My Grandfather was in Korea. He was a signalman. Semaphore and Morse. Radio was compromised: NK knew English, but they didn't KNOW English. He spoke with flags. He passed in 2011. I thank your father for his service.
But still lest not us forget those who sacrificed and served & their families. My father with his two brothers served, I can not remember a time that the family did not serve, this song brings sadness. I hope this song touches those who send into battle.

As an Anglo-Catholic I agree with you that the Military Institutions' honor of the Lord Jesus Christ is of paramount consideration in the preparation of future officers in the Armed Forces; but let us not forget that Jesus was born a Jewish child and raised as a Jew in a Jewish family. I'm not implying that you have forgotten this, but it seems so easily overlooked at Christmas of all times. We are a Judeo-Christian nation which respects and defends people of all faiths. After all, didn't this Jewish child grow up to become the fulfillment of the Hebrew Scriptures in His Sacrifice at Calvary and Resurrection three days later? Perhaps I'm coming off a little too "testy" and don't want to appear such. But I was an Air Force officer's son and raised in a very devout Catholic family, and our parents made sure our full rights to respect as Catholics were respected. In general I found that they were until my first day at Lindsey Air Station's (Wiesbaden, then West Germany) on base elementary school (5th grade) it fell to me to give the Our Father during the prayer and Pledge which started each day off. I was stunned because I wasn't expecting prayers to be said out loud in a military dependents school. Apparently they weren't a universal requirement even in the Air Force during Nov. '62 when this occured. I had transferred from a parochial school near Wright Patterson, AFB in Ohio. All went fine then as soon as I'd reached the end, I stopped and noticed several snickering kids whom I presumed to be wiseguys just wanting to "test the newbie."Okay, fair 'enough. But when others started giggling, and I hadn't said the "for thine is the Kingdom and Power ..." ending, perhaps out of a memory lapse produced by such a stumbling "intro" or whatever ... my kindly teacher quickly grasped the situation, explained it and why I was so awkward. She later revealed she was a Lutheran. I never forgot this woman and the kindness she showed that year and the year after when at another school she had me for 6th grade. I wasn't a great student and perhaps was demonstrating the onset of ADHD and some other learning difficulties; LDs which at that time were damn hard to overcome due to the lack of widespread professional knowledge in the teaching profession then. I'm not sure if my teacher is still alive, I'm 73 now. At this age we don't take anything for granted. However, if she has passed away, I have no doubts this kindly teacher is at home in one of the Lord's many mansions. My wife of 43 years and I have been blessed with a mixed marriage that has given us many happy years while raising four adult children and they have further blessed us with three granddaughters and two grandsons. Let's teach by demonstrations that the mansions up there with the Lord are built down here by faith and doing the Lord's work by giving more than lip service to His teachings. This isn't just a Christian "thing" but an essential building block for any credible faith in the God of Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed. And this requires unconditional love and forgiveness. Who among us is perfect. Right?
We few,We happy few,We band of brothers; For he today that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother. It has been fifty years now, and I can still see your faces.
I can’t remember where I put my keys five minutes ago but I remember their faces, their names, where they were from, what they planned to do when they got home. Some didn’t. God bless the veterans. Give them peace. Let them sleep at night. I can’t.
"People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." George Orwell. God Bless All who serve their country with honor.

My Dad & Uncle were Pearl Harbor Survivors. They made the Navy their careers. They passed within 6 months of each other in 2007. This was sung at their funerals. It brings me to my knees. Found a grave in the cemetery in Luxembourg of someone he was told by a friend at the end of the war was alive. The guy died the day after his friend had seen him on one of the last days of the war in Europe. Said he thought of him from time to time and wondered about his life and hoped he was happy. My two brothers and sisters survived for a time but my younger brother passed from Aids. Dad passed in 1977 almost one year after retirement which was such a sad thing. Even today we are torn between the love for our now deceased parents. Except for my deceased brother we all succeeded in one way or another. Did the same on September 11 and 12 2003 on a visit from the UK - just a humbling experience. Walking the Wall I read the names of my generation (I'm now 69) who paid the ultimate price.
Went with my cousin ex US Army served in Vietnam, I served in Aden. The Wall is a truly humbling and moving experience. From Scotland, former Royal Marine.
Wonderful. I would love to go there but my traveling days are over. We had an American navy base 3 miles from my house. Burtonwood airbase...now mostly demolished. But the older generation now 80-90 years old remember those young men so far from home with great affection. In honour of them, I watch the Arlington memorial on TH-cam from time to time.
I think of my uncle who fought in Vietnam and only told me only story of his service while in Vietnam, I was 14 when he told me he never said a word to a single soul till he told me in 2002 two weeks before he was called home and I think of him daily and it is a huge honor that he told me right before he died.

When I hear this song, Taps, Hymn to the Fallen, and Amazing Grace, I am always moved to tears. I was a Soldier, young and strong. Now I am old, fat and gray of hair. I miss my brothers and sisters in uniforms, especially those lost in battle in Iraq and died by suicide at home. I don't know if their sacrifice was worth it. Time will tell. But their families and friends never doubt for a second they would rather have them lived a long and good life. We hold no one responsible for our loss, our government who lied to us nor the enemy who took their lives. But when the drums of war start, stop and think. Is this really a just cause worthy of the most courageous among us? The American military will answer the call and fight. Just make sure we put our youth into noble causes because anything less robs them of life for nothing. Iraq Vet

I lost such good friends at the height of their youth in Vietnam. And yet, by the luck of the draw, I have lived such a full life with a wife of 51 years and three grandchildren. I am so, so grateful to you--Fred Holjes, Chris Clearwaters, Joe Eubanks, Carter Howell, and others. Every time I listen to this, I tear up. I joined the Air Force and spent time in South East Asia. I retired after 21 years. Almost weekly I come back to pay tribute to my father who passed away about 5 years age.
Tomorrow, July 5th 2020, marks the 49th year since the passing of my beloved grandfather James J. Piper who served in the US Army during World War I. I grew up around him my entire younger life until I left home at age 22. He was wounded twice by German machine gun fire in the last great offensive of the Great War, the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. I have his Purple Heart certificate conserved and framed along with some other precious memorabilia. We had a very special relationship as I was his first grandson. Pap was a 'tough' customer from the old school. He was raised rough - went in the coal mines at age 10, and had black lung. He also got a dose of mustard gas while in France over a hundred years ago. May his memory be eternal. I will never forget you, Pap, and think of you often.

