Talk about religion in Indonesia is like this. The state ideology of Indonesia, called as Pancasila in Sanskrit means The Five Point, has the first point which is The Oneness of God. You can say Indonesia's foundation is about believing in Oneness of God because we are the creation and God is The Greatness, without God we are nothing. So, you must choose your religion by the age 17 years old when we make our National Identity Card. You should choose amongs the six (Islam, Catholics, Protestant, Hindu, Budha, Confucius). In Indonesia, you cannot be an atheist or jewish officially/administratively because they are the not permitted religion. But, there are many people administratively as Islam follower but atheist, or Catholic but Jewish. Or, administratively Catholics but Orthodox. If you practice the religion base on what the officially record is good. But if it is not, it is okay. Furthermore, Indonesia government is allowed people without any compulsion changing the religion, but you must registers the new religion to the state. It is because will affect the state treat: how to marry, how to be buried if dead, or doing anything in religion practice. Hope this will help you. 😅😊
