i hate bringing negativity, but this rusical was SO EARLY and literally no one shined for me besides sapphira and plasma… this rusical was literally three groups of three and one single main character. i dont think it was either megami, mhi’ya or morphine’s fault that their roles were blend… its such a shame, specially after two seasons with the best rusicals ever
honestly I think only plasma, Sapphira, Q and MAYBE nymphia had characters that could possibly win. Like when your character does not HAVE a personality (Morphine, Mhi'ya etc.) it's hard to stand out especially when you're not even recording lines yourself
My favorite part of the Rusical episode is usually everyone fighting for their roles. It's such a great juxtaposition of politeness vs. ambition and really puts everyone's social skills to the test.
the AS3 diva's live was a mess. Morgan's part would have been Lana Del Rey (it's in the full track) and this would have been another part you couldn't mess up, esp when Lana is known for giving zero energy on stage
I am sick at home with COVID right now. Playing a little drinking game where I take a swig of NyQuil every time you say "I don't know what else she could have done." I feel amazing rn, so thank you. Also, great video.
There's a difference between Rusicals in which the parts are handed out before the show starts (Herstory of the World), in which the queens choose before they arrive (Halftime Show), and ones chosen or assigned during the same episode. Katya couldn't fight for a different role because she was assigned Diana before the season started. Ginger *chose* to do Fergie, not picked by production to do it. The Sound of Rusic was bad because there was a sizable difference between the "leads" and the "ensemble". Usually the show at least tries to give each queen a spotlight moment (The Big Top). I maintain that this mostly failed because it happened too early in the season.
Couldn't agree with this video more. It's the same in acting challenges. Sure, the queen's ability could make and break them, but there is ALWAYS roles with a huge chance of landing you in the top and roles with an almost certain chance of landing you in the bottom. I feel sorry for Megami this week, because while I'm not convinced she would have slayed a leading role, she knew off the bat that taking a crappy role would almost guarantee a bottom placement.
Megami had a big part. Bigger than Plane and Xumani. She was just bad… but scripted challenges are made to the producers do what they want in the episode
I mean but like how are they going to write every single role to be even. I also feel like the main problems come with bad judging in these situations.
I agree, especially in this particular Rusical, where several of the roles were literally just "entourage flanking the main person." This time, it's like they didn't even try. @@RuPaulsDragRaceRejudged
The rusicals should be moreso judged on singing talent and agree-ability with production on recording, choreo and execution of the expectations. This would reward queens who do their jobs instead of rewarding queens who just get good parts. A drag queen in the real world will gain or lose jobs based on their ability to execute what the client wants, therefore the challenge could become something that's actually relevant to the performers careers outside the show, esp with so many wanting to eventually work on Broadway (or currently do work on Broadway). So judge by meeting expectations (what the "client" wants) rather than the material of the rusical they didn't write.
So when girls pick bad parts it’s rigged, but when Kandy picks a good part it isn’t… I agree that the parts should be balanced but the double standard in Kandy’s favor is crazy
When girls end up with bad parts it’s rigged. When someone ends up with a great part, it’s rigged, but they deserve praise for being able to detect what parts are rigged to win
I never undestood the opinion of "They couldnt have done anything!" bcs yes they could have done something, they could have fought harder for the standout roles. I am not mad and i understand why they make amazing roles and bad roles, bcs it shows what queens have the biggest nerve to stand their ground while giving great TV. The role picking *IS A CHALLENGE* in itself, and i think thats interesting. Not only that, but the queens that fought the role have a storyline for the episode. If you know a role is bad and small (bcs the queens read the scrip as far as i know) and thats gonna land you in the bottom for that but you still CHOOSE not to fight for X role, or fall for the queens, aka your competitors, arguement of "X queen fits role better", aka "Give X role to this queen so she can win/you lose" then i am sorry, thats your own fault. Just *FIGHT!* You have the opportunity to do so. If you lost the role, hey, that sucks, but you still lost the role. Thats just life. And Life Is Not Faaair. If i was a producer, i would do the same. But ofc, if production assign the roles, like AS3, then fling this whole essay out of the window. #JusticeForThorgy
Yes! You stated this so much better than I did. If ever there were a time to stand your ground, it's during that role-choosing process - true for Rusicals and any other pre-written acting challenge (like the SNL parody).
Honestly I didn’t understand the bottom 2 of Salina and Lucy- I thought the bottom 2 was definitely Luxx and Sasha based on their performances (laggy choreo and badly synced lips to the words)
@@samimajid9909 you think so?? I feel like her acting was great but she looked like she was missing a lot of the words when I watched it- in such a generally good rusical I thought that was a bottom deserving placement
@@collinhornbuckle3987Sasha in the top 2 is already a far reach, what more is a win. Clear bottom 3 are Sasha, Luxx and Salina. Sasha as low, thanks to her runway. Lucy has no business being in the bottom. She could've easily win the rusical if only production and the judging panel were fair.

i HATE when rusicals are lipsync pre-recorded voices instead of queens singing (live or not;).
this is why shade: the rusical and madonna: the unauthorized rusical are still the best rusicals ever. period.
Exactly the voices were grating and didn’t fit them at all and it took me out of the moment. Especially Mhi’Ya’s voiceover and Morphine’s
YES! It's much closer to a musical that way, and it means that they have some influence over how much character makes it into their vocals at least

Absolutely. Morgan is a great performer, but I don’t think anyone could’ve made Lana work
Where can you find the full track with the lana del rey part ?

I feel really bad for her. She could see the writing on the wall, just like Thorgy

Celine Dion can be imitated. In her interviews, she is over the top and silly. And Ana Gastyer was hilarious as Celine on SNL.
That’s fair. The part was not written particularly well, which could’ve been an issue
"omg dela rapping jullie andrews, you´re so funny" well you wrote that
One of the best rusicals for me was the one for Joan Crawford. Everyone’s role was equally important. Please bring those writters to each season 😅
Luxx and Salina were on season 15 it says 14
08:00 Yara also couldn’t shake herself like Shakira hard enough. It’s so difficult
Concerning the comments on impersonating Celine Dion.......Ana Gasteyer would like a word.
I don't know who that is (that is a joke, love her)
