I got my wife a 2008 CX90 with 70000km on the odometer, It is a wonderful car and it is sad that Volvo dont make V8 motors any more. She had a Mercedes-Benz E-250diesel before the Volvo, one day she called me and asked that how can the gas tank be empty after 450km when she could do 1000km in the Mercedes. I told her that welcome to the V8 world :D But damn it is nice and has just the right amount of horsepower for that car.
Oh, and Yamaha were only involved. Look up something like the part number for the pistons.... Same as from 5 cylinder engines. It's a Volvo engine dude.
He said it's a first Volvo *cars* V8. First Volvo V8 was for trucks. Yamaha shared their know-how and production lines to create that engine. It was cooperation.
Shows 3 of the timing chain colored links/ marks, but not the 4th. Horrid resolution video. Ridiculous designed engine. I would like to see an engine built with efficient repair procedures considered. Once they build an engine with power and efficient fuel economy, it is then time to build an engine that goes together and comes apart with a minimum of effort and time. This engine in the XC90 is a nightmare. Research balance shaft bearing. Why do we have to wait another 50 years to get an engine that doesn't cost $12,000 to replace? Built to fall apart. Don't they realize how heavy 4 cams, all those gears and such a long timing chain is? Like changing a meat ball in a bowl of noodles that you have to put back exactly as it was.
The Balance shaft bearing issue was resolved in 2006/7. It entailed drilling a drain hole for water to escape rather than sitting.....for people who used a hosepipe to wash their engine. (But I like your analogy of the meatball & the noodles!)

Just got one😊
@@Hajnik79 Nice :)
I love my XC90 V8!
I love the quality of the video
XC90 p2 was a nice car but it really fell short on towing capacity compared to the BMW X5, even with the big engine
I love my fucking car
...because V8 XC90 owners have the need for speed.
I could not suppose why Volvo could not set it along the car but it is nice engine!
More compact this way.
architecture of all P2 Volvos required transverse mounting. they are primarily fwd cars.
lol. Why is the XC90 always being chased by police?
Not chacing it's the leader
Aloo minion wheels
He said that the V8 engine was Volvo's first V8, really!
The engine is made by Yamaha.
Only manufactured by Yamaha, Volvo made design and specifications.
Also, Volvo made a v8 before, called B36.

Still a good engine

this is a promo, designed to sell the car, not a detailed analysis
