    Imagine signing up to fight fires, earning a six figure salary, only to learn that the overwhelming majority of calls are for medical emergencies and directing traffic at traffic accidents.
    Does the public know about this?

    • @CalgaryFireFilmer
      @CalgaryFireFilmer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just because everyone doesn't fight fires daily doesn't mean they only run purposeless medical calls and traffic accidents. I wish the public knew the amount of work it takes or the sacrifices firefighters have to make in order to do their jobs.

      In your opinion, is getting paid handsomely to sleep, shopping for groceries, and chasing ambulances “sacrifices”?

    • @CalgaryFireFilmer
      @CalgaryFireFilmer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@gooddognigel9992 No I mean the increased cancer rates, increased rate of heart disease, major sleep deprivation. Not to mention working in all temperatures and during all hours of the day. Plus, your argument about sleeping at the station, some halls the crews don’t even get to see their beds in a shift. Even the halls that do get to make it to bed, nobody really sleeps well, because the chance of the tones going off never let you sleep properly. How’s that for sacrifices?

    • @gooddognigel9992
      @gooddognigel9992 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CalgaryFireFilmer “sleep deprivation”? What kind of response was that? You’re paid to fight fires, not sleep! Do police officers have beds in the precincts? Your arguments make no sense at all. The fact is why do they have beds at work in the first place? They get paid extremely well for a job that requires no post secondary education or degrees. Im not sure if your a firefighter yourself or like most people who have been fooled by their ongoing scam towards the taxpayers but you really are misguided about firefighters and what they actually do. It looks dramatic but looks can be deceiving and in their cases it truly is.

    • @CalgaryFireFilmer
      @CalgaryFireFilmer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gooddognigel9992 Haha you’re arguing my point now. They are paid to provide a service, so they go provide that service instead of sleeping. Hence the deprivation. At no time has a firefighter ever heard the tones ring, and just roll over and go back to sleep.

      @@CalgaryFireFilmer Nonsense Firefighters in Canada are nothing but overpaid glorified Ambulance chasers. Only 3 to 5% of their calls are even fire related. The vast majority of their calls are so called medical aid calls whereby they chase along with the Paramedics for often no reason at all other than trying to keep call numbers up in order to justify their grossly overpaid cushy jobs.Also under their IAFFA contracts they are permitted to sleep at night on the job baring any calls how many jobs do you know whereby employees are permitted to sleep on the job and get paid six figure salaries to do so? Small wonder many of them moonlight and have second jobs on the side on their numerous days off. Sadly they are often hidden away out of the view of the taxpayers eyes in their stations. Sadly they are so glorified by the Media and Television the public never question them or what they actually get away with.

    • @Dbodell8000
      @Dbodell8000 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nonsense ! Firefighters in Canada are little more than overpaid Ambulance chasers for the most part. Fact only 3 to 5% of their call volume could even be considered as actual fire calls with the vast majority being minor alarms activated or other types of minor nuisance calls or their so called medical aid calls whereby they attend calls with the Ambulance paramedics often for little to no reason at all. Even at accidents they mostly do minor jobs such as traffic control or scene clean up the Ambulance Paramedics are the ones doing the critical medical attention and are more highly trained for it. Other areas the public never see or aren’t aware of is the fact that under their IAFFA contracts they are permitted to sleep at at night and provided with beds and bedrooms to do so. How many jobs do we know of that get paid six figure salaries to sleep on the job? No wonder firefighters are know for moonlighting holding down lucrative second jobs on the numerous days off they also get. Sadly because they are so glorified by the Media and Television the taxpaying public and or city officials never think to question them or what they actually getaway with. The fact that due to improved building codes and practices has dramatically reduced the number of actually structures fires is much of the reason they now attend medical calls. Put simply in order to justify huge budgets and staffing they need to show call volumes and fire calls alone would never be enough on their own. The problem is it’s the taxpayers who actually end up getting hosed. Hopefully one day city officials everywhere will start taking a closer examination at the enormous cost of career Fire Depts and how much of it is truly required ?

      @@Dbodell8000 In Calgary, fire almost always beats EMS to scene, and they provided a vast amount of medical intervention before EMS does. Even with EMS there, fire still offers a ton of aid. And do you feel it would be beneficial to further deprive firefighters of sleep by not allowing them bedrooms? I’d like to see how that could positively effect the community

      @@CalgaryFireFilmer Deprive Firefighters of sleep 😪Your kidding right? Why should they be getting paid to sleep in the first place? And as far as providing a vast amount of medical help give me a break I’ve seen firsthand their medical treatment they provide it’s a joke. Slapping an air mask on someone’s face while they wait for the paramedics to arrive is not medical treatment and requires less skill than making a good cup of coffee. Clearly you have bought into the hero worship scam that’s been created around them so arguing any factual points to you is pointless and futile. Thankfully not everybody is fooled by them and more and more people are taking notice and asking more questions about why they attend calls when they are clearly not required.
