This is my absolute favorite iteration of Zelda. Noble, beautiful, selfless, and compassionate. A true princess if there ever was.

With the cry of "Link, protect them all!"
Yes this was the final straw for me. She phrased it like this because she knew there is no going back. She took herself out of the equation. She is only talking about everyone else, knowing she can't be saved.
My heart skips a beat every time. No joke.
The fact Zelda was in the opening scene when you’re free falling and no one knew until this moment was insanity
She is also the one to break the clouds after you sent the broken sword back in time, allowing you to go back down to Hyrule level.
The true secret of the “silent princess” flower is such an amazing bit of writing.
Here is this mysterious flower that in the first game, Zelda talks about being incapable of growing those flowers in captivity and wondering why.
It’s in the sequel that it’s discovered that the flowers are made by the dragon of light, a.k.a., Princess Zelda herself.

So is zelda. Shes literally the only royal family member left.
Some people actually cried after seeing this. Even I cried. She sacrificed everything to reforge the master sword and deliver it to Link when the time was right
Seeing the Silent Princesses around the tear absolutely broke me.

Others have brought this up before, but she didn't just sacrifice her life, she essentially doomed her spirit to be in eternal slumber within the Light Dragon, never able to move on to the afterlife. She locked her spirit away never to be seen again, all to create an ultimate weapon that would give Link a chance against Ganondorf.
What about the sacrifices her Champions have made in Breath of the Wild? Especially the promise Link has for Ubrosa since she wants Zelda to live her life happily. Now everything they have fought for is all for nothing. And being turned into a dragon really dishonors their memories.

The silent princesses were such a big punch to the gut. I took a picture for my house to remember forever
Idk if others noticed but if you listen closely to her roar, you could faintly hear what sounds like her voice.....screaming.
That “protect them all!” Always makes me tear up, I’m glad I’m not the only one lol, just the raw emotion in her voice pieced with the realization she’s been the dragon this whole time
I remembered crying after this. Then I stop playing TOTK for weeks. After everything the champions have fought for. All the sacrifices they have made since the second Great Calamity stroke Hyrule. And everything Link did to stand by her side (whether it is his duty or his affection for his princess). It’s like it’s all for nothing.
What’s worst? Zelda indirectly forced Link to break the one promise he has made to one of the champions- Urbosa. If you read her diary, all she and Zelda’s mother ever wanted is for her lil bird is to lived her life happily. But she is now Draconified for millennia, it is both upsetting and heartbreaking to see that fulfilling this promise is impossible… as if fate have other plans.
I wish Nintendo could show give Link more facial expressions in this game. To shown his despair since Zelda is the only one whom he is most open up to (if you read one of Zelda’s dairy entries in Breath of the Wild).
to be honest i dont think the game could handle it if link had skyward sword-level facial expressions. the pain this man has been through should add hours in cutscenes at least. (both games combined). but i still want it ;-;
I'm conflicted on that idea. On one hand, the idea behind Link in the Wild games is that whatever emotion you're feeling is what he's feeling, so having him take the wheel and force a reaction out of you would feel rather cheap. On the other hand, it is a bit awkward having him sit there with a blank face at all times during an emotional scene.
When I saw this cutscene I had chills and started crying. Literally yelled "ZELDA DON'T DO IT!"
We All said it.
When I realized what was happening I said aloud, "No Zelda you didn't!"
In German, Zelda said “for you” before she swallowed the Sacred Stone… just showed how strong as a love confession because she just admitted that she does it for Link, and is willingly to do anything for him and their kingdom in the present.
Who's to say the German version is canon? There's a lot of discrepancies sometimes, but in those confines... it is a pretty good point.

