    Shout out to Brian and Shawn: you guys are what this country needs, good and true people who show up when help is needed. Friends, family, neighbors, children, dogs; this video is all love. Changing JFK’s quote a bit for you guys: Ask not what your friends can do for you, but what you can do for your friends.❤️👏

      So true Katherine Butler - so when is the last time you saw Trent & Allie helping a friend - over the past few years I've certainly seen them ask for and receive help from countless people - many who couldn't afford it but helped them anyways......they seem to be real good "takers" of help BUT have not given back from what I can see - just my 2 cents - fortunately not all people in the world are like them....

    • @cjpeach1
      @cjpeach1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      What?! Don't be too hasty to judge! The fact that these friends 'showed up' to help is proof that they value Trent and Allie's friendship. Just because you haven't seen a video of Trent and Allie helping others, doesn't mean it hasn't happened. I've seen on another couple's site where they referred to Trent and Allie helping them; and, also contacting Trent to ask advice about electrical system on their van build. Not to mention all the time and effort setting up Trent's mother's farm so that she can manage it. I've been watching their videos for nearly a year. I'd say they have high character. And, their friends appreciate them.

    I would recommend adding about eighty pounds of weight about every twelve feet or so around your garage. Put cement inside of a pvc pipe works really well. Keeps it from becoming a giant sail in the wind. As a multi year art show survivor I have seen my share of unweighted structures fly away. After flying, they are usually in pieces. Good luck this winter

    Trent and Allie, I just saw the intro and that “Canadian tested” tent/structure over you’re trailer is just “okay” (Canadian speaking here). It will work, but there is some daily maintenance you will need to do. 1) whenever it snows, pull the snow right off the top (we had to make a special scraping tool) to be able to reach right to the top. Even if it rains, pull the puddles down! 2) after you pull the snow down, clear the area around the base with a snow blower so that the sides don’t have snow anywhere against them.
    We had the same structure at our land. We weren’t living there but we would go up weekly to check on the place, remove the snow and clear around. One night we had a huge drop of snow (just a couple of feet, but it was the heavy-type, not the powdery type. We knew we had to get up to the land right away!! When we got to the land the next morning, the structure had bowed in the centre and ruined the steel. We were flabbergasted because the steel seemed so strong! As we were repairing it, the sun came out and melted more snow. That made another heavy area, and another part of that steel structure failed as we were trying to fix the first problem.
    When we contacted the manufacturer, they blamed us for not removing the overnight snow faster.
    Stupidly, we bought a second one the second year. Even though we went to the land more often, sometimes just to clear the snow, and a neighbour helped clear it when we couldn’t get up there....it happened again. And those things are not cheap!!!
    The next year we made a (very expensive) steel structure garage. It was a job to build, but we haven’t looked back. In Canada, we have a rather derogatory term for those types of structures, but I won’t post the term here in case it offends someone.
    Take away - they’re a pain to use, but keep on top of the clearing off and clearing the sides away so as to avoid a whole lot of hurting. Your snow-load sounds like it will be heavy, don’t keep any snow on or around the structure. All the best you two. I wish you the best.

    • @travelamma2779

      Sounds like you might need to heat the space between Terry & the structure to above freezing, to cause melt-off during the night.

    Another great video of the progress. Here is an observation: I noticed that the wood that was placed in the basement was laid down without putting any wood blocks under the stack. I would suggest that the wood would be elevated a little above the concrete to protect it from water pools. On our jobs, we always elevate the wood stacks with wood blocks (with 2 x4s). This is just a thought.
    You have very good friends. Please protect those friendships, for they are invaluable. Everyone did an excellent job. It sure warms the heart to watch friends work together!

    Job well done !
    A quick word on snow blowing: Do NOT get overly anxious at the beginning !!! You MUST have a solid base of packed snow, otherwise you will break you blower with all the loose rocks and frozen dirt. Drive on the first layer of snow and pack it down. Set your bottom spacers correctly. Any loose objects will fuck up your blower !!! Your blower will find all kinds of stuff under the snow miraculously..... You do NOT want to fix equipment in a snowstorm without a heated garage/shop. The worst was a phone book getting stuck, good thing for shear pins, get plenty of extras !!! only way to get a phone book out, is a blow torch.
    Luckily phone books are a thing of the past.
    GOOD luck !!!

    Hi I have one suggestion for your kaboda tractor you need to have chains or you will get stuck really easy if it is a tire vehicle if you buy semi cains they are much cheaper and much beefier all you need to do is cut them down to size. They are only about a hundred dollars a set versus $300 a set for cheesier ones that won't last. I recommend going to FleetPride in Salt Lake to get them. Also for a living on the mountain look at this product up it's called spidertrax they are chains for your regular vehicles that are incredible you can put them on yourself Ali there are nice and easy.

    "The Trent and Allie SHOW" ... Amazing episode !!!
    I don't know if any commenters already said this, it was so intense and I felt some of the pressure you were under ... and I was of course relieved to see you make a lot of good progress. Good friends and neighbors are a blessing.
    Good luck with the remaining work and I look forward to the next episodes.

      I was wondering the same, but then realized how great it'll be to have a perimeter when they get 8 ft of snow out there. Also some protection for the roof of the trailer which aren't known to be so strong...

    Great job at getting all the roof done the plastic up on the windows and openings and the temporary garage. Your friends are all so wonderful for coming out to help. That is what true friends do. It was great watching everybody helping. Mac was so cute hanging outside with everybody and playing with Frank and Frank’s buddy. Allie you did a great job videoing and keeping up with all that work. You all are so blessed. The weather held up so you were able to finish. With as fast as those clouds were moving and did not know if everything was going to get finished. I was on the edge of my seat for sure. Well I hope you got enough food looks like you might be stuck in for a week. Stay safe and warm and get some Rest and Trent if you have to go out in the dark make sure you take something to protect yourself. Big Bear is still out there somewhere. Lots of Love ❤️ in this video. Can’t wait for more. Thank you for sharing. 😊😊

      Well the tractor they don't have to pay for if Kabota gets the free advertising and the tractors are mentioned in a certain amount of videos. They've done it for other TH-camrs. The Tubers don't actually buy the equipment it's on loan.

    Yay! You made it with ‘a little help from your friends!’ Wow! Who would have believed!?! Really happy to hear you are getting both a snow blower and tractor. Good on you! We lived in heavy snow country nearly 20 years with just our heavy duty snow blower before we could get a good tractor! We built a rolling greenhouse like the cover you put on Terry, except with greenhouse film. You will be happy to know several feet of snow slide off the tight skin!
    Hey guys! You need anchors for the wind. We are more protected than you on our windy side and we have put in 3’ anchor screws in the ground. This is the side that gets the wind from winter storms. Our greenhouse is more protected from the wind on the other side so we only put one anchor where it was not as protected. From what I see of Terry’s location wind will whip up your hill with no trees or other barriers to slow it down.

    Bales of straw can help with warmth and stability of the tent. More mice too, LOL. Come spring you can use the straw to cover any muddy spots.

    • @LuckyBaldwin777
      @LuckyBaldwin777 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a couple of mice in my trailer. They're actually pretty good little pets. As long as you're not mean to the little guys, they're very friendly. They're also amazingly smart. Plus they're territorial. If I get a new mouse in the trailer, the other two run him off.
