He's not a real lorry-driver! And he's too tall, I had no difficulty at all seeing out of the windscreen, mind you I'm only 5'8. I loved my 28/3300's and wish I had kept one!
I had the simplest of 2800, graet manual box , like many of the trucks of that generation you had to drive them , progress is a beutiful thing ,pleased drivers of today have most creature comforts, and well deserved, now retired im pleased I can say I done it ,,,,, a job you never forget, once a driver always a driver, keep the wheels rollin ladies and gents,, the 3300 wud win hands down in my book, but thats a generation thing , also how many people could get it moving with 24 ton on back,, ,,,, keep trucking all ,
I knew a bloke, cb handle of daddy long legs , he was an easy ,6:7 if not more , great friend of family,, his sons grew up to be the same obviously now adults, he managed fine in the days of fodens AEC, erf seddon and the likes of more , he had a guy warrior back in the days and like many drivers sadly gone would have wound the elastic band so tight they would fly , 🤔🤔, personally ive had the pleasure of both gearboxes, and triptronics, manual would win hands down, feels like your more in control, but guess its what youve grown up with , its like ropes and sheets, how many drivers of today could do it , , progress , a beutiful thing , im more pleased drivers have creature comforts at hand , good luck to all, drivers of yesterday and tomorrow, keep rhem wheels movin , drive carefully, and remember the other driver is the idiot ,🤔🤔😕😱👍
I remember the Daf 2800 brand new in 1982, it was an X reg and for its time seemed so modern, it had a two bunk sleeper cab, a pop up sunroof and it even had an electric passenger window but a wind up one for the driver. Back in the 80’s if you were a lorry driver and not a truck driver! You were akin to being a stuntman or Burt Reynolds type character, very cool! But as much as it would be fun taking the Daf 3300 for a drive and playing with range changes and splitters etc, I think that spending your working week in the XF would be more relaxing and a nice place to be, for many reasons, comfort, quietness, storage and general ergonomics and not forgetting cruise control and air conditioning!
I've owned both, in fact I've had the old 2800 DKS ( 305hp/ 13 speed Fuller ), 2800 , 3300 ( both 4x2 and 6x2 tag ), 3300 ATI twin steer ( as in video) ( nothing but trouble with the air on 2nd axle ) , 3100 XF and my last DAF that I actually owned, 1998 XF 480 SSC, my all time favourite truck. but if I could get hold of an old 3300 6x2 again, I'd jump at it.
Exactly. My dad drove Guys, Seddons, Mk V AECs, Commers, Bedford S and TK and a Parrot nosed Dodge. He wouldn't have recognised the comfort of even a thirty year old wagon nowadays.
what a plonker, he is no lorry driver looks to me like he is frightened of hard work, where is my sat-nav , no electric mirrors , oh the indicator stalk is to far away from the steering wheel, excuses excuses , what a lovely truck takes me back to my apprentice days as a HGV mechanic loved working on these DAF 2800/3300, the company i worked for had a fleet of 2800 s and two 3300 they were a european haulage firm and also had their own workshops, all the drivers spoke very highly of DAF trucks, good old days and great memories..
The 3300 every time. You can jam your electronic this, that and the other up your arse - give me control of a decent manual box and I'll be as happy as a pig in shite. Why this "reviewer" couldn't find a gear in the 3300 is beyond me, but it's more than enough reason to give him his marching orders.
The 21 century trucks are made to feel like you are driving a car not a huge truck, trucks are made now like you are driving a s class not a truck, simple machinery will always be superior in the work place.
I'm sorry, this guy isn't able to drive a real truck.... Long ago I drove a 3300 also.. Nowadays I own a Volvo FH16 550 (FH4) with a manuel gearbox, the last of the mohicans, and I like every mile I make.....
all you did was moan about the 3300. no bluetooth or air conditioning. when my dad was a truck driver he started with Atkinson Borderers, Foden's. Bristol 8 wheelers. scammels. later on Scania 140s141's then 142 143 lol
@Ulimate Solutions Hmm.....Now let's see.....Congested roads, management with no idea, not to mention the fact most don't have a licence, unrealistic journey times, and the fact there is too much interference when you are trying to do a good job.Not that much camaraderie amongst drivers, and everybody out for themselves.l could go on....Let's say,l did this for 25 years, and have now left the industry.I hope that answers your question!
no they dont make them like that "thankfully" but then again no point havin a fancy cab to relax when your stressed and worrying about getting up at 2.30am in your cab to meet some nonsense RDC timeslot!.
You should have got a truck driver to take it out
You can tell he’s only used to driving an auto give me a manual any day
I'd say it makes sense, since the streets in the UK are incredibly narrow
No electric mirrors. I was the electric mirror in my uncles trucks
Send a real driver out in it.
clutch wouldn't get used either.
What a big girls blouse, a real gearbox a bit too much for you mate? Can't reach the indicators? What an indignity for you.
Wow ! Poor guy , when was driving the 3300 he find out what is take to be a real truck driver.
Oh dear....Nothing but complaints!
Modern trucks are nice, but no character, and the job is more stressful.l'd love to drive this 3600!👍
What makes the job more stressful today?
Give me the old truck any day, didn't think they had seat belts in the old spacecab?
He's not a real lorry-driver! And he's too tall, I had no difficulty at all seeing out of the windscreen, mind you I'm only 5'8. I loved my 28/3300's and wish I had kept one!

3300..... double clutch... no steering easer... no airco... sunvisor.... buttttt id drive it
put aftermarket airconditioner, aftermarket sunvisor, problem solved :p
I’d want the 3300 any day and twice on sundays. But rather I’d drive a 2800 with a 13speed Fuller Roadranger!
This guy is like driving a ferrari f40 and saying no traction control? no abs? no radio? no airbags? they didnt make it anymore thankfully :D
The first Artics i drove was the DAF 2100 then onto the 2800 ATI, drivers these days have it so easy. ;-P
Totally the wrong person to drive a daf 3300. Too used to luxury, my grandad slept over the engine on a board with a few sheets in his day.

Leyland T45 Interstate, with a Rolls Royce 420, ZF splicer, had 89 out of mine, almondsbury interchange ;)
Loved mine back in the day. Sadly this chap is no driver. Satnav? Bluetooth? To55er!
Put a real driver on it

no matter how great the old on is and it is great but sometimes you need to work smart not hard hence why they dont make em like they used to
i'D like to drive the daf 3300... i drive the XF at work...
He is not a truck driver is a passenger in a lorry!
no they dont make them like that "thankfully" but then again no point havin a fancy cab to relax when your stressed and worrying about getting up at 2.30am in your cab to meet some nonsense RDC timeslot!.

Zo jammer dat je zo iemand met zo’n geweldige auto laat rijden, nou ja rijden kan hij ook niet dat kun je wel zien en horen.
Scathing... No rose tinted nostalgia here...

Loool
Dispointing
Király. Nagyon szép a DAF 3300. Mikori Évjáratú a DAF 3300?