I'd also like to point out the beginning of the scene, where Zelda says she's counting on Mineru. At first, I thought she was talking to the air or even the construct she hands the Purah Pad to.
After playing through the game far enough to have the construct summon, I realized, the blue flame above the Pad that looks like a Poe? That flies into the Pad? Yeah, THAT'S Mineru.
She reforged the Master Sword for 10,000 years while knowing that she’ll never be herself again. GOTY 2023

Not 10,000 years. 10,000 years ago was the point of the previous Calamity. By that point, the Calamity had appeared so many times that the Sheikah were able to prepare for it. We don't know how many times the Calamity appeared but Rauru's time was far, FAR longer than 10,000 years ago.
This scene broke me so much that I had to put the game down to cry it all out.
This one sacrifice solidified why this is my favorite version of the character.

The mission on defeating Ganondorf is basic goof vs evil stuff but after seeing the last dragon tear.... that mission is now personal
People talk about the sadness of the sacrifice, how scary or tragic it is… I think personally, what stands out to me is her strength and resolve. When she’s in the final memory (after transformation, Zelda’s Wish) she has this moment where her longing expression turns brave, determined and powerful. That’s what I remember best.

Her power and strength didn’t come from innate magical powers it didn’t come from the goddess’s it didn’t come from any kind of great fairy it came from her selflessness and wisdom it came from her willingness to sacrifice her sense of self for a greater purpose and in that comes real power she may be the most strongest Zelda in the timeline
I get chills every time I see Zelda's eyes change and she shouts, "protect them all!"...

My girlfriend grew up never playing video games. BOTW was her first and she loved it, followed by Skyrim. TOTK was her first new release she was so hype for and watching this moment with her was beautiful 💙💛
The fucking music in all of these cutscenes is so immaculate.
I was shocked wheb I found this out, I didn’t saw it coming at all. Still working on my game so I am still genuinely wondering if we can turn her back.
It's also shocking that all this time we've been wondering how to get her back from the past.. while she has been here in front of our eye's the entire time...

Character-wise, only the ST Zelda is second to this iteration. Followed by OoT & WW. TP's Zelda is not near the top because she needed more development. That game really should have been called _Legend of Midna: Twilight Princess._
This Zelda struggled to find her place, her purpose, and her power, but when the moment called she stood & fought alone for 100 years.
After almost a decade of respite, she was flung again into conflict, and this time she fought for _untold thousands_ of years, giving up her own sense of self to do so.
This is the best iteration of Zelda. No other has really done near as much.

I know people can’t control what time of the day they play this app but at night the silent princesses are glowing more impactful at night

I've never understanded why this series is called the legend of zelda untill now.
Even after finishing the game and viewing this on repeat playthroughs, this scene is still so hard to watch. It gives me a massive knot in my stomach.

Im just wondering how the Sword ended up in her head, when here it shows her holding the Sword in her hands as she transformed. And her arms are too short to put it in her head.

i remember when i was playing the game, I was saving the final fight for when I got to at least 40% or 45% of the game completed so I could be as over prepared as possible when facing him. on a whim, i decided to do the dragons tears, and when I finally got to the final memory, I had to drop everything I was doing and went directly to Hyrule. I didn't care about no sundelions, no better armor, absolutely nothing. I just wanted to get to Ganon and stop him. I got down to five hearts when when I ultimately even reached him, and I had started with thirteen. i didnt have many sundelions, so I was basically playing tag with Ganond the entire time. After spamming flowerbombs and keese eyeballs to kill Ganon, the sheer joy that coursed through me during both the last few moments before the credits and the final few moments after the credits made me extremly pleased.
I then load back my previous save and decided to fight Ganon for a second time because I realized I was wearing the wrong armor-I wanted to be wearing the Champions tunic, so I had to get that real quick and then kill Ganon a second time just so I could look cool. Plus, the amazing music was a great addition. I can listen to the staff credit theme over and over again. In fact, here's the video to the staff credit songs

watching the memories again remind me why i got my silent princess tattoo..... this rendition of zelda rly made an impact on me. this story was so fucking sad but so beautifully executed

FINALLY!! Someone actually gives some respect to Fi. Poor girl has been through a lot over these many, MANY millennia. I can just imagine her in this state, with her clothes in tatters. I really wish one day she’ll finally wake up.
