I know I am at a cable outlet because this is where my old TV was and this TV was a gift and it is new that is why I needed the instructions on the HDMI cable. I am only getting one channel though? I am thinking that has to be good? I recognize the channel from my cable package so that has to be a good sign but I can't change channels. Any ideas why?
I just had a 3 end tv wire. Talked to Comcast did everything they said. New box new controller. Now when they said we had no signal from my box they suggested to have a tech come out for $70. Then I told them no way I would figure it out. So I looked at the tv back and tv box. I found out there was a different slot in both tv and box. Hi may Foxtel Box is older and the cable to box and to TV was stolen by a guest. I have been to JBHi-Fi and tried two DisplayPort HDMI Fusion 4 K Cable but they will not connect to the Foxtel Box. Why when I change the source to hdmi1 does the screen go blue and says dvi1? My cable company had set this up so I could switch source from roku to cable. It worked fine. I've been streaming on roku for months. Well I decided to try to watch TV and I kept getting no signal. I looked behind the TV and saw one end of the hdmi cable from the cable box to the TV. I plugged it in but keep getting this dvi1 source.
DVI does “not” carry audio (sound). Reading in your comment post that your TV is showing the term “DVI” suggests an older TV and/or cable box not set up fully correctly. We are assuming you are selecting the correct HDMI input on your TV and that the cable box isn’t connected to a different HDMI port (?)

Your cable company may be able to supply you a cable box having an F connector output. The connector you are describing on your tv is an F connector (threaded coaxial cable connector)

You can use the side port; however, not all HDMI ports are equivalent in their capabilities. If after you connect to the side port and you notice you not getting the performance you were “expecting” then maybe use a labeled port on the rear panel. Pick up your TV remote control, the remote control that came with your TV when you purchased your TV. On that remote find a button “Input” or “Source” and press that button and let go of the button. If no picture appears on your TV repeat the process until a picture appears in your TV

My HOA changed cable TV viewing company, well another expensive mistake, because this new com. Company only has their own mfg brand which has only one out HMDI data out port eliminating the optional old standard road style connectors. The technician told me that I must buy a upto date T V to be le to get any on ! Well, I cannot afford a new TV, unfortunately I can not be allowed to use a satellite dish, or install an "free old analog TV antenna," because the monopoly that the 3 only major TV digital communication companies are in control! As such the HOA restrictive godliness 10 living rules! I know there are ways to be smarter than those boxheads control But need As Charlie 9 stated "Need more Input" as any addict on the Binge! I'm old standard and determined as a stubborn wood pecker drilling on a union made blue Cobalt blue harden steel i beam to at least only getting a headache but the need to at leave an impression bah it's not that tough!

What if your cable box does not have an hdmi port? Is there a different cord?

It is a newer TV about 3 years old. I've tried both hdmi1 and hdmi3 ports. Roku is connected to hdmi1. It was working fine now isn't.

That looks like a standard HDMI port on the cable box. And you've used a HDMI+Ethernet cable, and not a plain HDMI only cable.
