Ah yes, fighting games and cars, two of my favorite things.
Also that sports car you passed was a newer generation Honda NSX.

Just wanna say that I admire your ability to talk to the camera while focusing on driving in an open-air car. Maybe people would say it's not hard to do that, but if I was in that position, I feel like I'd get too nervous.

The main reason I watch your videos is mainly the chill vibe that I get, you seem to create a feeling a cant really get on other channels. So honestly, as long as you keep that vibe, you could really do any types of videos you want to do imo.

12:53 - That topic is so relatable man. I have that same thought process. Sometimes l be like "Let me set up my turntables", "Let me make a beat", etc.... then I boot up Tekken and get lost in the game then realize that I could have used those hours for productivity. Then it also depends on how competitive you are there will be a thought of "I can't fall behind, I have to get better and stay sharp".

Mate you don't understand how much I needed to hear all this! Very thought-provoking video man.
Keep doing what you're doing: there's absolutely a place for your channel in the FGC. Frankly, we need more channels like yours that help players chill and just enjoy the games, as opposed to stress about the sensory overload of these games. And as long as you keep making videos about them, I'll keep watching em!

I have always loved your fighting games because they are from the perspective of someone who is not a pro or insanely good. I think that instead of encouraging extreme competitive play, your content encourages engaging with the competitive aspect of the game, but also relaxing and just having fun with it. They've always made me excited to go back and play as a player who always hovers between c and a rank in a given game.

Nice about the gears. the technique you use its called, downshifting with revolution matching (idk the exact name in english, "double clutch" or “heel and toe” these are actually 2 similar techniques but the goal its the same). its used to slow down speed by using the motor or also to get better grip for the tiers to the ground for turing a curve.

    • @NihongoGamer
      @NihongoGamer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah I tried some Heel & Toe but at the time I didn't quite understand it physically so I kept trying to pump the throttle while simultaneously bring up the clutch. I'm sure that's possible too but I might start with keeping them separate to start with. Fun to discover new challenges!

    • @terry-
      @terry- 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@NihongoGamer Its really fun once you master it. My car has the 2 pedals too far away so I use double clutching and revolution matching. The secuence its something like this, Break a little, clutch and put the gear in neutral, pump the throtle to match the high revolutions the lower gear will have, and then clutch again to finally enter the lower gear.

One of the most enjoyable videos i have watched for a long time, so relatable! I think the reason most people struggle to get "good" is because we all have too many interests and facets to life. Really good players tend to obsess the NTh degree at all costs..... Keep up the good work!

The car at 15:39 seems to be the Acura NSX (the newer one since in Japan the first gen was a Honda). Sadly after the 2022 model year they won't be making anymore since it hasn't sold all that well for numerous reasons but I think the car was ahead of it's time when it first came out. Also it's great to hear that you learned how to properly downshift!

I'm bad at basically any FG that isn't P4U/P4U2, but so much funny/dumb stuff happens in fighting games (especially with friends while in a call) that I decided to start posting some edited clips, and people really enjoyed watching it! In my opinion, content like Lythero's, Magatsu's, and mine, is good for showing people that there is tons of fun to be had even at low to mid level.

If you want to get better at fighting games (or anything) you have to study the theory behind everything, meaning there is literature and different styles for you and your opponent. Like studing chess. you have to know why you do things and why your opponent do the things he does and what he wants to do and where he wants to move or where he wants you to move or want you to do. And it takes time, in my case in 5 years I went from winning to practically no one, to win 2020 garou world animevo online tournament. first 1 or 2 years where strong theory learning and discovery, then the rest practicing with the theory in mind and always trying to learn and improve from others too, its a never ending cicle. Im now retired from competitive becose I know what it takes to be higly competetitive all the time and have to be deeply involved with the comunity and only play casually.

Yes, I'm a fighting game fan and found your channel through a stick review, but that's not what keeps me watching. Your videos offer a very specific and wholesome "slice of life" experience that really can't be recreated. There's plenty of other channels I can go to if I want esports level play, but there's only one place I can go to watch an expat's coffee ritual while they engage in thoughtful introspection.

as a growing creator, I resonate with this video heavy! I thought my love for watching fighting games & talking about them will get outclassed by the pro players.
I want to say that I personally feel like if you're not that good, the more casual approach and appeal side of fighting games is the route I've been taking a lot with fighting game content creation!

