Chef takes Moroccan food to new heights with restaurant empire

With restaurants across California and in Hawaii, chef Mourad Lahlou is bringing delicious Moroccan food to new audiences. His two San Francisco restaurants have even earned Michelin stars. Dana Jacobson reports on the one-of-a-kind establishments.

Moroccan food is spectacular! It's one of those places that has influences from many different food cultures (African, Iberian, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, spice trade), and the resulting cuisine is unforgettable! This chef is making it his own by once again adding flavors from his adopted home.

Really loved what he said about how if I eat some Moroccan food I may not necessarily like it, sometimes you need to create a bridge (change and build on original recipes) to allow people from other cultures to enjoy it!

I think he was talking about the baghrir pancake as being Moroccan breakfast but served it with the not so Moroccan caviar and cream instead of Amlou which of course is the traditional way 😋😉
