Related - Carver 5 was the setting for the video game Mech Commander 2. The almost complete MC2 game source code was released for free by Microsoft some time ago, so you can get the game for free with a fairly small mout of effort. For people who like programming or have an interest in game development, you can see what a major studio video game from 2001's source code looks like. It's totally worth checking out.
I've got the original game on disk but cannot get MC2 to play (from disk or ISO) unfortunately. Spent several hours the last two days trying to get it functioning, nothing works unfortunately.
@@Thearmedpainter I was able to get mine(og release CD) to work with admin privileges and XP SP2 comparability. Used the patch on Sarna, although I think that only fixes the AI to be less stupid. Also have to edit the settings file to turn off hardware mouse and manually set video resolution, it wasn't particularly easy. Mission briefing videos don't work tho :( Building it from the free source code is relatively easy, as Microsoft released it as an example/advertisement for their build tools at the time. I haven't tried building it since the Windows 7 days tho, maybe I'll see if that works better than the OG CD. Another option for older games is to get an old win xp computer or, easier, use an emulator. Not sure how well that would work for MC2, it was quite graphically demanding for it's time.
Making me think about getting some better terrain for AS besides the box set card terrain. It works so well but doesn’t look quite as nice as real terrain.
This has me excited for my alpha strike campaign that I am going to start this weekend with my son.
Are you going to do battle reports also?
Hopefully you both have a lot of fun either way 😊
You are knocking out a lot of videos lately. I'd love to see your take on some lore :)
I'd really need someone to help research and write that kind of thing =/
Let’s go ComStar!
Just getting into this series. Love the content, mechs, table, and battle reports. Great stuff man!
Nice tanks, can't wait for mine.
great battle report!
Wooo down with Comstar!!!
Comstar 4 lyfe!
Internet never would have broke if Comstar was left in charge.
Nice DRD tanks 😊
Yea those ones are nice. I use them as Goblin Proxies.

SEYLA! CLAN WOLF FOR LIFE!
I just realized you have a skull measuring tape! Where’d you go to get that, TAP?
It’s an ancient GW measuring tape.

I've been leaning more towards Classic lately. But if I had your setup, I'd be playing a lot more AS!
