Those masks are both things of beauty. While I definitely am a lover of the new masks, seeing the rotten mask in full costume was something else. 40 years can't stop the creepy feeling it has been giving off since the very start.
Yes Sir, totally agree! When that first picture surfaced in '17, my first thought was "imagine that thing coming after you!" 😬
This is the mask that they should use for the Halloween TV Show!

I always thought this, and someone finally did it. I find the original way creepier than the H40 mask. I would love to buy the hero mask, but i spent a lot of money on my part 6 jason costume 😅. (Michael Myers is my all time favorite)

The rotten looking one is definitely much creepier looking. Something I also wish that was the direction they went with.
But when the Halloween Kills mask rolled around, that is one of my favorite looks to the masks. It goes Halloween, Halloween II & Halloween Kills.
Totally agree! It had a different feel to it in Kills. I dug it right away as well.
Great video! As awesome as it would’ve been to have a more authentic rotted look, I’m a fan of both in their own right. Have always adored the H40 and the Kills even more so. Love that Nelson retooled it to have more of that “Kirk” look, that I do feel is missing from the H40. But man..I can’t help but to think “What if?” we had gotten the authentic look on screen. Your photos prove it could’ve worked and is beyond creepy!

Excellent analysis on the mask and its features! As a quick side note, is it just me or does the H2 mask look a lot like William Shatner now that he is older? Just thought it was crazy that the H2 mask kinda predicted what William Shatner would look like later in his life
i was lucky enough to get my H40 mask signed by the legendary james jude courtney and it has pride of place at home on a stand! great video!
James Courtney brought a lot to the role, that's for sure. Personally, he's my favorite Myers since Don Shanks.

I never tire of LK venting about TH-cam's ridiculous algorithm stunts. Waiting with bated breath for video thumbnails of LK with bug eyes and silly facial expressions, you know, to really draw the viewers in.
I think both masks are creepy in their own rite, though I agree with LK's reasoning that the premise of "This is the original mask, weathered for 40 years" doesn't hold up considering the mask would have been stored when Michael was captured after the 1978 events and it certainly wasn't so beaten to hell at that point. As an aside, I also didn't realize that they used the same mask in Halloween II; he's right, Dick Warlock makes it look waaaaaay different. They still all look far better than the masks in the Thorn trilogy.

Awesome, Buddy! I remember wishing I had spent more time on the Jason 8 video when it started getting around some. Was still a fun one to do though! And I'm with ya! Imagining Myers in that rotten hero chasing me is creepy level 10.

It is an unfortunate thing with the Michael Myers mask, I mean anyone can put on a hockey mask and it’ll look ok. Leatherface will look ok, ghostface damn sure looks ok. Hell I’ve even seen Freddy masks look good on other people, but the Michael Myers mask is unique which in a way is its downfall if you want 100% 78 accuracy. It changes every time from Nick to James to dick to George to Tyler to don to you to hell even me, it’s crazy how much the person’s head shape changes that mask

Thats Badass lord! While I appreciate the h40 and its artisticness, I agree it would have been very special if we had a 78 hero replica on screen paired up with Cody and Johns Score, love the worn shots as always
Absolutely! Having that original rotten likeness on screen with the Carpenters' score might've nearly been as creepy as the '78 film itself.
All they had to do was cast someone 6ft at most (with an average size head) 😅 and make a toned down hero with a built in Castle stretch. You would think that would be common sense. They waited until ENDS to make the mask different and I'm sure that was really so Trick or Treat Studios would have a bigger mask to sell since everyone complained about 2018 and Kills being too small (especially 2018)
The replica of original looks like he can see the air. Far more emotionless, and I don't wanna imagine a guy chasing me with that mask.

His mask does look shrunking a big. Give him an ole man look haha. Eyes are too round on the new original mask
Don’t get me wrong the H40 mask is great, but the sculpt doesn’t come close enough to the look of that original 78 mask for it to be believable. They placed too much emphasis on some of the facial features trying to recreate the look of the original shatner to the point it doesn’t even look like a Kirk that was converted and has aged over time. I have to go with the hero, there’s just something about the natural deterioration of it that makes it look gnarly and hella creepy.

Almost second skin like? Silence of the lambs/Myers mask…I like the “truly” aged one much more…still wouldn’t have saved the new movies for me though

Nah the Halloween 2018 looks a thousand times creepier. I just think people of the franchise cling on to the original way too much and are kinda biased.
