys. We’re looking forward to the Breakaway next month, and then the Sky in 2026. Cheers from Kingston, Ontario, Canada. David.
@@davidpomerleau8419 great question. Norwegian does not prohibit you from only using one person's specialty dining package while two people dine. We frequently did this in the sushi on board the Viva. So essentially, while the package for us was two specialty dinings for two people, we just asked them to only use one and we only use the portions for one person which was more than enough for that restaurant. It's definitely more than enough for sushi 🍣
The 'American Diner' is a massive disappointment in my opinion. This used to be an add-on dining venue, where you paid for menu items, and honestly, the food was much better then. Now the food items are exactly the same as what you'd get a O'Sheehans or at the buffet. The only 'paid' option left are the shakes, if you're into that sort of thing. To me this venue is a complete missed opportunity. Make this into a paid venue, but theme it to something that rotates every 6 months to keep it exciting.
First of all, thanks for chiming in. Second, I do agree that the food quality is on par with osheehans. We think the core continues to be NCL cost cutting. Half to have your thoughts and happy cruising.
Fantastic reviews! Thank you!

In the Manhattan room, are you seated with the same people every night?
Also of note - Shanghai Noodle Bar will be an added cost effective 01-Jan-2025.
No longer complimentary.
