Great to hear from Ben again and look forward to another interesting chat in the new year hope he gets of to a flying start next season to get that second title . I do hope this sport doesn't pick up the same tribalism that football seems to have although I am no fan of that sport so just an observation from the outside really .I await with bated breath to hear the latest Off Track news at the same time hoping it's not going to affect the output of the channel 😉 we need as much as we can get guys👍
Thanks so much, CM! We’re not going anywhere, we need as much help as we can financially but even if I have to go back into shift work I’ll still do the show on a reduced basis - we need sponsorship to survive. Ben’s always a great addition on the show as he speaks his mind. He’ll certainly be back on in ‘25 as he chases that second BSS crown!
I don't know what to say to that other than thank you so very much :-) plenty more to come over the next couple of weeks and into 2025. Given the great shows that are out there your comment is hugely appreciated, thanks Moley.
I agree with the toxicity. Watched motorcycle racing, mainly GP for 40 years. There's never been a year when I haven't been supporting multiple riders in the same race. I was a fan of Schwartz and Rainey, different riding styles but both legends. Rossi and Biaggii ditto. And the dislike between the riders was between them, and also added to the excitement. Doohan winning at Jerez because of the crazy track invasion.
Now that one was REALLY good, love Ben, he's a great rider and a down to earth person. Really interesting bit about people speaking out of turn, that's so true and something I try not to do but probably fail sometimes. Thanks Dave, looking forward to hearing what may be in the pipeline for you for next year, sounds exciting. Would love to hear from Luke Stapleford if you can get him on
Thanks, Penny! I'll get Luke on when the season kicks off again in May, he's a bit boring so it might not be an entertaining show (only kidding, he's a funny lad) ;-)
Ben is absolutely right, way to meny people put utter crap on social media about how bad a rider was in a race! It's every weekend with BSB, the TT starts and lots of people post utter rubbish, all the riders do the best they can..... All the time. Ben is one of the best ever and honest ❤good luck with 2025
Thanks a lot, Simon! There are a couple of things in the pipeline for me but the show will remain (need sponsorship to continue fully but we’re working on it)
Tribal mentality is mainly down to football types getting in to bike racing, buy a brand new bike on finance and cant spanner their way out of Meccano cage.........have no idea what it means to be a biker as they didnt have them since a young age.
It’s a big statement but true in pat; I also feel social media really is more to blame than anything else. It’s more divisive than any football fan (I’m one of those, too) could ever be and it’s tainting the sport - fans of Glenn/Tommy or Valentino/Anyone who has the temerity to beat him, all played the social media game as well as the riders themselves in these later years. It isn’t going away, like most things we just have to accept that it’s part of the game now, sadly. Hope you’re well, mate 🫡
@@OffTrack_Podcast All good here in sunny Southport Dave , the first experience i had with the nastiness was to be fair when WSB was huge in the Foggy days..At Donington Aarron Slight had a big off and a group in front of us were cheering not knowing how bad he was,. It was rare back then but i have seen booing and jeering at riders and allsorts of frankly disgusting behaviour, we all have our favorites but its a life and death sport and these clowns need to realise that. A lot of these characters dont realise the harm social media can do, ot maybe they just dont care. I have been on the paddock side enough to know what goes in to just getting to a decent level and the sacrifices that have to be made to do well. It makes me rather sad reading some of the social media experts. Its brilliant for some things, like this podcast but has its bad side also.; Have a great Christmas mate.
@ Agreed on that, mate. There is no place for booing anyone in racing, I know it’s panto season but that’s all booing is good for. And exactly that, we know full well how hard the sport is and to get to World level doesn’t come by accident, just graft. Have a fantastic Christmas and all the best for ‘25, Chris
Do you agree with Ben and Dave? Let us know below 🙂
Another great watch Dave. Really appreciate the insight you present and in this instance get to see what a top lad Ben is.
Very kind of you, cheers John🙏🏼
Dave neal and your team just brilliant. Ben currie just amazing, loved every second 👍
Cheers, Tony! Kind of you and thanks from myself and Jen and from Matt in the background :-)
Great podcast once again could listen to Ben all day, he would be a great diplomat after his motorcycle career!
Thanks a lot, Mark! As for Ben being a diplomat after his career is done, I suspect he’d go completely the opposite way!! 😂

This really has become the best racing podcast these days.
