      @@dr.michaelwilliams9898 The 20 year old kids that I end up training on hydrovac trucks end up quitting with in a week. They see a little bit of sewage and cant handle it. They cant even handle the cold temperatures or some minor labour. They lack endurance and the mindset to handle hard work and stress. It is a shame.

    I like these videos but, not a word about Mack Trucks... their B model was one of the most common trucks of it’s time. Dad had a LJ, a H63, and a H67 back in the 50’s early 60’s. That H67 was the first truck I was ever in, and I was too young to remember it, just remember the stories. Thanks for the videos

      yes and no, in calculation with inflation, while the vehicles may have been more dangerous, its crazy how in comparison, they made more money than most truckers do today, on top of better hours and having a proper union, where as today, many truckers don't make as much (if you calculate inflation), work far more hours, and no longer have a good union (thanks Jimmy Carter)

    • @JohnyVman
      @JohnyVman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It has, it is the civics that drive (pun intended) the economy, i.e a poor economy will not need the logistics the trucks provide.

    • @danphariss133
      @danphariss133 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Civics is OK but they seem to have overdone it. I guess they don't know enough about trucking in the 50s to make a video so they add all this other crap. How they keep ignoring IHC astounds me. But they include FORD? which were often geared so poorly that with the same power as the IHCs in the same fleet would show nothing but fading taillights. Dodge? Yeah I have been around places in the lat 50s and listened to truckers and my oldest uncle was driving in the late 30s and my Dad drove a million miles in the late 40s and through the 50s when the speed limit was 45-50 for trucks. AND with engines so small he told me sometimes he could not get over the hill the first try. He started out hauling hay with a KB 5 with a 213 ci flathead and yeah the photos show they were loaded out over the cab with a 15-16 foot bed. But they sell accessories so...

    Question not just for trucks - Why didn't LP or Nat Gas powered vehicles never take off in the states?

    • @MikeBrown-ii3pt
      @MikeBrown-ii3pt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Probably because the infrastructure wasn't and still isn't there for them. Some farm tractors were also available with LP engines but were never very popular because of the cost to have a farm equipped to refuel them. It's the same with electric vehicles today. In some areas, there are charging stations, but many areas don't have them.
