i think that the meaning of this video is that the more put together gabbie (present day gabbie) is talking to her older self and saying you need to do this you need to medicate because without medication gabbie now would've been the all sad and depressed gabbie. AND you can tell that its her now because of the yellow hair. AND the now gabbie is literally screaming in a sense of ridicule against old gabbie, like look at yourself your a mess you need to get better and go on in life like a mom or dad saying that to their child. In all she is trying to convince her old self to do this even though she isn't there it's just old gabbie's mind but somewhere it must have clicked and then she went on medication to help it and welll...... look at her now!! Shes a beautiful person who has a music career and is on youtube... nobody though that would happen but it did because even though people may not have liked her older songs the ones that she produces now are really well thought out !! I bet she never though she would be this successful either when she was going through extreme depression and i hope she isnt still going through it now. bye, Love You xoxo!!
I say young girls like her strives for attention if they get less they change by cutting their hair or changing it or try to be something they arent by drinking and partying which most girls at her age are doing. And the only way they start to mature which this is true stats is when they hit their mid 30s.

Gabbie in this video while on meds is literally numb, spaced out and has no semse of time going on around her. Gabbie doesn't take meds and she doesn't want to and she isn't going to. This video is basically one half of her that did give up and just take the meds and then yellow haired Gabbie is more lively, aggressive and just an emotional human so that's without the meds. Gabbie should be like that, not numb to the world.
@@Alex-jd3bs I don't know cause the first gabbie says "they say give myself a break they want me to medicate I don't want to medicate." I always saw it as first gabbie being scared of medicating and scared of how it will change her which is something all people who have depression go through when making that decision. But you may be right it might honestly be both since there is such a stigma around medicating mental illnesses and people with them never know whether its best to medicate or not.

I'm pretty sure the Gabbie in the white is the depression Gabbie, and the one in black is the one trying to prevent the other from making a bad decision, like taking a pill. She did say she put an easter egg in the video

Just in case you weren't aware, Gabbie said the song was about how she was feeling super sad and depressed, but she was wondering if she was struggling with something she needed medication for (i.e. depression, bipolar, anxiety, etc.) or is she was just a sad girl. Because sometimes people are dealing with mental illness, but think it's just normal sadness and not a medical problem (and vice versa.)
It's something that takes a while to figure out (I had the same struggle at on point). So the support group is actually most likely for people who are/think they might be struggling with mental problems, and they need help. Gabbie is asking "can you medicate a broken heart?" because she wants to know how medication might effect her.

As someone who takes anti-depressants, I interpreted this video less as someone dealing with drug addiction and more of what it's like to take medication for depression. When you're depressed your hollow, which I think Gabbie in the sweater represents. The leather jacket Gabbie is the "real her" who is trapped inside herself. She's wondering if medication will really make her feel like herself again or if it's just artificial. It's kind of asking the question of whether you should treat depression with medication. For one thing, it may make you feel worse in the worst case and sometimes you feel better but not completely yourself. It's difficult to find the medication that treats your specific problem.
Anyway, I think this is my favorite song of hers. I especially like the line "kill sadness with science." This song is honestly really good.

As someone addicted to oxycodone, I agree whole heartedly with what you said. It feels good in the moment...but the come down is agonizing. And then you're stuck with the ruins of your life.

Gabbie said in one of her videos that the song is about how most doctors are quick to prescribe medicines. And she's asking do you need the prescriptions or are you just sad. Hence the line "can you medicate a broke heart"

The song shows us the state of mind of the average adult. We want a quick fix and don't want to have to go through any type of hardship or process. Antidepressant are useful in many different situations to balance brain chemistry. By doing that a patient is able to then fully invest and put in the work that therapy requires to be successful. But unfortunately in my experience most people just want medication and feel that it's a happy pill which is not the case.
You gotta listen and watch all the music videos they all make up a story

I don’t think it’s more about depression and anxiety meds more then drug addiction. Lots of people with those illnesses have a hard time taking their medication as they feel the emotions are not genuine . And you also missed how the 2nd Gabbie is Gabbie from Monster so she is looking at her dark side asking if the pills can really medicate it away. That being said Gabbie is a big fan of people interpreting her art in different ways so your view could also be true. Great video.

Most definitely about mental illness and not being addicted to drugs. The medications she's referring to are antidepressants, mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, etc. Lithium locked me up into an emotionless shell. The side effects of some of these medications are horrifying.

She's got an ok voice. I'm glad she's kind of sticking to that alto tenor section since she can NOT go high note without just potentially ruining her vocal chords the way she's using them to hit the notes she hit in Monster. And....Ehhh I'm not the biggest fan of Gabbie especially after how she handled her Kenza scam scandal. I mean really how hard is it for a big youtuber to go "i fucked up I'm sorry I'll do better." not that hard. The song was indeed rather well written and I can definitely tell she does have a passion for music. I hope she really works on her singing lessons and gets as good as she can possibly get.
