In this vlog, I will discuss with an Hotel Industry Chef about the life of hotel management graduates in Canada. We will also discuss about the Pros and Cons, Challenges and future career growth in Hotel industry. My friend Devansh is working over 2 years at WestIn in Whistler, Canada. He did his bachelors in Hotel Management from India and completed a Post graduate diploma in Culinary Management from Selkirk College, Canada. We talked about how he got his first job as a Chef in Canada and his experience working in the most popular tourist attraction in British Columbia i.e., Whistler.
We discussed how hard working the life of chef is in Canada including working 12 hours shifts in hotels. The different departments one can work in Hotel are Front Desk, House keeping and Kitchen department. The best add on to your skills in Canada is knowing an additional language like French, Spanish or Mandarin, etc. For students, looking to work in British Columbia, they can also get Red Seal certification that gives you additional 50 points towards your PR Points. Some challenges based by hotel professionals are they have to deal with a lot of people including Humble, Polite as well as rude and arrogant customers. You get to make networks with business owners, influencial people and widen your social and professional circle. The major drawbacks working in a hotel industry is that you never get days off on weekends and any festivals or statutory holidays like Christmas, New years, Diwali, etc. Overall, we discussed everything about the life of a Chef in Canada including the perspective of all hotel professionals.

Good video. However, whoever you interview mostly ignores the F&B dept. Its mostly about Front office, Housekeeping, Kitchen and Guest serves.
