Just wanted to say that Sean Halley is one of the greatest guitarists i ever heard. I really liked hes playing on the new Helix processor demo. Great Job!
I know that this video series is several years ago but I now own three JTV’s and I have been looking for inspiration in things I haven’t thought of doing yet. I have used my JTV69 since 2016 and I’ve recently acquired a JTV89F and the rare gold top JTV59P.
Sean, You are responsible...for me buying a JTV 69!! (And I won't make any complaints at all! It is a brilliant instrument. THANKS for the quality of the demos - it works!) Regards from Jan Irhøj DK
So, he said we can change tunings on the guitar without actually tuning it? So, I can play E Standard tuning, but then get it to play in Drop C, or D without actually tuning it? Please correct me if I am wrong
+Xavier Lopez You are not wrong at all, this is indeed how it works. :-) The guitar stays in Standard tuning, but you can retune it at will virtually. Hope that helps.
While Line 6 makes great products, I would not recommended the Variax guitar. Maybe I had a lemon but I had to send my guitar in several times for repair and they never got my issues fixed. On one repair it took about 6 weeks to get my guitar back only to have the exact same issue. I had sent it back and they partially corrected my issue but I had to send it in again. Unfortunately line 6 said they were going to send a repair request again and I never heard back from support. Now I am out of warranty and can't get help. I ended up having to purchase a new guitar and get rid of the Variax due to Line 6 not following up on their commitment. This really makes me think twice about dropping more money on Line 6 gear. I saw there is a new Helix unit coming out and I am now reluctant to purchase it due to my experience with support. It may be just me getting a bad guitar but be mindful of the possible support experience.
What are the difference in the tunings between the 59 and the 89? I'm a PRS guy so I like the 59 the best but I like to play in drop C and drop B a lot.
Watched this video twice, and I’ve got to say that if I were going to enter the market for one of these guitar models, the 69 is looking more and more inviting, between the fact that it includes a tremolo bridge and locking tuners with no string tree.
That sitar made me want to hurl. lol. but I had no idea anything like this existed, this is nuts, in kinda of a weird but cool for people who wold be ok with it.
I bought and then took back twice the Line 6 HD 500. It was impossible for me to figure out. Adding the guitar and then the Line 6 amp to the equation is far beyond my ability to understand. I love the sounds these are capable of but i'm just not smart enough to use these products. I think the store's that sell this stuff really should offer classes so one can actually learn how to use them for real. The online tutorials were of no use either.
The store I used to work for sold mainly keyboards, and the processing power of these units like the Yamaha Tyros5 is incredible, they used to run a monthly club where customers could learn a new feature every month, it gave people a chance to exchange ideas, tips and tricks etc. I think something along that model would be great.
+Ben Caffrey I worked at Guitar Center, in the keyboard department, about 20 years ago.
I like that idea of a club to which one could belong, if one wished to learn new features, provided that it was equipped with soundproof practice rooms that customers could rent. I used to go to Guitar Center, after I lost my job with them, to practice keyboards. But it was far from ideal. Too noisy, and no guarantee that one would even find an available keyboard.
Sean, I love how you blend speed with style and emotion! GREAT phrasing and tone!
I remember playing a Variax for the first time, it was a life changing experience hehe
Planning to get one someday
I am a Line 6 users and can't do without!! Awesome gear and flexibility…

There are 10 slots for custom guitar models/tunings in all models.

Great video!!! Thank you very much indeed.

Want. I'll take one of each, U.S. model, please.
When are you guys going to starting taking care of us bass players again???
I can't stand their baseball bat necks. WAAAAAY too thick for me:)
Put a strat neck on it. That's how my buddy solved that issue
