We should've sat back and invited them onto us for 20 minutes. I was very surprised the tactics weren't changed after the final.

Absolutely correct & as I've already said elsewhere, particularly in the context of (you know the rest!!!) a very average goalkeeper (I'm being very polite) making his Glasgow derby debut & playing directly in front of him, a ramshackle, cobbled together, threadbare, makeshift so - called ''defence'' (I'm being even politer with that description) & so in that damning context & quite literally apart from Kyogo's offside ''goal'' & no I'm not counting the yet again woeful & dire, to go along with his moody & sulky Hatate's shot direct at their goalkeeper, as you say, we ''didn't even ask one question'' & even in those dark, dismal, brutally unsuccessful days of the early 1990s, we NEVER EVER overall played as bad as we did against them last Thursday

The answer to mid block and man marking is to send the ball long. Win the ball or let them try and play out against a press. When they drop deeper, then play football. That’s how to do it

Sean that's common sense even at amatuer or juvenile level, why didn't our elite manager and coaches do it , odds on a correct rangers score win spread were brilliant , I wonder eh!!! Only kidding we were rank simple but the theory sounds good as I still don't believe we could play this badly

I get why the Manager likes to make changes on the hour mark for data & metrics purposes but changes should have been made after 25-30, personnel/formation especially as Alan says what was on show was horrific.

When dear old Ange back in the day made his nearly always huge big FIVE substitutions on the hour mark, it was ONLY because we were knackered after an hour of relentless, on the front foot, get the ball forward, Ange Ball, but when oor current Manager made his three substitutions on the hour mark in the Glasgow derby, oor abject failure ONLY continued because it COMPLETELY wasn't just a case of changing individuals that was NEEDED, instead it wis ONLY oor COMPLETE system & style of play that had to change & as so lamentably evidenced by the fact that just like Kyogo in the first half, £9.5 million with the add on Idah also received NO service from oor dire wingers & even worse so-called midfield....

The so - called Ibrokes ''cauldron'' & those 50,000 screaming zombies is a complete red herring when endeavouring to excuse and/or explain away oor cataclysmic failures on every level & particularly against an opposition who were fielding a very average goalkeeper making his Glasgow derby debut & in front of him he was relying on an even more average makeshift defence & ALL of them quintessentially strolled through the game because our two wingers were dire & oor so-called midfield were even worse than dire & then there wis oor so-called ''defence'' & just oot of the inevitable curiosity that stems from your comments, were they supposed to NOT have attempted to ''made it hell on earth for us?''

Rangers have reverted to a middle block to pressurise our midfield and we have not come up with an answer. The players should be able to sort out how to beat the press on the park but haven't, so Brendan needs to step in to give them the answers.
The team needs to be much further back to create space behind to run into, to fight for the ball and to be available for passes. Players waiting behind defenders for the type of ball they want is lazy and cowardice.
We need to get rid of Hatate if we want to play Rodger's favoured possession based football. He's nowhere near consistent enough apart from giving the ball away constantly. Taylor needs to sign a new contract or move on. He's been great for us and I hope he stays, but his head is elsewhere.

I've never ever been a fan of oor current Captain in a Captaincy role & so it would be very easy for me to go COMPLETELY along with your notion that ''the players should be able to sort out how to beat the press on the park'' & so obviously beginning with the Captain to lead & set the example to the others in that regard, but first & foremost, Wee Callum is just NOT that type of guy, he's simply meek, mild & compliant & so the total antithesis of brash, forceful, loud & in your face when the situation demands that you be & bhoy oh bhoy, how the ''situation'' demanded it last Thursday & nobody knows the Captaincy qualities, or lack of them, than oor current Manager & so ALL blame lies with him in totally failing his players in what to expect.

@@frankbrennan1619 There should be multiple leaders on the pitch and you don't need to scream in someone's face to advise them how to win their battles. Rodgers should have addressed the issues after the Cup Final, and not doing is his failure, but I don't think it's a stretch to want the players to sort it out on the pitch themselves.
I'd drop McGregor just now though. He wasn't at it at all. Play Engels as the defensive mid and allow McGregor more freedom when he's got

@@seamusmckenna-y2h I think they'd be good ideas. Rangers were man for man against us with an extra defender, allowing our centre backs to have the ball. More and better movement generally, players making themselves available for the ball, quick one twos in midfield, full backs driving forward with the ball, balls being played in behind for wingers and strikers (not just long balls, but through balls and dinks over the top from midfield) would all be good.
With them man for man, our players had to win their personal battles, but allowed them to block them out the game then wait for a bad pass.
We need to be more compact and bring the wingers and fullbacks in to get those short passes for the derby games. Against league teams, our wide game will win us more points than their compact game though

rodgers has done this before. part of the strategy at this point. a wide gap leaves little motivation . the game meant more to them and there was little reason for us to get up for it. there's no way to say it without sounding like cope but that doesn't mean it's not true

Celtic played the match as if we were 14 points behind rather than the other way round ! There was no fluency ...no structure ...no pressing a sub standard opposition and no idea how to play like champions . In all of my 50 years watching Celtic , ( I'm in my early 60's now ) , home away and abroad , that was the most disappointed I've ever felt after a game . Any neutral looking in knowing the stats and facts pre game ,could quite easily have called the team as " bottlers ! " This had better be a one off ....but I'm not so sure .

Inability to change tact and direction in game with starting 11 when it’s clearly not working is a concern. The implications are that the team gets progressively even more predictable and worse individually and collectively as the game progresses serving to drain our confidence while raising theirs. And its just awful to watch!

Everywhere & on every level it ALL went wrong, starting with oor current Manager & all of the so - called coaching staff & every player who started & finished on the Ibrokes pitch & as dear old Alan has said, it actually got worse in the second half & no matter that oor current Manager stood on the Ibrokes sidelines watching his cataclysmic failures unfold in the first 45 minutes & then with that off the scale Brenda ego that knows no bounds, he did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to even begin to address, never mind correct, his cataclysmic failures when we started the second half & so the collective abject failure then just simply continued on every level & as has been said, this (abject) failure had been ''signposted'' in the last few weeks....