Dang, you got an MX-5? Must be a pretty fun ride for those Japanese backroads. But on the subject of fighting games, I've been watching your channel for 5 years, give or take, and I've always found your gear reviews and fighting game gameplay a lot of fun. It really reignited my interest in fighting games and made me spend more than I'm comfortable with on fightsticks and parts. Nowadays, I'm pretty mid-level myself and while I can hold my own against moderately good players in most fighting games out there, I've never quite put in the time to do all the sweaty combos and set-ups, which doesn't even particularly bother me. All of the friends I had that started playing fighters around the same time that I did quit playing specifically because they hit road blocks that turned them off so I see why fighting games are just a phase for most people. But I'd love to see you experiment with other content and grow your channel. Just never forget that your fighting game content made a difference for many people and we still love it to this day.
P.S: The car that passed you by at the end looked like a Honda NSX. Pretty sweet wagon, ngl.

A lot of ideas, angles and discussion when it comes to creating content especially for fighting games. There's also a lot of phases to go through before you can feel comfortable with what you want to make. Better skilled players demonstrate and teach or essentially sell their personality. But here's a list of ideas and you can assess the target audience and its reach:
    1. Footage of main modes or playthroughs
    2. Move list collection footage
    3. Lore videos and art analysis
    4. Match analysis / streams / Gaming session
    5. Tutorials
    6. Reaction videos
I think a large issue with fighting game content comes with timing. How many content creators will there be for SFV when the game ends and people are busy making content for a new game? It's an endless cycle where the depth of any one fighting game is lost because it's not being played as heavily or there's just too much depth in the roster to go explore. It's like a restaurant. You don't go and try everything but you try a few dishes only to go to another eatery. But as you say, at least countless people eat food vs play specific fighting games to learn the dance / language and culture. More like a virtual martial art in some cases. And for what? To fight people? To learn after dropping $__ amount of dollars and time? To connect to other people?
I'd like to quit fighting games but it's very difficult to resist a convenient collection of digital action figures. Make your own unique content and those unique people will come to your videos for your take. Do it piecemeal but spend most time with what matters. Family.

Whoa! Didn't know you were doing this. Great to always see you thinking and all.
Maybe your thing is make up your own fighting game and what you would put in it as a what if. Fighting games aren't as time consuming, well they can be, but easy to pick up and press buttons.
I maybe even talking open setting with fighting game players in casual setting, what fighting games have brought to their life and what they see in the future after fighting games. We're starting to see some more coaching now or go into food industry developing (Fuudo).
I'll have to set an alert been missing all your videos of late. It's good to see you.

Great discussion. I think your motivation for your channel (learning about new things through meeting and interacting with others) is a very good one! I made my channel to motivate me to learn the things I've always wanted to, but that don't come to me easily (fighting games, art, and video editing primarily). So I am also not incredibly strong at fighting games.
I believe that tying in things from other hobbies/fields/disciplines can be an interesting way to spice up content as someone who is not a top level player, without resorting to tier lists and similar content. For instance, I am currently in the process of making a video that shows how to apply an art technique as a method to develop confidence in fighting games.
I adore fighting games and I think what you said about dependency has been true in my case at several points in my life. Taking breaks has been helpful I think, though I'm often afraid of losing "gains" lol.
For me, I want to be good, but I don't desire to be in the top 1%, so I'm not rushing to get anywhere. And I don't personally see spending time on something I enjoy that doesn't generate revenue as a waste of time, but I also don't have a family to take care of lol.
I really enjoy your content and hearing you express your thoughts. Wishing you (and your fam) the best in whatever you choose to pursue!

When you play, it's better to have small goals than no goals at all. Playing ranked out of habit without an active plan of trying to do something different/better than yesterday in how you play will make it look like you invest a lot of time and gain nothing.

Yeah, fighting games are more of a life-long journey of making your own storylines and feeling more and more comfortable with yourself and other people.
Outside of just making gameplay videos showing your journey (and occasional tech and analysis), there's just not that much variety. Like the games themselves, the journey is repetitive by nature.
Trying to go out of your way to create other types of FG content must be very draining. I'm glad to hear you're thinking of bringing variety, sounds healthier than trying to stick with the endless struggle.