Thank God that our Military institutions honor the Lord Jesus Christ.
Right?

I miss my brothers and sisters in uniforms, especially those lost in battle in Iraq and died by suicide at home. I don't know if their sacrifice was worth it. Time will tell. But their families and friends never doubt for a second they would rather have them lived a long and good life. And as a proud ally, I say thank you for yours as well. We appreciate your sacrifice and mourn with you over your losses. We will remember ❤
As a Royal Navy Veteran of the 70s I send Much Respect to all Servicemen/ Women everywhere.
And to you too, sir. Thank you so much for serving your country.
Brought a tear to my eye and memories of friends killed in action. I'm old and I'm looking forward to meeting my fallen friends on the other side. "Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."
Thank you for heroic service. God bless.
I love this song and remember it in honor of all soilders who went and died for thiscountry. My Stepfather who passed and was a Construction Engineer, during WWII in Europe and taughtme honor, love and respect for this country, my family, duty when called and protect all thiscountry has stood for since we became a nation. Today ourchildren have not been honest nor loyal, nor respectful to our ncestors and the laws they set for to guide this nation in loyalty and by God's orders. They are becoming, godless and decietful in their nonrespect and loyalty to thisnation and citizens of this nation.
I was thinking about all my army buddies when died for our country and I 😢
To All Veterans in all wars thank you may God bless and keep you forever you deserve no less
My Darling Brother a Royal Marine vet passed away with a smile on his his and at peace , stand down sleep well till the last parade semper fi
How can 310 people be so hopelessly heartless as to give this video a "thumbs-down"? One thing is for sure; not one of them ever served.
Perhaps they had their own experiences of loss and grief
Or loved anyone who served
My Mom would call those 310 'pukes.'
The absolute rubbish who disgraced this video are not worthy to breath the very air
This is hauntingly beautiful. God bless our troops all over the world.
So beautiful!!! Yes, our liberty comes at a very high price!! My dad was in WWII---he retired. My nephew is retired Navy. I am so proud!! Our Nation is not what it was 5 years ago!! I pray!!!!
It is better without Trump in the White House.
I assert that your nation is just fine…, it’s has generation upon generations of young people want to serve it…, it is a hero for so many of us around the globe… a fumbling, mistake making big sibling… that is full of amazing people…
Don’t lose heart our Ww2 made us to know of the leaders and courage that he met in the Americans they served with….
Take heart🌹🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸
You obviously don’t know anything about Trump or just how he has been sent to us to save our country and it’s grand experiment. The corrupt media and evil politicians have brainwashed the common people like you who refuse to think and listen.
@@betsyhall5094 The price of freedom is the most expensive thing of all. The price is blood. Always has been.
Ty to all servicemen who have served in any branch of the military and in foreign wars. This song makes me cry every time. To my Grandfather Pop Pop Lewis who died this year at 99 years old and fought in World War 2. Love you all!!
My dad fought in the Second World, graduated from West Point in 1950, crossed over to the Air Force, flew fighters in both Korea and Vietnam. He retired after 24 years. I joined the Air Force and spent time in South East Asia. I retired after 21 years. Almost weekly I come back to pay tribute to my father who passed away about 5 years age.
Thanks for for service both Airman soldiers
We were soldiers once..... and young. Salute to our comrades who paid the ultimate price. Rest in God.
Our broken Brothers let us bring, to the Mansions of the Lord. 🙏
I cannot hear this piece without weeping. If there is a finer expression of pride in grief, I don't know what it is. Bless those who have served, honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and comfort those who mourn their passing.
As an Army Helo pilot in 1966, I can only imagine what my Brothers went through in the Ia Drang. I feel and pray for all of them every day, even now. Thank you.
Makes me think of my Dad. A couple days ago was 5th anniversary of his passing. He was 21 years in the Air Force. Thank you West Point.
God bless all who served this wonderful country and are presently serving. This music is absolutely beautiful!
Although I was in The Navy for four years in ‘60’s inS E Asia, I live across the Hudson from the Point and love to West Point every chance I get.
Just lovely. God bless America. From a simple British gal
We buried my Mom today. When I hear this song it reminds me that she has finally entered heaven where she will receive her reward. Inspiring song!
Sorry for your family's loss!
God bless you!
To fallen soldiers let us sing
Where no rockets fly nor bullets wing
Our broken brothers let us bring
To the Mansions of the Lord
No more bleeding, no more fight
No prayers pleading through the night
Just divine embrace, Eternal light
In the Mansions of the Lord
Where no mothers cry and no children weep
We will stand and guard though the angels sleep
All through the ages safely keep
The Mansions of the Lord
Respect and admiration, great country, great men and women, preserve ypur virtues
Thank you for posting the words for those of us with hearing problems.
To Captain James B. Hansard, Infantry, 25th Infantry Division; 23 October 1968. Forever 28. Forever my Brother. Forever my Hero. I have done my best to live up to your standards.
