The same thing happens when someone is PROPERLY fishing, i.e. in Salt water. There are always bigger Kingfish or tuna that follow the one who takes the lure. If you put a camera down when bottom fishing, you see the same thing, larger fish attracted but hesitating. I have always thought it was natural selection, the bigger fish IS bigger because he is slightly more wary and canny, checking the bait out before striking and the smaller one doesn't and gets caught.
Obviously you don't know how to fish. Fish can swallow the hook and circles hooks are used to help prevent this. Hook them in the gut can kill the fish.
I had the same setup but with a smaller boat. You should do what I did as a precaution when you hook a larger than usual fish that can drag it under. Attach one of those gadgets to the boat that has a tablet than dissolves in water and sends up a balloon with a line of mono. It helped me recover my boat more than once. 😊

Circle hooks reduce the chance of gut-hooking compared to other types of hooks. Most of the time they slide out of the esophagus (if swallowed) and catch the corner of the mouth instead.

Use a down rigger clip and have it run line off a pole… let’s you drop bait out further than you can cast it with out risking the bait flying off, good luck
Always wanted to rig up a tug boat with a functional rod and reel haha I'm sure you could rig up a spin caster (think kids reel) on an ice fishing rod (sub 4" long) and get results
They make velcro quick disconnect too so you can whip you're rod to detach from the boat and fight it normally in case a fish too big for the boat takes it
I tried this once in texas at a spillway, long story short it cost me a lot of money.. check your local laws. Just saying. I have heard using uav's is legal now, if that's so I'm sure they have had to change some of the laws.

I built a giant 8 foot long by 4 foot wide rc boat from scratch that is made to wither fish with or to carry large baits out off the beach to the nearest drop offs at edge of the sand bars at 500 yds away is the max i have ever drove a bait out with it and caught some mnice mahi mahi and redfish whixh are from the drum family of fish. I also cauggt a nice little redfush using the boat to fish and a few soecjled trout as well by pulling the lure bwhind theboat about 100 feet behind so the boat doesnt scare the fish

-Using special hooks so you don't hurt the fish
-Using fish as bait
Obviously you don't know how to fish. Fish can swallow the hook and circles hooks are used to help prevent this. Hook them in the gut can kill the fish.
