The Strokes are my fav band, I've seen them 7 or 8 times. Live, in my experience, they range massively from sensational to 'obviously can't be arsed'. But this song was just the best. Just the best. The best it gets.
Gig was amazing, but BST couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. It was horrible being in that crowd. What you don't see is that there is a big VIP bit for all the fake tory fans and it's all fenced off meaning there is little space for the main crowd. People getting crushed, at times I wasnt even stood on the floor I was just sandwhiched between two people in the air. The same happened at Libertines the previous year, people were hospitalized because of it. Also, as it takes place in a residential area in London the speakers are quiet and it was sometimes hard to hear jules voice (especially as he had the vocoder on). Never get a huge set at Hyde Park either because the curfew is 11pm sharp and the second it's 11.01 power is cut. Genuinely terrible gig organisers BST! The strokes were amazing however and during Juicebox the crowd went nuts. The Strokes should really come to the UK more, LOOK AT THE FUCKING CROWD'S YOU GET IN THE UK!!
The British and Argentine public is the best You're right that's the negative of going to a concert Here in Argentina played for 90 thousand people their best concert in years
Totally agree, was there with my girlfriend at the time and it was so bad in the crowd. The band put on a great show but the sound was difficult and yeah difficult audience!
I will never forget this show. I am Argentinian, i was there for holidays and when i find that there was going to be a show in the Hyde park of The strokes i get maaaaad !! and also Beck was playing that night before them was unforgettable
Watch his recent Rolling Stones interview series, where he talks with people. He's definitely aged. You can tell, especially at the end when the camera zooms in on his face. th-cam.com/video/RMIPgw4gMJI/w-d-xo.html
Idk why but I felt the 'please don't slow me down' part really attractive, just that lyric alone and the way Julian sings it in a slightly raspy, slurrish tone. First time properly listening to Reptilia but its a bloody brilliant song. Love The Strokes music altogether.
durumrurururrum dururuururum durururururuRUUUUrururuURURURuruURURurU dudurumrurururrum dururuururuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum. Pretty sure that was it.
He seemed impressed by the way you came in "Tell us a story, I know you're not boring" I was afraid that you would not insist "You sound so sleepy, just take this, now leave me" I said, please don't slow me down if I'm going too fast You're in a strange part of our town Yeah, the night's not over, you're not trying hard enough Our lives are changing lanes, you ran me off the road The wait is over, I'm now taking over You're no longer laughing, I'm not drowning fast enough Now every time that I look at myself "I thought I told you, this world is not for you" The room is on fire as she's fixing her hair "You sound so angry, just calm down, you found me" I said please don't slow me down if I'm going too fast You're in a strange part of our town Yeah, the night's not over, you're not trying hard enough Our lives are changing lanes, you ran me off the road The wait is over, I'm now taking over You're no longer laughing, I'm not drowning fast enough
when the crowd sings the guitar parts you know its a great concert
That thing was invented by the Argentinian crowd, mind you
I was there and I was mega disappointed with the crowd. Was quiet for most of the gig.

Such a simple but effective bass line
It's actually what got me into Bass. The pre chorus lick sounds great.
Love it!

I genuinely feel bad for Strokes fans who weren't at Hyde Park. It was fucking ace. Best gig of my life.
they were solid at Barclays last year
Missed it and I’m still gutted
Lucky bastard
over 4 years later and im still so annoyed i wasnt there. i was too young :(
It didn't even sell out!
I felt the chills hearing the crowd in the background. Must have been an awesome concert.
It was!
it was amazing! i was there and few days after that blur hit the stage
Half of the views are by Alex Turner.
Lol
He was there he is still hypnotised
i mean he did want to be one of them
Why? Haha
@@gyatt111n its an inside joke between am fandom i think
That bass tone in the mix is perfect.
Pretty sure that Reptilia is to Julian as Smells like Teen Spirit is to Kurt Cobain. Lmao

Song 2 to damon albarn
Alejandro Mdo dude wtf...
Alejandro Mdo no it was the suicide thing that freaked me out
i don't think so, actually julian used to play it on tour with The voidz
Looks like the band worked out for rodrick in the end
Yuyugen Rose thank you
Yuyugen Rose in those 4 months I’ve discovered how fucking amazing the strokes are and they’re deffo my favourite band now
legend has it, his mom is still dancing in the crowd.
2 years later.....and stil one of my favourite concerts i ever been to!
I second that. First time I saw Future Islands and had to wait through BECKsapointment.

That was the best night of my life, glad these videos are here
What a night, unbelievable gig
the beginning already extended my lifespan
I love how julian looks like both someone who just came out from a bath and had not taken a bath for a week at the same time.

another good underrated song is this one faceless humming by the impures

Albert absolutely going for it during Nick’s solo is so good to watch
I love how they don’t show Albert at all, especially on his main parts. They zoom into Valencia every time who’s doing the simple parts. Real cool. /s
2:58-3:04 I love it
Yeaaahh mee to :-) when i hear this passage in the original i miss this passage !!
You know its a tune when the crowd sing the guitar parts too
Fab’s drumming is so tight
He's dragging
*Drums please, Fab*
it's so easy to hear that it's not that tight hahaha
Lol
in the intro he dragged haha but we're humans and its ok to make mistakes

not as well as Dan Layus, though...

Amazing sound, great performance.
Maybe not the biggest Strokes fan but this band is amazing live👏👏👏
I died just watching at this video, I can't imagine how I'd feel if I were in a concert
Very difficult song, very well executed.. Amazing
Hyde Park, London - always delivers the goods. Just look at the RHCP concert in 2004

Se parece bastante al público argentino con Soda o Pearl Jam 😊
They sound better in this live version than on record and this guitar solo kicks ass
WHERE DID YOU FIND THIS AND IS THERE ANYMORE OF THIS CONCERT?!?!?
This version is insane. Amazing production as well.
My fave live performance
Me toco estar ahí con The Strokes Jueves y sábado con Blur, el mejor verano de mi vida.

This song is just one of those perfect songs.

Absolute musical perfection
I went to this concert, and the only thing I did was playing air guitar... remembering the Expert chart in my head.
I keep coming back to the sound of those drums… wow
00:41 Did the lead guitar was going straight through the chorus' riff?
Hahaha good spot
